Including Means To Press Work To Saw Blade Patents (Class 30/378)
  • Patent number: 11453139
Abstract: A self-propelled cutter has a gear assembly to provide both downward and forward force on a material to be cut. A gear assembly includes a drive input gear that engages with a transfer gear and propulsion gear engaged with the transfer gear by a lever arm. The drive gear and transfer gear are coupled and fixed to the cutter body but the propulsion gear rotates about the transfer gear via the lever arm. This gear assembly enables the propulsion gear to move as required to provide both downward and forward force on a material to be cut, such as a cast. A self-propelled cutter may have a drive input that is coupled with a drive input device, such as a crank or an electric motor. A cutter may have a first gear assembly on a first side of the cutter body and a second gear assembly on a second side.

  • Patent number: 7121008
Abstract: The invention relates to a powered reciprocating saw. To simplify use of the saw, a clamping mechanism is provided which holds an object in position while it is sawn. The clamping mechanism is mounted at the front of the housing of the saw near the saw blade. The clamping mechanism comprises: a slide element for sliding movement in the cutting direction, a supporting member, and a clamping arm rotatably mounted on the slide element by a one way clutch to clamp an object therebetween in a clamping position below the saw blade. When the saw is in use, it vibrates. Since the clamping arm has a moment of inertia with respect to the axis of rotation of the one way clutch, the oscillating movement is transformed into a progressive rotational movement of the clamping arm to clamp an object.

  • Patent number: 6449851
Abstract: The invention relates to a powered reciprocating saw, in particular, to a pruning saw. To simplify use of the saw, a clamping mechanism is provided which holds an object in position while it is sawed. The clamping mechanism includes a clamping arm that is mounted at the front portion of the saw housing near the blade by a one way rotary clutch such that the arm can freely rotate in only one direction. During use, the saw vibrates due to its reciprocating parts. Since the clamping arm has a center of mass spaced apart from the axis of rotation provided by the one way rotary clutch, a progressive rotational movement of the clamping arm results which thereby automatically closes to clamp the object to be cut.

  • Patent number: 6067716
Abstract: The pipe cutter attachment has a way mounted on a portable power saw with a reciprocating saw blade. The way is mounted on the power saw by an attaching assembly that accommodates the power saw that is used. A pipe holder block is slidably supported by the way. A pipe receiving slot with an open end is formed in the pipe holder block. The saw blade is in a saw blade slot in the pipe holder block. During cutting of a pipe the saw blade moves into the pipe receiving slot, engages a pipe to be cut and moves toward the open end of the pipe receiving slot. A resilient member urges the pipe holder block toward a position in which the saw blade is in the pipe holder block and ready to engage and cut a pipe seated in the pipe receiving slot.

  • Patent number: 5093997
Abstract: A jigsaw-type saw blade, typically 6".times.3/8".times.1/8" stainless steel having teeth angled to saw only in a thrusting direction, is fixed to a handle, typically plastic, that engages the thumb. Two jaws of a sliding vise member each slide independently along the saw blade. A first one of the vise's jaws is biased in separation from the handle by a spring that extends coaxially about the saw blade between the jaw and handle. The remaining, second, jaw presents an external surface contoured to receive two fingers disposed in symmetrical positions on either side of the saw blade. In use for clamping and sawing, a workpiece is inserted between the vise's jaws and into a first position proximate to the saw blade while the sliding vise member is in a position extended from the handle. The handle and the second jaw are grasped and squeezed between the thumb and a two fingers, thereby simultaneously clamping and sawing the workpiece.
