  • Patent number: 8390541
Abstract: After a sampling transistor is turned ON at a first timing when a control signal has risen, during a sampling period from a second timing when a video signal has risen from a reference potential to a signal potential to a third timing when the control signal has fallen and is turned OFF, the sampling transistor samples and writes the signal potential in a holding capacitance, and negatively feeds back a current flowing into a drive transistor during the sampling period to the holding capacitance and applies mobility correction of the drive transistor on the written signal potential. A signal driver adjusts the second timing for the video signal supplied to respective signal lines to correct a backward shift of the third timing due to a transmission delay along a scanning line of the control signal output from the control scanner.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling the output of a plurality of light sources. The system can include four or more light sources (e.g. light emitting diodes (“LEDs”)) and a controller. The light sources are included in, for example, a luminaire. The respective outputs of the plurality of light sources are controlled using a hue and purity (“HP”) control technique. The HP technique includes selecting a dominant hue (e.g., green, blue, red, etc.). The purity of the selected hue is then modified to include or remove wavelengths of light adjacent to the selected hue. For example, if the selected hue is green, gradually reducing the purity of the selected hue gradually increases the presence of cyan and amber in the output of the luminaire. As the purity is reduced further, additional wavelengths of light are included, but the output of the luminaire remains, in essence, green.

  • Patent number: 8269703
Abstract: An organic light emitting display device including a power generator for sending a plurality of voltages to a display unit. The display unit receives a scan signal, a light emitting control signal, and a data signal, which enable a current corresponding to the data signal to flow from a first power supply to a second power supply. The display unit includes a pixel circuit that includes a storage capacitor adapted to store the data signal and to stabilize the stored data signal utilizing a third power supply. A driver IC includes a signal generator for generating the data signal, the scan signal, and the light emitting control signal, and further includes a power generator for generating the first power, the second power, and the third power, wherein the second power and the third power are at a lower voltage than that of the first power.

Abstract: A color LED display device without color separation comprises a substrate, a plurality of display units, a power supply unit, and a control unit. Each display unit comprises a driving chip, at least one red-light LED chip, at least one green-light LED chip, at least one blue-light LED chip, and a micro optical device assembly. The micro optical device assembly is disposed above the red-light, green-light and blue-light LED chips. When the control unit controls the display unit to emit light, the red-light, green-light and blue-light LED chips emit red, green and blue lights respectively and simultaneously. The red, green and blue lights pass through the micro optical device assembly, such that the light paths of the red, green and blue lights are changed and the three lights are combined on a two-dimensional plane. Therefore, the color separation phenomenon of the conventional color LED display device is solved.

Abstract: A high-resolution, Active Matrix (AM) programmed monolithic Light Emitting Diode (LED) micro-array is fabricated using flip-chip technology. The fabrication process includes fabrications of an LED micro-array and an AM panel, and combining the resulting LED micro-array and AM panel using the flip-chip technology. The LED micro-array is grown and fabricated on a sapphire substrate and the AM panel can be fabricated using PMOS process, NMOS process, or CMOS process. LED pixels in a same row share a common N-bus line that is connected to the ground of AM panel while p-electrodes of the LED pixels are electrically separated such that each p-electrode is independently connected to an output of drive circuits mounted on the AM panel. The LED micro-array is flip-chip bonded to the AM panel so that the AM panel controls the LED pixels individually and the LED pixels exhibit excellent emission uniformity.

Abstract: Representative embodiments of the disclosure provide a system, apparatus, and method of controlling an intensity and spectrum of light emitted from a solid state lighting system. The solid state lighting system has a first emitted spectrum at full intensity and at a selected temperature, with a first electrical biasing for the solid state lighting system producing a first wavelength shift, and a second electrical biasing for the solid state lighting system producing a second, opposing wavelength shift. Representative embodiments provide for receiving information designating a selected intensity level or a selected temperature and providing a combined first electrical biasing and second electrical biasing to the solid state lighting system to generate emitted light having the selected intensity level and having a second emitted spectrum within a predetermined variance of the first emitted spectrum over a predetermined range of temperatures.

Abstract: Large digital displays for entertainment, architectural and advertising displays have interconnected display panels with pluralities of light emitting elements. To solve calibration problems, each of the display panels stores measured luminance and chromaticity data for each of the light emitting elements of the panel. The luminance data is independent of the chromaticity data. A central controller can then perform calibration procedures so that the light emitting elements are matched across the entire display.

Abstract: Emissive quantum photonic imagers comprised of a spatial array of digitally addressable multicolor pixels. Each pixel is a vertical stack of multiple semiconductor laser diodes, each of which can generate laser light of a different color. Within each multicolor pixel, the light generated from the stack of diodes is emitted perpendicular to the plane of the imager device via a plurality of vertical waveguides that are coupled to the optical confinement regions of each of the multiple laser diodes comprising the imager device. Each of the laser diodes comprising a single pixel is individually addressable, enabling each pixel to simultaneously emit any combination of the colors associated with the laser diodes at any required on/off duty cycle for each color. Each individual multicolor pixel can simultaneously emit the required colors and brightness values by controlling the on/off duty cycles of their respective laser diodes.
