  • Patent number: 7743511
Abstract: A trimmer line, hook disk system forming a line trimmer head (e.g., FIGS. 10 & 10A, 19 & 20) for attaching to a powered, rotational device (FIGS. 11-16) to provide a line filament grasscutting/weed-removal action. The trimmer head preferably includes a circular, protective, bottom base (D2/60/160), a main trimmer head top (D3/D30/130), the two forming a disk shape, and a series of peripherally spaced, line holders; with these three basic elements fastened together for ultimate attachment to the powered 31 device. Ten exemplary line holder are shown (FIGS. 1-9B), with most allowing oscillating (O) motion in their attachment to the trimmer device (D1), allowing the lines to move backwardly when contacting a relatively hard item, and/or some fixed (F). A “broom” embodiment is disclosed (FIG. 17). When used, flexible line, e.g. of nylon, is inserted in (1) and held (2) by the line holders preferably using hook or hook-like line attachments.

  • Patent number: 6751875
Abstract: A high-speed, hand-held attachment for flex rotor shafts of power rotary tools, and also for direct attachment to power rotary tools without flex rotor shafts, that converts rotary motion to reciprocating motion for precision control of cutting, carving, sawing, chiseling, filing, sanding, and engraving on delicate work pieces. The attachment is one assembly comprising a one-piece front one-piece enclosure (20), a rear one-piece enclosure (30), a high-speed bearing (22), a one-piece rotating piece (40) with integral cam groove, a one-piece reciprocating piece (50) with an integral cam follower on one end and with its other, exposed end accomodating the attachment of a chuck or collet and with geometry to prevent rotation, and a thumbscrew (32). Rotating piece (40) attaches directly to the rotary power source and provides the cam action drive to reciprocating piece (50). Bearing (22) provides rotative support for the other end of rotating piece (40).

  • Patent number: 6711824
Abstract: The twine cutter for a bale processor comprises a blade holder has a front end and a back end, the holder further has a top edge that is bevelled to a wedge shape at the front end, a back edge and a base edge. A drive mechanism such as an elongated handle is fixed to the holder for driving the holder back or forth. A cutter blade is fixed to the holder such that a cutting edge is bevelled towards the front of the holder and a further cutting edge is bevelled towards the back of the holder thereby being able to cut twine when the holder is driven forward or backward. The cutter blade may further include a sharpened hook shaped section used to snag and cut twine. The hook shaped section can be positioned at the apex of the triangular upper portion of the single blade. A disintegrator roller for a bale processor comprises an elongated roller arranged to rotate in one direction about its axis with a number of flails intermittently spaced along the length and around the circumference of the roller.

  • Publication number: 20040045167
Abstract: A metallic housing utility knife and method for making the device with a soft over molded elastomeric cover to provide blister free comfort and slip proof safety. The cover or skin is molded into the unique structure of the housing in a fashion that results in mechanical bonds that embrace the cover on the housing. The knife includes flexible posts from the cover that project into the blade storage compartment of the housing to prevent internally stored spare blades from moving within the storage compartment. An elastomeric blade clamp integrally formed with the cover serves to restrict lateral movement of blades of varying sizes when installed in a cutting position within the knife assembly. A rear quick release latch and interlocking housing sections provide a convenient way to open and close the knife and assure that it is also secure and firmly held when locked in a safe cutting position.
