Book Or Leaf Holder Patents (Class 281/45)
  • Patent number: 4620725
Abstract: A forms set comprising a pair of covers and a set of blanks held therebetween. One or both of the covers have magnetic material therein which is magnetized so that the covers are held closed by the magnetic attraction therebetween. Also, one or both of the external surfaces of the set of blanks has a portion thereof made of magnetic material which is magnetically attracted by the one or more magnetized covers. The non-magnetic portion of the external surfaces enables the magnetic force to travel between the covers. In an alternative embodiment, the external surface is placed in a pouch disposed in the inside of the cover. The magnetic holding of the covers enables easy replacement of the set of blanks or one or more of the blanks therein.

  • Patent number: 4605246
Abstract: A writing board is provided for mounting an overlying sheet for writing information thereon and an underlying sheet for storing a copy of the information. The board comprises a board having a writing surface thereon wherein portions of the surface are non-adhesive and tacky. A mounting means is attached to the board for removably mounting to the board the overlying sheet along an edge of the sheet. Portions of the non-adhesive tacky surface grip the underlying sheet to the surface to prevent slippage of the underlying sheet while writing thereon. Preferably, an other mounting means is attached to the board for additionally removably mounting the underlying sheet to the board along the edge of the sheet. The preferred mounting means it comprises a plurality of clips, wherein a means is provided for releasing the clip upon forcing the board down on a hard surface. Preferably the underlying sheet is a plurality of temporary identification badges and the overlying sheet a log therefore.

  • Patent number: 4596333
Abstract: A sheet holder for releasably restraining a stack of sheets of varying thickness so that operations such as writing or drawing can be performed on the top sheet. The sheets are supported on a stack support shelf secured to a base. A retainer is pivoted to the same base and has a portion which overlies the front edge of a stack of sheets on the support shelf. A rubber band, spring or other elastic member may be provided to apply a force to the retainer urging it into retaining engagement with the stack of sheets and an alignment member acts as a guide to maintain the sheets in the stack in alignment with each other. The elastic member and the alignment member may be the same part. In one embodiment the retainer also serves as a hand rest for a person performing operations on the stack of sheets. A prop or leg may be provided to releasably hold the retainer out of contact with the stack of sheets so that sheets may easily be added or removed.

  • Patent number: 4591187
Abstract: A device for retaining a book, such as a telephone directory, in a holder or on a flat surface, in order to prevent unauthorized removal or theft of the book. A plurality of pin-like retainer members are mounted in a pair of mounting members in laterally spaced, parallel relation. The number of retainers is determined by the thickness of the book. The pointed ends of the pin-like retainer members are shifted into the ends of the book and the assembly is secured either to the flat surface or to a support bar that is riveted or otherwise secured to the inner surface of the back of the holder. The pin-like retainers are frictionally retained either in a series of laterally spaced slots or bores in the mounting members so as not to be removable therefrom without the use of a tool and a substantial amount of force.

  • Patent number: 4586729
Abstract: A magnetic covered folio case is formed of a pair of magnetizable sheet members forming the covers with oppositely polarized areas on these cover members, so that they will be attracted one to the other when in facing proximity. Arranged between the cover members are a plurality of hingedly attached folio sheets in an accordian folded configuration, with each end folio sheet secured to a cover. Separating the cover members extends the accordian folded folio sheets, exposing the faces of the folio sheets, which may be formed to accommodate writing. There may be secured to the faces of the accordian folded folio sheets one or more pocket forming members to retain articles on said sheets. • Patent number: 4583708
Abstract: A vertical support shaft projects down from the underside of a telephone booth shelf and supports the inner end of an arm swivelable horizontally about the shaft. The outer end of the arm is hingedly coupled to a telephone directory binder so that the binder is pivotable about a horizontal axis at such end and transverse to the arm's centerline. The binder's centerline is parallel to a reference line passing through such axes at an acute angle b. When the arm is on "in" position the binder is stored beneath the shelf in primary alignment with its width. When the arm is pulled out and the binder is pivoted out, up and over, the binder goes through a motion equivalent to an angular displacement of 2b to come to rest face-up with an alignment parallel to its former widthwise alignment.

  • Patent number: 4351546
Abstract: In a channel clip report binder of the type wherein the marginal edges of a stack of leaves to be bound together are clipped between a pair of resilient side walls of a channel clip member, a cover is provided by hinging together major and minor portions of front and back cover sheet portions, respectively. The minor portions of each of the front and back cover sheets are bonded to the outer faces of the channel side walls in mutually opposed face-to-face relation. The hinges of each of said front and back cover sheets are disposed generally parallel to and adjacent to the base portion of the channel clip member. In one method of cover construction, a unitary cover sheet is pleated to provide a minor cover portion having one inwardly directed inverted V-shaped pleat adapted to receive the channel clip member.

  • Patent number: 4296946
Abstract: A book support consists of a book supporting plate and a back plate hinged to the top of the front plate and extending outwardly and downwardly when extended, to form an inverted V when viewed in side elevation. A cord is secured by each end thereof to the sides of the front plate and extend through guide apertures at the sides of the back plate to be hooked over one of several projections on the back plate to adjust the angle between the plates. A pair of slide members extend one from each side of the front plate to adjust to the width of the book and a further cord is detachably secured by one end thereof to one of said slides, passes across the open book and detachably hooks onto the other of said slides to hold the pages relatively flat. This cord is disengaged from the other slide when a page is to be turned and rehooked afterwards to hold the pages open and relatively flat. The holder can be folded relatively flat for storage, without removing the book from the holder.

  • Patent number: 4285532
Abstract: A book marker useful to mark a page in a book as well as hold a page down while the book is being read is disclosed. The device has a frame which supports and guides a pair of cover engaging members. These markers have elongated C-shaped portions which hook over the upper and lower edges of a book cover and are biased towards one another. An arm is pivotally attached to an outer corner of one of the C-shaped portions. The end of the arm has a swingable page marker extending over the page of the book. Preferably this page marker is a thin stiff wire that minimizes any obstructions to reading the book. The arm is spring loaded causing the page marker to press against the page. This page marker can be swung out of the way when desired, for example when the book is first mounted or when a great number of pages are to be advanced. The device assists the reader by keeping the pages on one side of the book held down during reading, as well as marking the place when the book is closed.
