Abstract: A book support apparatus for supporting pages in a vertically positioned book. The book support apparatus includes a support body attached to a locating arm and optionally includes hinges and adhesive strips with peel off backings. A body addition may also be used with the support body to increase the thickness of the body for books needing increased support distances. The body addition may also include an adhesive strip with a peel off backing to allow for optional fixation to the body. A zigzag type of folding construction is also described.

Abstract: This invention provides a bound multi-page list pad having a stack of dual-pages,each comprising a horizontally lined top thin sheet and a second sheet joined along three sides to define a side-opening pocket and the top sheet capable of receiving a written shopping list or the like, and the pocket and a backing member, the stack being bound at its upper end. The pocket is capable of receiving coupons particularly related to the items listed on the top sheet. The second sheet is provided with tabs to facilitate access to the respective pages. A cover sheet may be provided. The pages may be scored adjacent the top end thereof for detachment from the stack. The backing member may be provided with a magnetic strip to enable mounting of the pad on a metallic surface, say a refrigerator. Other indicia, i.e. notes, reminders, etc. can be scribed on the top sheet of the dual-pages in addition to or in lieu of a shopping list.

Abstract: An apparatus for supporting a book or magazine for reading includes a bottom member and a top member. The top member is elevated at one end above the bottom member and is adapted to pivot from a first closed position for reading into a second open position for turning the pages. At least a portion of the top member is transparent to permit viewing of printed matter through the top member, which is adapted to press upon the book or magazine when it is disposed in the first position. A lip is attached to the bottom member and is used to further retain the book or magazine in position. A receiving member is optionally attached to a back of the bottom member and is used to attach either a leg or a handle thereto.

Abstract: A novel file folder, box and panel designed with pre-perforated holes, grooves and slots where the file folder at least comprises two pieces of panel, on which a plurality of holes, grooves, slots, and border indentations are pre-perforated. The file folder panel has at least a flap on its periphery. The pre-perforated holes, grooves and slots are fit for installing a variety of file clips. The pre-perforated holes and slots also permit fixing and winding the elastic trap. The flap, after being erected up in place, allows the file clip and elastic trap to band together. The invention provides a separate design of file folder panels and file clips to form varying combinations, functions and economical benefits as the end-user desires.

Abstract: A plastic folder, for holding sheets of paper, which includes a front cover and a back cover connected by a hinge. The hinge includes a first fold line adjacent to the front cover, and a second fold line adjacent to the back cover, and a third fold line intermediate the first and second fold lines, thereby dividing the hinge into a first portion adjacent to the front cover and a second portion adjacent to the back cover. A pair of weld areas are disposed in the hinge so as to connect the first hinge portion to the second hinge portion. The weld areas are spaced from one another so as to produce a holding force on the paper inserted into the plastic folder. The first and second fold lines, together with the welded areas, produce a plastic folder that more securely, and durably, holds paper therein.

Abstract: A reusable checklist device for providing a checklist which is erasable. The reusable checklist device includes a panel having a front surface, a back surface, an upper edge, a bottom edge, a first side edge, and a second side edge. The panel is substantially rigid. A plurality of number indicia is located on the front surface and extends between the upper and bottom edges. Each of a plurality of horizontal lines extends between one of the numerals and the second side edge. An erasable writing utensil is adapted for removably writing on the front surface. A sleeve has an open end and is attached to the front surface. The erasable writing utensil is extendable into the open end of the sleeve such that the erasable writing utensil is removably stored in the sleeve.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a binding element for binding a stack of documents comprised of loose sheets, having a spine piece and two side pieces, the side pieces being arranged essentially perpendicular to the spine piece. The binding element is made of a shape memory material or has at least part of the binding element made of a shape memory material.

Abstract: A device for communicating with a voice-disabled patient includes, generally, a housing having a display surface, indicia on the display surface that may be utilized by the patient to indicate the status and needs of the patient, and a marker that the patient may use to convey his or her status and needs to a third party. One embodiment includes a clipboard having two eraser-board surfaces and an erasable marker connectable to the clipboard. Another embodiment includes a lap-sized housing for a computer and a touch pad-activated screen. In both embodiments, the indicia includes a series of descriptive words and phrases indicating the status and needs of the patient, and graphical representations of anterior and posterior views of a human body with descriptive words correlating to common symptoms of specific parts of the body.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a filing element such as a suspended file or file folder for the introduction of documents and an identification strip, characterized in that the identification strip exhibits at least one series of sites, each of which is identified by an alphanumeric labeling that is permanent and invariable for the totality of the elements of a filing system, with one of the sites of the series also having at least one colored identification labeling, with the choice of the labeling colors and the labeling site being specific to the given filing element.

Abstract: A foldable paper sheet is formed having a sheet body portion, a sheet lower side flap extending out from a lower side edge of the sheet body portion, a pocket panel extending out from a bottom edge of the sheet body portion, and a pocket side flap extending out from a side edge of the pocket panel. The pocket side flap is folded in towards the pocket panel, the pocket panel is folded up and the pocket side flap is glued to the back face of the sheet body portion. The sheet lower side flap is folded and glued to the pocket panel. The pocket panel is thereby secured along both side edges to the sheet body portion, has an open top and thus defines a pocket on the back of the sheet body portion. The pocket panel can have a finger notch at the center of its top edge. A tab is cut out of the edge portion of the sheet body portion to form a tabbed divider sheet. The tab advantageously can be formed at any location along the edge portion including at a lower location directly adjacent to the pocket.

In an unused state hanging device is retracted while in a use state hanging device is extended for being capable of banging object. A space is formed between spoon-like members and recessed portion for holding an elongate object such as a pen.

Abstract: A book prop with storage space which is light in weight, collapsable, and allows the angle of repose of a book leaning against it to be varied. The book prop comprises two elongated rigid members joined by a flexible web. In use, the book rests on top of the rear member and the bottom of the book abuts the rear of the front member. The flexible web maintains the distance between the front and rear members. Rolling the flexible web onto the front member shortens the distance between the front and rear members, thereby increasing the angle of repose of a book being supported. The rear member, which is hollow and has an end closure, allows storage of pens, pencils, rolls of paper, etc.

Abstract: A holder for supporting a book upright and open. The holder includes a base portion upon which is positioned a movable portion. The base portion includes a foot for positioning upon a supporting surface and supporting the bottom of a book. A leg extends upwardly from the foot. The movable portion has both a spine that slidably engages the leg and a pair of outstretched arms extending from the spine. An uncomplicated locking mechanism is provided for fixing the position of the movable portion on the base portion. A pair of hook-like hands is affixed at the ends of the arms for grasping the top of an opened book.

Abstract: A transportable note pad holder that includes a main body having a note pad well for carrying a note pad. The main body is adapted to be removably carried within a sheath. The sheath includes a means for attachment to an article, illustrated as a pair of resilient arm clips that may be used to attach the sheath to a back pack strap or the like. To remind the user that a note carried within the main body is to be reviewed, the main body is provided with an alarm. Preferably, the alarm is connected to a lamp that will draw the attention of the user to the note pad holder. The lamp may also be arranged to illuminate the interior of the main body in order to allow a user to read any notes carried thereby.

Abstract: A drawing board for field work is configured particularly for the engineering and contracting trade, for making rough on site sketches of construction and other layouts in the field. The present board comprises a rigid sheet of material having a recessed paper or sheet retaining area in its center, with a slightly raised periphery. The periphery is relatively wide, and includes a series of reference tables thereon. The recessed central area includes a sheet retaining clip at its upper edge, with a sheet retaining relief or slot formed in the opposite lower edge. The floor of the sheet retaining area may have a different color than the border area. The present drawing board is dimensioned particularly for “B” size (11 by 17 inch) paper in the central sheet retention area, as commonly used for drawings in the technical trades, with the outer border including a compass for orientation in the field.

Abstract: An improved file folder specially adapted to conventional printers and optical scanners and a system and method for printing and using the improved folder. The improved folder has an enclosure for holding documents and printable panels with an integrated tab and integrated document labels. The folder panels, integrated tab and labels are printed with machine-readable identifying indicia and text in one pass through a standard printer. The tab is foldable such that folder identifying indicia and text are visible from either the front or back side of the folder. After printing, the documents labels are removable and affixable to the folder documents. Images of the folder documents are captured with a standard optical scanner which also reads the document identifying indicia printed on the labels. The document images form a database indexed according to the indicia printed on the document labels.

Abstract: A kit for making an original holder is disclosed. In the kit, a holder 10 of A4 size with a paper fastener 7 is divided into two and provided as two members 11 and 12. The member 11, consisting of a front panel 1 isolated from other portions of the holder cover, is a substantially flat paper sheet and generally rectangular in standardized lengthwise A4 size which is adapted to be passed through common personal printers easily. The member 12 consists of the rest of the holder cover and a paper fastener 7. The rest of the cover is made with a single paper sheet in which a back panel 2, a spine panel 3, a pleat 4 and a joint portion 5 are defined by folding the sheet, and the paper fastener 7 is secured on the pleat 4. A double-coated adhesive tape 6 is adhesively bonded on the outside surface of the joint portion 5 along a line a—a. Upon making the holder 10 with this kit, the member 11 is fed through a printer and any desired designs are printed thereon.

A small portion of each file sheet is too wide to enter a slit. For smooth operation and durability in small embodiments, plasticized paper is used for both the file sheet holders and file sheets.

Abstract: A double album of photograph display includes two mirror image portions located on opposite sides of a central web. Each mirror image portion is formed with a stiff, rectangular outer cover panel, an intermediate end panel, and a stiff inner cover panel. A packet of photograph mounting sheets is secured to the inside surface of the end panel of each mirror image portion of the base structure. Each of the photograph mounting sheets is capable of mounting at least one photograph. Preferably, pockets are provided in each photograph mounting sheet to accommodate a plurality of photographs in each mounting sheet. Photograph viewing windows are formed through the inner cover panels. Mutually engageable fasteners on each side of the central web may be provided to hold each packet within the confines of its associated outer and inner cover panel and the end panel to which the packet is secured.

Abstract: A binder insert with a folder portion and a clip. The folder portion defines at least one ring aperture configured and dimensioned to receive and mount to rings of a binder. The folder portion also has a first sheet defining a clip-mounting aperture and a second sheet facing the first sheet. The clip includes first and second clip portions resiliently biased toward each other. The clip is mounted to the first sheet through the clip-mounting aperture, and the first and second clip portions are disposed in a clamping position on the exterior of the first and second sheets and compressively engaged against the sheets to bias them against each other.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a variety of pockets associated with a binder. In one embodiment, a ruler pocket that is formed from a mesh is sewn to the spine of a binder. Another embodiment discloses a mesh pocket formed over a VELCRO flap which is designed to strap the binder closed. There are two VELCRO closures involved with the flap, one VELCRO closer serving to close the pocket, and the other VELCRO pair serving to hold the two binder covers together. Yet another embodiment discloses a pocket inside of the binder where the front side of the pocket is made of fabric, the back side is made of mesh, with a center divider forming two pockets. Each pocket may be securely closed by a VELCRO book and loop system or a zipper mechanism to open and close the pockets.

Abstract: A portable clipboard organizer including at least one lower compartment tray which is selectively closed by a lid pivotally attached at one end thereof. The lid functions as a clipboard having a clamp assembly mounted thereto from which extends a clip for engaging an end of the tray to thereby latch the lid to the tray. In a preferred embodiment a holding mechanism is secured to selectively extend upwardly from the clamp assembly for purposes of supporting items above the clipboard and for also providing leverage for opening the clamp assembly.

The inventive device includes a base having a pair of opposing slots, and a cover having a pair of opposing pins that are slidably positioned within the slots. The cover is formed to removably fit within the interior cavity of the base and for removably covering the interior cavity of the base. Various documents may be stored and utilized within the base and the cover along with various auxiliary devices such as clamps and partition members.

Abstract: A storytelling book with clear loose-leaf page holders is provided so that a person, such as a child, can illustrate and narrate with text a story of his or her own invention on a series of insertion pages and then present that story to an audience. A selected number of pages comprising the insertion pages created by the storyteller, and corresponding insertion pages, are arranged in book-like fashion and bound together so that the book may be disposed either with the pages flat on a support or in easel-like disposition. A first side of one of the pages is disposed in proximity to a second side of an adjacent page when the book-like arrangement is in a closed condition. The pages are disposed so that the person listening to the story sees the first sides and their respective illustrations or pictures while the storyteller or reader sees the second page sides and their corresponding text.

Abstract: An improved strap connection system for releasably binding pages together within covers in a lay flat condition including a pair of cover pieces and a strap having one end anchored to one cover piece, the other end extending away from the cover piece and an arrangement for releasably securing the extending end of the strap to the other cover piece. In a preferred embodiment, the improved strap connection system is utilized in an album including a front album cover, a rear album cover and a pair of flexible strap members with one end fixedly secured to the rear cover and with the other end extending away from the rear cover. The arrangement for releasably securing the extending ends of the strap members preferably comprises a retaining sheet attached to and forming a pocket with the front cover and the extending ends may include a textured surface for frictionally retaining the ends within the pocket.

Abstract: The system includes multiple components that may be used individually, or in conjunction with other components of the system, including a copy holder, paper organizer and a monitor-mounted copy holder. The copy holder/stand accommodates a variety of paper sizes in either portrait or landscape orientation. The copy stand includes a base stand and a removable copy holder, thus allowing the copy holder to be used as a clip board. The copy holder is rotatable about the base stand, thus allowing variation of the relative angle between the user and the copy holder. The copy holder includes at least one clip, and preferably at least two different types of clips. The clips may hold papers and documents against the copy holder as well as provide a means of highlighting or marking regions of particular interest on a document page. The paper organizer may either stand-alone or be held within an opening in the base stand of the copy holder.

Abstract: A page holder adapted to hold opposing pages of a book in an open position while reading. The page holder includes first and second wings meeting at a junction point and disposed at an angle of about 150° with respect to each other. A thumb opening is spaced back from the leading surface of the first and second wings and offset slightly from the junction point toward the first wing. In use, the reader's thumb is inserted into the thumb opening and the junction point is placed between two adjoining pages of an open book near the bottom of the pages. One wing extends over and holds down the page on the right while the other wing holds down the page on the left. One embodiment of the invention is formed of clear plastic material using injection molding, while another embodiment is made of metal wire using wireform manufacturing techniques.

Abstract: A portfolio for holding items such as sheets of paper is constructed a single sheet of translucent material having a scored line to act as a hinge and divided the material into front and back covers. The portfolio is provided with at least three pockets constructed of transparent material welded onto the portfolio. Two of the pockets are provided on the interior of the front and back covers for retaining sheets of paper, and a third pocket is provided on the exterior surface of the front cover for holding a sheet of material such as a cover label. The pockets may be provided with cutouts to allow expansion of the pockets and stress relief structures to prevent tearing of the pockets upon repeated insertion and removal of items from the pockets. The portfolio also includes a plurality of holes for attachment in a ringed binder and slits running from the holes to the hinge to permit insertion of the portfolio into the binder without opening the rings.

Abstract: A notepad and writing instrument holder, particularly adapted for mounting on a surface within the interior of an automobile, for example, includes one piece construction comprising a molded plastic structure with first and second members which are hinged together along a living hinge portion. One of the members nests within the other such that opposed side panels of each member cooperate to retain the two members in a fixed position relative to each other to provide a writing surface for a notepad which is adjustable to suit the writer's needs and position relative to the notepad holder. Ratchet teeth formed on one member cooperate with detent members formed on the other member. The notepad holder may be injection molded in a generally flat planar configuration and the two members are formed by folding circular sector shaped side panels of each member with respect to center panels of each member into their working positions.

Abstract: A folder designed as a clipboard file for non-perforated documents has one or more index sheets (14-18) retained in the back of the folder (3) by folding lines (24) which engage behind a clamp (5). Pressure is applied to a friction clamping spring (9) for moving the spring between closed and opened positions by applying pressure to a front leg (8) of the spring.

Abstract: The folder is made with a pair of sections, each of which is provided with an inside panel to form a pocket. The inside panel and the front panel of each section of the folder is provided with vertical and horizontal score lines adjacent the respective edges of the folder to permit expansion of the pockets when filled with paper or the like. The folder is also provided with a pair of score lines on opposite sides of the vertical fold line to allow the folder to triangulate along the vertical fold line when the folder is filled to capacity. When filled to capacity, the folder retains a flat appearance.

Abstract: A book holder is disclosed which addresses the unique and heretofore unresolved needs of readers of paperback pocketbooks. In its simplest form, the holder consists of two pieces interlocked so that they are capable of sliding lengthwise in relation to one another. One end of each piece is formed so that when the device is laid upon any flat surface and extended to its most open position, and open paperback pocketbook may be laid face up on top, then the device slid closed to such a position that the formed ends cup over the open pages on opposite sides, thus restraining same for easy viewing. The device includes a detent so as to prevent sliding out of the interlock and falling apart, yet this detent needs be such that it can be overcome with reasonable hand force to allow cleaning or removal of foreign objects.

Abstract: A chest mounted book holder for carrying a field guide or other reading matter while hiking or observing nature attached to the chest area of an outer garment or to an adjustable upper body harness. The book holder includes page holders for holding the book open at a desired page and protects the pages from turning in the wind and is equipped with side stops so the book cannot fall out. Adjusting straps allow the book to be positioned at a comfortable distance and angle from the reader and can be folded and secured against the chest when not in use. The user is able to turn the pages of a book when the book holder is in an open position and to make notes on the book or adjacent to it.

Abstract: A clip that is attached to a checkbook and that will hold the checkbook in an open condition to enable a person to enter information from the checkbook into, for example a computer, without having to hold the checkbook open with one hand. The second bar has a fourth bar that is perpendicular to the second bar. The fourth bar pivots with respect to the second bar for storage.
