To Vary Projection Of Saw Blade Patents (Class 30/377)
  • Saw
    Patent number: 4353165
Abstract: A rotatable portable saw has a saw blade 2 which is pivotally mounted with respect to plate 15 so that the position of the blade relative to the plate 15 can be altered to alter the depth of cut. In a modified form the saw blade can be angled slightly to the direction of traverse of the saw so that the width of the cut can be made slightly greater than the width of the blade. In use the saw is traversed across a workpiece with the blade positioned to produce a scribing cut in the surface of the workpiece and then traversed back across the workpiece, after lowering the blade position relative to the workpiece, so that the workpiece is cut right through. In this way, for a given directional rotation of the blade, the blade can be made always to approach the surface being cut so that splintering of the workpiece is substantially reduced or eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4343115
Abstract: A protecting hood assembly for use in a motor-driven hand tool such as grinder or circular saw. The assembly includes a hood having a pair of openings, each being formed with a narrowing portion of a squared cross-section and a widened portion forming a slot, a pair of vertically positioned supporting members each having a longitudinal slit and a couple of bolts having each a peripheral portion inserted into said slit and said opening. The widened portion of the opening receiving the bolt is formed with a size in a horizontal direction being larger that a diameter of the peripheral portion of the bolt and a size in a vertical direction being smaller that said diameter to facilitate the installation of the bolt into the hood opening upon assembling and to provide a reliable clamping of said bolt in assembly after insertion thereof.

  • Patent number: 4319433
Abstract: A tool for use in cutting parts of automotive components, such as exhaust systems, shock absorber units and the like, to facilitate removal and replacement of the components. The tool comprises a portable housing of a size and shape to be manually gripped by a user, an air motor within the housing including an output shaft extending generally longitudinally outwardly of one end thereof, a manually actuated trigger for selectively communicating a source of air under pressure with the air motor to operate the same and rotatably drive the output shaft, a thin cutting disc of abrasive material fixed concentrically on the shaft longitudinally in spaced relation with respect to the housing, and a protective shield structure molded of transparent rigid plastic material.

  • Patent number: 4316323
Abstract: A blade housing for a cast cutting tool which is used to remove a plaster cast from a patient is provided. The housing is polygonal shaped and includes a number of flat sides through which the circular saw blade of the cast cutting tool projects. The saw blade projects a different distance from each of the flat sides. The housing is attached to the body of the cast cutting tool so that the housing can be rotatably adjusted about the shaft mounting the saw blade. By rotating the housing, a different flat face can be presented to the cutting area. In this manner, the flat face having the desired distance of projection of the saw blade, or the desired depth of the cut, is easily selected by the user. The housing acts to collect the dust generated by the cutting, and to help clean the dust from the blade a felt covering on the flat sides is provided. A dust collecting bag is attached to the housing to provide a receptacle for the dust collected in the housing.

  • Patent number: 4247148
Abstract: The present invention relates to an asphalt cutter including a fork to be attached to a working machine or the like. A cutting disc is rotatably supported on a shaft attached to and extending between the legs of the fork. A guiding device, preferably in the shape of a housing, at least in part enclosing the cutting disc is provided with a slot through which the cutting disc is projectable. The guiding device is continuously shiftable in the longitudinal direction of the fork between a position in which the cutting disc is substantially retracted into the slot and a position in which the cutting disc extends a predetermined amount outwardly from the slot.
