An emergency shut-off unit (28a-d) enables an emergency shut-off of an operation of the tool (26a-d) when the operating element (14a-d, 16a-d) is activated. The shut-off unit (18a-d) and the emergency shut-off unit (28a-d) are at least partially formed integrally.

  • Patent number: 8261456
Abstract: A hand saw that includes a saw blade and a handle assembly having a clamp member movable between a clamped position and a released position. In the clamped position the clamp member exerts a clamping force on a top edge of the saw blade within a slot of the handle assembly to couple the saw blade to the handle assembly and to retain a tang of the saw blade within the slot. In the released position the tang is removable from the slot. A first interior wall and a second interior wall of the handle assembly that define the slot are flat such that the tang of the saw blade can be removed from the slot without moving the saw blade in a direction normal to a longitudinal axis of the saw blade when the clamp member is in the released position.

  • Patent number: 8191268
Abstract: An apparatus for the cutting of tree limbs includes an extensible drive shaft that is detachably-attachable at one end to a portable electric drill and is secured to a housing at an opposite end thereof. The housing converts the rotary motion that is supplied by the drill into reciprocating motion of a saw blade and it disposes the saw blade at an angle with respect to the drive shaft that is slightly less than 90 degrees. An extensible two-part cylindrical outer sleeve covers the drive shaft and is detachably-attached at one end thereof to the drill and at an opposite end to the housing. A hook is provided in the housing and is used to grab and urge severed limbs where desired. An optional clamping mechanism is attached to the housing and is used initially to urge the blade and the limb toward each other during cutting and then to retain the limb proximate the housing after it has been cut for controlled placement and safe release of the limb.

Abstract: A power tool includes a handle including a support portion movably supportable on a housing portion and extending substantially about the circumference of the housing portion. The support portion may include a second end movable relative to a first end such that the support portion selectively applies a force to the housing portion. The tool may include a bevel angle detent mechanism in which one of the detent member and the recess is angularly adjustable relative to the associated one of the detent support and the recess support to adjust the predetermined bevel angle position. A bevel angle detent mechanism may include an engagement operating assembly operable between a detent engagement-enabled condition, in which the detent member is engageable in the recess, and a detent engagement-prevention condition, in which the detent member is prevented from engaging the recess. The tool may include a spindle lock assembly.

Abstract: A tool for removing unwanted plants from an area of soil is disclosed. A flexible two-edged blade bent back upon itself with both ends fastened to a common shaft. One edge acts as a knife to slice through soil and roots, moving parallel to the surface of the ground. The opposing blade edge has teeth to grasp, uproot and remove unwanted plants. The design facilitates the removal of unwanted plants or debris without touching said debris with the hands.
