Abstract: An abeyance seal includes a polymer actuation ring, which defines a flexible sealing lip normally spaced from the shaft. When subjected to leakage, this element collapses against the shaft and forms an initial sealing. Secondarily, a metal sealing/anti-extrusion ring provides a second seal during leakage. The polymer ring provides the initial sealing function during leakage at low differential pressure, and once the polymer ring seals to the shaft, increased sealed pressure loads the polymer ring against the metal sealing/anti-extrusion ring causing it to deform so that the metal ring comes into contact with the shaft to form a second seal.

Abstract: For sealing between a doctor blade chamber (3) and a rotatable roller (16, 23) in a printing unit, there is provided a gasket (4) having an elastomeric edge (17, 18) for sealing abutment against the roller. The gasket includes a rigid/supporting rail (7) which during operational conditions of the printing unit bears against the roller together with the elastomeric edge or which is spaced apart from the roller.
Abstract: A sealing device which comprises a slinger fixedly fitted to the rotary side member, a core member fixedly fitted to the stationary side member, and an elastic sealing member fixed to the core member and having a seal lip which elastically and slidably contacts the slinger. The slinger comprises a fitting cylindrical portion to be fitted into the rotary side member, a brim portion extending its radial direction at one end of its outside relative to a sealed portion of the fitting cylindrical portion, and a rotary side fixing member fixed to the brim portion. Further, the slinger is made in such a manner that an adhesive layer is formed on its whole surface including a contacting side surface where the seal lip contacts by applying adhesive agent thereon, then the fixing member is integrally fixed thereto, thereafter the adhesive layer is partially removed only in the contacting side surface.
Abstract: A labyrinth sealing device is disclosed for use between a rotating shaft and a bearing housing. In some embodiments, an internal stator engages the housing and a rotor engages the shaft. A labyrinth pathway is defined between the rotor and stator to prevent the migration of lubricants and/or contaminants in either direction. The rotor acts as a running surface for the sealing element, but may also with a ground surface of the rotor to provide a pump that continuously draws lubricant away from the sealing lip toward a sump. In another embodiment, the stator and sealing element are combined as a single element formed from a sealing material. A recess in the sealing lip creates a pressure differential at the sealing surface and minimizes wear.
