  • Patent number: 11485039
Abstract: A stop has an elongate form between a base and a tip, with the base configured to be attachable to a chainsaw bar closer to a free end of the bar then to a housing of the chainsaw to which the bar is mounted. The stop extends below a lower edge of the bar. Bolts or other fasteners pass through holes in the stop and through holes in the bar for attachment. Positioning of the stop separates a tip space from a main space where chain teeth can cut wooden material. Smaller branches can conveniently be cut in the tip space while larger wooden material can be cut in the main space. The stop is configured to include clearance for the chain to pass thereby, such as by including standoffs in the stop adjacent to holes at the base, or by providing a clearance groove or clearance bend.

  • Patent number: 11065700
Abstract: Post notch forming tool mounted on a handheld saw blade for forming a notch in a post end. The tool has a base, a handle, and two L-shaped members with bolt assemblies for attaching the tool to the saw blade. The base has a first extended lip which slides downwardly along the post's outer surface to guide the tool to form a 3-inch notch. A spacer member is selectively attached to the L-shaped members and has a second extended lip which slides downwardly along the post's outer surface to guide the tool to form a 1½ inch notch. Method steps include using the power saw blade to form a transverse cut intersecting the longitudinal axis, using the extended lip of the base to form a 3-inch notch, or attaching the spacer member and using its extended lip to form a 1½ inch notch in the post's outer surface.

  • Patent number: 10307886
Abstract: A power tool that drives rotary cutting element has a retractable guard for the cutting element, and a guard control apparatus allows a user to maintain the guard in a retracted position during operation of the power tool. The guard control apparatus includes an auxiliary handle fastened to the housing of the power tool, and latching elements linked to a spring-biased lever mounted in the auxiliary handle for selectively and temporarily retaining the retractable portion of the guard in a retracted position to enable plunge and other complex cutting operations. Maintaining the retractable portion of the guard in the retracted position during operation of the power tool thereby occupies both hands of the user. This not only helps the user stabilize and accurately control the power tool, but also keeps both of the user's hands safely away from the exposed cutting element in the event of a sudden kickback.

Abstract: A jigsaw includes a housing containing a motor activated by a trigger assembly. A shoe member is pivotally connected to the housing of the jigsaw and establishes an angle therebetween. The jigsaw includes a keel assembly includes a blade member that generally extends from the housing beyond the shoe member. The keel assembly remains generally in line with the housing as the angle between the shoe member and the housing varies. The jigsaw also includes a latch assembly capable of retaining and releasing the keel assembly from the housing.

Abstract: The invention provides a chain saw attachment for unobstructed cutting of smaller objects with diameters less than three inches and larger objects with diameters greater than three inches. The attachment includes a set of prongs that vertically extend at an acute angle from a cover above the cutting teeth of the chain saw blade to a specified distance below the blade. The prongs stabilize small objects from whipping and dragging when engaged by the cutting teeth and facilitate the cutting of brush with diameter equal to height of the blade. Moreover, the cover does not extend the full length of the blade to allow for fully unobstructed cuts using the uncovered section of the blade. The cover increase safe operation of the chain saw and distributes stress from a particular prong over the entire attachment.

  • Patent number: 7861416
Abstract: A linear gauging device when attached to a chain saw bar will facilitate in the accurate measurement and swift successive cutting of a log into pre-determined uniform lengths of firewood. A chainsaw attachment consisting of an elongated resilient rod having one end fitted with a powerful magnet and an anti-slip locking stud, when extended through a single bore in the chainsaw bar, allows the effortless attachment to any chain saw bar. The locking stud fitted with a bore to receive a modified cotter pin thus performing a failsafe means of attachment. The said rod extended perpendicular to the cutting plane and lengthwise to the log. The opposing end of the rod is fitted with a large disc, when firmly locked against the end of the log, will position the chain saw cutting bar in the exact location of the measured length of cut. In contrast to the fixed measured length of the gauging rod, a variable length rod can be manufactured consisting of two rods, a hollowed outer rod and a telescoping inter rod.

  • Patent number: 7841092
Abstract: A hand-held circular saw designed for making square cuts on workpieces. The saw is equipped with a pair of retractable guide pins located near the rear of the blade; when both pins touch the front edge of the workpiece the saw's blade is automatically perpendicular to it. The saw is also equipped with at least one torsion spring that temporarily holds the saw's blade above the workpiece. Without moving the saw's base, the user turns on the saw, and pressing downwardly on its handle, lowers the blade into the workpiece, making a square cut with the accuracy of a cut-off saw. The guide pins can also be automatically or manually retracted to convert the improved saw back to a conventional saw.

Abstract: A splitter for installation behind a rotating blade of a table saw to prevent contact between the kerf of a work piece and the upwardly moving rear portion of the saw blade. The splitter is indexed from the side of an actual kerf rather than from a side of the saw blade. In this manner, variations in kerf width resulting from variations in blade width and vibration of the saw blade are accommodated. Splitters having work piece contacting surfaces with incremental amounts of offset relative to the side of the kerf may be selected to provide a desired degree of interference and resulting force between the splitter and the work piece.
