With Envelope Patents (Class 313/317)
  • Patent number: 4103206
Abstract: An envelope for hermetically containing various functional elements of an indicator tube is disclosed. The envelope includes a base plate and a transparent cover mounted on a front surface of the base plate to form a chamber with the base plate which contains a plurality of the indicator elements. The cover comprises a channel plate having a transparent upper viewing window and side ridges or walls and a pair of strips to be bonded to the open side ends of the channel plate.

  • Patent number: 4091951
Abstract: A lamp, particularly for high powers, whose envelope consists of lime glass and in which in a 30.mu. thick surface layer Na.sup.+ - and/or Li.sup.+ ions are replaced by larger ions. This results in a compressive stress in the layer which is at least 7 kg/mm.sup.2. The envelope is as strong and resistant to temperature changes as hard glass.

  • Patent number: 4090102
Abstract: A flat type indicator tube is provided with a box-like cover glass on a substrate. The cover glass forms an air tight space together with the substrate. In the space, there are provided display sections each consisting of a plurality of anode segments disposed on the substrate, grid and cathode electrodes provided above the display sections. The cover glass is comprised of a flat major section, a side wall and a flange section. The flange section comprises a flat flange contacting the substrate through glass frit and a coupling portion so shaped as to receive one end portion of the exhaust tube therein. A projection is formed on and substantially perpendicular to the inner wall of the coupling portion of the flange section. The projection is contacted and serves to restrict undesired excessive insertion of the exhaust tube into the coupling portion. The exhaust tube is hermetically fixed between the coupling portion and the substrate through glass frit.

  • Patent number: 4076143
Abstract: An improved rectangular shaped pressed glass sealed beam lamp unit is provided which includes a molded projection disposed at a particular location on the lens and reflector members to provide more reliable hermetic sealing when joined together at their peripheries. Specifically, the molded projections are provided on the back sealing surfaces of each rim region to reduce unwanted deformation which otherwise occurs when these members are initially formed by pressing the glass in molds. Said molded projections disappear for the most part during the aforesaid heat sealing assembly although the glass material remains in the rim region after joinder.

  • Patent number: 4034253
Abstract: A glass cover plate of the type having a shape of a rectangle in outline and comprising an outwardly protruded central portion for covering electrodes of a flat display panel and a peripheral flange having a planar surface for seal to a planar substrate of the display panel. A projection is formed along margins of the flange at least at each corner portion of the rectangle. The projection may extend away from the planar surface substantially in the sense in which the central portion protrudes or extend from the planar surface substantially against the sense in which the central portion protrudes.

  • Patent number: 4019080
Abstract: An evacuated envelope having at least one ceramic component and one aluminum component sealed to one another along a common interface. A metallized layer is on said ceramic component along said interface and a fused solder having an Al-Si eutectic structure with 89% aluminum and 11% silicon is along said interface.

  • Patent number: 4004173
Abstract: A closure member of refractory metal comprising essentially niobium is sealed over an aperture in an envelope of high alumina content refractory oxide material by means of an interposed sealing layer composed of at least one of the metals titanium, zirconium, vanadium, hafnium, the assembly of closure member, sealing layer and envelope being pressed together and simultaneously heated so that the closure member is alloyed with the sealing layer and hermetically bonded to the envelope. The method is especially applicable to the manufacture of a sodium vapor electric discharge lamp having a tubular envelope of sintered polycrystalline alumina with niobium end caps.

  • Patent number: 3946263
Abstract: An encapsulated lamp assembly for use under submerged conditions and in environments where the lamp may be subjected to extreme temperature variations and corrosive conditions, which includes a bulb and base unit with single or multiple filaments and leads cooperating with the filament busses. The leads are typically soldered to the busses, and the entire unit is sprayed, brushed or dipped in a silicone composition to provide a thin film of protective silicone material on the outside and on the junction between the leads and the busses. A rubber boot is positioned on the leads to insure a thick coating on the lead-bus junctions, and the lamp assembly can be fitted to any conventional bracket mechanism.

  • Patent number: 3934169
Abstract: In a picture display tubes having deflection angles of 110.degree. and more the conical central part near the transition to the neck has a substantially flat variation perpendicular to the tube axis. As a result of this an accurate positioning of the deflection device on the display tube is seriously hampered. This problem is solved by centering members which are present on the conical central part and which cooperate in a self-centering manner with centering members forming part of the supporting cage of the deflection device. The position of the deflection device in the axial direction is accurately fixed by abutment members forming part of the supporting cage in co-operation with abutment surfaces forming part of the envelope of the tube.
