  • Patent number: 8611099
Abstract: An electronic device includes a chassis, a detachable module with a case received in the chassis, a resilient latching member, and an operation member slidably positioned between the latching member and the case. The chassis defines a fastening hole. The case defines a through hole. A first end of the latching member is fixed to the case. A latching tab protrudes outwards from a second end of the latching member. When the operation member is at a first position, the latching tab engages in the fastening hole such that the detachable module is attached to the chassis. When the operation member slides to a second position, it pushes against the latching member to deform the second end of the latching member to move away from the case, such that the latching tab is disengaged from the fastening hole, thereby detaching the detachable module from the chassis.

Abstract: A latching apparatus provides selective injection and ejection of an electronic module relative to a chassis that includes a support member. The apparatus includes a housing to be coupled to the electronic module, and a handle pivotably coupled to the housing and movable between a latched position and an unlatched position. A catch in a first position retains the handle in the latched position. An actuator is coupled to the handle and operable to move the catch to a second position. In response to movement of the actuator in a direction the same as the direction of the handle toward the unlatched position, the catch is moved to its second position. As a result, the handle is movable between the latched and unlatched positions to permit the electronic module to be injected or ejected relative to the chassis.

Abstract: A lever assembly for a retainer which retains a circuit board in an enclosure. The retainer includes a rotatable camshaft. The lever assembly includes a bracket on the enclosure and a rotatable lever at the end of the camshaft. The lever includes a distal arm which engages with the bracket to insert and extract the circuit board into and from the enclosure. A spring element, coupled to either the lever or the end of the camshaft, creates a spring resistance force which biases the lever against the camshaft. In one embodiment, the spring element is a clip on the camshaft which exerts a compressive spring force against the lever. In another embodiment, a spring pin is coupled to the lever and exerts a compressive spring force against the camshaft.

Abstract: A printed circuit board module for a rack mounted chassis. The module includes a latching assembly having: a handle and a catch. When the module is inserted a predetermined distance into a chassis, the catch becomes inserted into an aperture formed on the chassis and when, at such predetermined distance, the handle is slid inwardly into the chassis, the catch engages the handle to retain the handle within the module. On the other hand if, when the module is inserted into the chassis at a distance less than the predetermined distance, the catch is unable to be inserted into an aperture and when the handle is slid inwardly from the chassis, the catch prevents the handle from being retained and such handle, when released, is urged outwardly of the module thereby indicating that the module is improperly inserted within the chassis.
