  • Patent number: 4963780
Abstract: The turbine wheel (30) in the flow duct (28) of the water fitting (10) is subjected to water flowing in the flow direction (S). The turbine wheel (30) drives the rotor (64) of the generator (16) via the common shaft (32). The rotor (16) is surrounded by the beaker-shaped sealing element (66) which is fed through the gap between the stator (80) and the rotor (64) and is connected in a leak-tight manner to the casing (12). The rotor (64) therefore rotates within the water-filled sealing element (66).

  • Patent number: 4945271
Abstract: In order to reduce noise attendant with conventional equipment, an electric generator for a vehicle is attached to the vehicle engine by a stay arrangement that places the point of connection between the generator stator and the engine significantly radially outwardly from the stator. The stay apparatus, further, cooperatively mounts a lid plate for sealing the coupling chamber which houses the elastic coupling connected to the generator rotor shaft. A gap provided between the facing surfaces of the lid plate and the coupling chamber is filled by an elastic seal for improving the noise-damping efficiency of the apparatus. The elastic coupler of the generator and drive shafts has alternating radial fins whose interspaces are filled with resilient material.

  • Patent number: 4939397
Abstract: A spray-resistant water shield is formed for an electric motor by a water shield of a plastics or elastomeric material. This water shield has a conical edge with a periphery which seals against the exterior surface of an end shield, as part of the frame of the motor. A spring in the motor urges the rotor to a position of displacement relative to the stator during de-energization of the motor so that the water spray seal is effected. When the motor is energized, the rotor tends to align with the stator and the water shield moves away from its sealed condition with the motor frame to establish normal running conditions of the motor.

  • Patent number: RE34297
Abstract: A refrigeration motor compressor assembly has a housing including a lubricant sump in the bottom thereof into which the lower end of the drive shaft and associated rotor extend. A shield is provided which is positioned by the drive shaft and extends above the oil level in the sump in surrounding spaced relationship to the lower end of the rotor. As the rotor rotates within the shield, lubricant contained therein is thrown out of the surrounding shield and a close fit between the shield and the shaft restricts return flow of lubricant into the area occupied by the rotating rotor.
