Each of the fixed structures has a reflective surface, and the multimirror stack is configured with respect to the moveable micromirror to provide retroreflection paths. An optical ray incident at a predetermined angle with respect to the substrate is subjected to retroreflection for at least two distinct positions of the moveable micromirror. Each retroreflection includes a reflection off the moveable micromirror and a reflection off one of the fixed structures.

Motor drive means adjustably tighten or loosen a cuff around an upper arm so that measurements on each user are made at substantially the same pressure of the measuring apparatus against a forearm irrespective of the size of the arm. In a preferred form, the preselected measurement pressure is achieved by inflating the cuff to a maximum level, and allowing deflation. Measurement is made when a lower, second preselected level is reached. Blood pressure is also measured in connection with the inflation and deflation operation. Further health parameters may be measured.

    Abstract: A road surface light reflector is provided for use in complementary recesses in roads, to indicate the position of centerlines or sidelines on roads in a nocturnal environment by reflecting the light emitted by the headlights of incoming vehicles. The reflector has a discoid main body which is destined to be embedded into a road hole, so as to form a flat exposed top surface therewith, thus not protruding above the road level. The reflector main body is made of rubber, and its top portion comprises small glass particles embedded therein and covering the reflector exposed top surface, for providing a reflective exposed top surface. An alternate embodiment provides glass particles mixed throughout the whole depth of the rubber main body. The rubber main body is fixedly anchored inside its hole through the instrumentality of glue. The reflector according to the invention thus has a low production cost and can be used on roads that are likely to be snow plowed, since it does not protrude above the road level.

    Abstract: Light reflective buttons according to this invention are made from a plurality of fused strata, the top stratum having an exposed reflective area, preferably of pleochroic or dichroic material in a plane. Manufacture of the buttons involves stacking the top stratum with the reflective area exposed on top of a sub-stratum, and then heating the complex to a temperature sufficient to fuse the stack. During fusion, the stack forms a dome with a flat base. Sub-strata may be added to the stack as needed prior to heating for strength and/or aesthetic purposes. Preferably the strata are all glass, with the top stratum being a cut or otherwise shaped piece of sheet glass commonly known as "dichroic glass." For a reflective area comprised of a plane of pleochroic or dichroic crystalline material, the temperature at which fusion of the strata occurs is too low to melt the crystalline plane, and so it is substantially unaffected by the heating.

A dome-shaped lens is positioned on the base over the light source to form an enclosure for the light source. Multiple flashes are created by a reflector positioned adjacent the rear portion of the lens to reflect the rotating beam as a plurality of discrete flashes within a sector relative to the base. A filter generally having a contour of the front portion of the lens may be mounted thereon. The multiple flashes may be of different colors depending on the range of wavelength of light transmitted by the lens and filter and reflected by the reflector. A person viewing the light sees at least four discrete flashes of light which may be of varying colors.
