Concentricity Or Eccentricity Patents (Class 33/543)
  • Patent number: 11307016
Abstract: A device and a method can be utilized to measure concentricity of an internal toothing of a component. Such a device may include a determination segment, which can determine a concentricity deviation, that includes a spindle unit comprising a tapping spindle with a gauge gear wheel arranged thereon and intended for tapping the concentricity of the internal toothing, and an output spindle for transmitting the tapped concentricity from the tapping spindle to a measuring unit. The output spindle may be arranged directly or indirectly on the tapping spindle. A spindle holder may hold and position the tapping spindle, the output spindle, or the spindle unit. An adjusting element may position the gauge gear wheel, and the measuring unit may compare the tapped concentricity with reference values.

Abstract: A device used in a spindle or fixture to measure tool sizes. The device has two cylindrical shapes that have precision machined surfaces. The device's face has a precise size which is the same nominal size as that of a material removing tool. The device's shaft allows for concentric and precision fastening of the device to a spindle or a fixture. The nose of the device is located on the end of the larger of the two cylindrical shapes which is visible exposed when mounted and used. The end of the device is at the end of the smaller of the two cylindrical shapes which is hidden after mounting. The device allows more accurate programming of machine tools thus providing higher quality results on machined work pieces and reducing machining cycles.

A pressure measuring film is superposed on an elastic mat that gradually becomes thinner in the card-inserting direction, and passed through the gap so as to determine the dimension of the gap from the position where the pressure measuring film has started to develop a color. As the elastic mat, one that has a thickness changing in steps may be used. An alternative embodiment uses a pressure measuring board in place of the pressure measuring film, the pressure measuring board having plural pressure sensors for electrically detecting pressures applied in the direction of width.

Abstract: A sensor arm (1) is inserted into a hole (3). The arm is mounted on a pivot (5) perpendicular to the arm axis so that it may be urged into engagement with the wall of the hole, e.g. by an air cylinder (12). The pivot (5) is in turn rotated about an axis passing through the hole, preferably by means of a rotary body (10). A bearing piece (16) controlling the sensor arm may be moved towards or away from the hole and rigidly supports a light sensor (8) that receives a light beam (7) from the sensor arm. The geometry of the hole is determined on the basis of the position where the light beam impinges on the sensor and the position of the bearing piece relative to the hole.

Abstract: An automated data taking and analysis system is used during maintenance overhaul of steam or gas turbines to determine the required position of internal flowpath parts so that the parts may be properly reassembled with appropriate spacing to prevent internal rubbing and resultant wear or damage to the turbine that may affect unit operation or performance. Data is taken by electronic position transducers mounted on a rotatable tube, with the transducers being installed at selected axial locations along the tube where setpoint hard bores and seals reside on flowpath components. The transducers include radially projecting surface-riding portions for contacting the cylindrical flowpath component hard bore or seal. For use with large utility or industrial turbines, the transducers have a linear range greater than 0.80 inch to accommodate relatively large amounts of component ellipticity, tube sag, component misalignment and/or variation.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for measuring the circularity of a brake drum while the brake drum is mounted upon a vehicle. The apparatus includes a linear voltage displacement transducer mounted upon a stationary portion of the vehicle. The transducer senses the variation of the braking surface and generates a signal proportional thereto. The apparatus also includes an optical encoder that generates a signal indicative of the angular position of the drum. The transducer and encoder are connected to a central processing unit which receives the transducer and encoder signals. The drum is rotated through a plurality of complete revolutions while the central processing unit combines the transducer and encoder signals to generate a set of data points. Abstract: A measuring system for measuring dimensions of an article such as a bottle has two opposed measuring heads each having a measuring probe, a contact identifying trigger operated by the probe, a base upon which the article to be measured stands, and first and second stepper motor assemblies. The stepper motor assemblies move the measuring heads horizontally and vertically. The base is angularly movable about an axis normal to the plane of the base so as to rotate an article standing on the base so that the different parts of the article are brought into a measuring plane defined as the plane in which the measuring heads move. The measuring probes then measure that part of the article lying in the measuring plane.

  • Patent number: 5339031
Abstract: A method and apparatus for inserting an eddy current hole probe into a hole specimen and automatically moving the probe in two orthogonal (X, Y) directions in response to the impedance change of an eddy current coil located in the probe as a function of distance from the surface of the hole. The probe is centered in the hole by a system controller which operates to minimize the composite deviation value of the coil impedance. The diameter of the hole is then determined from the average impedance measurement. Following this, a plot of the hole eccentricity is generated by determining the impedance deviation from the average coil impedance value as a function of the angular rotation of the probe in the hole. Measurements of the hole eccentricity for a plurality of hole depths provides an indication of the hole eccentricity profile.
