Lead Extends Around At Least A Portion Of Capacitor Patents (Class 361/310)
  • Patent number: 4221033
Abstract: A tube of ceramic dielectric material having inner and outer electrodes formed thereon is immersed in an alcohol solution of rosin to form a rosin film over the entire exposed surfaces thereof. A pair of metal caps, each having a plurality of circumferentially spaced inward projections and a thin solder layer covering at least each inward projection, are then pressed onto the opposite ends of the ceramic tube, thereby embedding the inward projections of each metal cap in one of the electrodes. The solder layer on each metal cap projection is then melted to establish firm mechanical and electrical contact between electrodes and metal caps. Semiflexible, hermetic sealing joints are then formed at least between electrodes and metal caps by applying an insulating paint while the ceramic tube and metal caps are being heated to partly evacuate the interior thereof. Finally, an external covering comprising one or more insulating layers is formed at least over the sealing joints and a region therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4197570
Abstract: A pair of metal caps pressed onto the opposite ends of a ceramic dielectric tube have each a plurality of circumferentially spaced inward projections which are embedded in either inner or outer electrodes formed on the ceramic tube. Each inward projection of each metal cap is further soldered to one of the electrodes, preferably by melting a thin solder layer which has plated over the metal cap, thereby establishing or reinforcing the mechanical and electrical contact between electrodes and metal caps. Semiflexible sealing joints consisting essentially of epoxy resin of the bisphenol A type are formed at least between electrodes and metal caps to hermetically seal the capacitor. An external covering comprising one or more layers of plastics material is formed at least over the sealing joints at a region therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4170812
Abstract: An auxiliary capacitor is added to a first capacitor formed from two metallized films wound into a cylindrical roll. Once the two metallized films have been wound a sufficient number of layers to form a capacitor having the desired capacitance, the auxiliary capacitor is added by one of two methods. In the first method, one of the metallized films is cut and a plain film is inserted between the roll and the uncut metallized film. After the plain film has been inserted and wound a portion of a turn, a metal foil is inserted between the plain film and the dielectric side of the uncut metallized film. The two films and foil then are wound together a sufficient number of layers to form the desired capacitance of the auxiliary capacitor. An electrical contact foil may be added between the plain film and the metal foil or the metal foil may be left slightly exposed for electrical contact to be made to it.In the second method both metallized films are first terminated. The core then may be sealed and heat treated.

  • Patent number: 4163202
Abstract: A tuning apparatus and a method of producing the same. The tuning apparatus comprises a base having a recess for receiving a capacitor therein, and coils mounted on the base, wherein the front ends of the comb teeth of two comb-shaped formed parts obtained by press-working an electrically conductive metal sheet are received in the recess and are fixed in position by pouring resin into the recess, the roots of the comb teeth of the comb-shaped formed parts being then severed, thereby separating the comb teeth from each other to provide independent external terminals. The comb teeth include connector comb teeth whose ends are directly connected to the capacitor terminals, and a presser tooth which urges the capacitor toward the connector comb teeth.
