  • Patent number: 5139846
Abstract: The sealing strip has a main part (1') with a first sealing lip (6) for making sealing contact with a pane (7) or a filling element. The pane (7) is placed against the sealing lip (6) during assembly and rests on the top (10) of a lip (9'). A recess (13') is provided in a bridge (4') in the body of the sealing strip. The foot or base (16') is a second part (2'), which carries a second sealing lip (15') in contact with the other side of the pan (7'), fits into the recess. When the foot (16') is inserted into the recess (13'), the two sealing lips (6'15') are elastically deformed and pressed against the pane (7'). The inserted foot has a groove (19, 22) at one end in which a rib (14') engages. The foot (16') and hence the part ( 2') are thus firmly anchored in the main part (1').

  • Patent number: 4968543
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a molding member, for instance for automobile windshields, formed at least partly of an extruded body of a synthetic resin material, as well as a method of manufacturing such molding members. The molding member has an integral lip section in the form of a ridge which extends throughout the entire length, as well as a core element embedded in the main body to extend into the lip section. Typically, the lip section bears against the outer surface of the window pane along the upper portion to form a flush outer surface along junctions between the upper edge of the window pane and the body panel, but is spaced therefrom along the side portions to define a weir. The weir is formed by plastically deforming a predetermined portion of the core element. The weir prevents flow of rain water across the molding member and around the side of the vehicle the driver's or navigators' sight through a window.

  • Patent number: 4939879
Abstract: A rubber sealing strip for use in conjunction with a curable adhesive for retaining an automotive window on a flange body pael in an automotive vehicle body has a cross section which allows improved retention of the window on the vehicle body. A flange on the flange body panel has an outer surface on which the window is retained by the curable adhesive. The rubber sealing strip has a first surface engaging an inner surface of the window and a second surface, opposite the first surface, engaging the flange. The first window engaging surface is wider than the second surface engaging the flange. The sealing strip has first and second side surfaces extending between the first and second surfaces forming a generally triangular cross-section. Upon assembly of the window to the flange, the sealing strip deforms in a manner wherein only a limited area of the flange is covered.
