With Ejector Means Patents (Class 361/754)
  • Patent number: 7510416
Abstract: A PIU plug-in/plug-off mechanism for an electronic apparatus, which is capable of efficiently applying a force required for a plugging-in/off operation of connectors to a printed board by pressing a portion of the printed board close to a backplane. An operating handle of a card lever is turned counterclockwise to thereby bring a push pin into abutment with a rear edge of an open recess. When the card lever is further turned in this state, a pressing force for moving a plug-in unit in the insertion direction acts on an engaging member via an arm. This starts fitting the printed board into a plug-in connector without causing warping of the printed board.

Abstract: The system includes a chassis and a printed circuit board (e.g., a motherboard) that is attached to the chassis. The system further includes an actuator that is slidably engaged with the chassis and a cam plate that is rotatably engaged with the chassis. The actuator engages the cam plate such that maneuvering the actuator rotates the cam plate. The system further includes a blade (e.g., an electronic module) which is slidably engaged with the chassis such that the blade slides in a first direction within the chassis as the blade is inserted into the chassis. The blade is inserted into the chassis until the blade engages the cam plate. Abstract: A latch for a Compact PCI board, which incorporates inject and eject and engage and disengage functions, has a low profile shape, whereof a fold-down handle operates through a total arc of 90 degrees. Enhanced electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is provided, by more efficient EMC shielding and by reduced electromagnetic force (EMF) radiation pass-through. The latch, in its inject/eject operation, undergoes a two-phase motion, which utilizes a rotary motion to insert/extract the board from electrical connection, and utilizes a linear motion to engage/disengage the latch pawl from the chassis (keeper). A separate alignment pin block, normally carrying a lead guide pin and a seating guide pin, is independent of the structure for the base of the latch. Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides an ejector latch that advantageously maximizes the use of face plate space in a circuit pack. An embodiment of the invention also provides an ejector latch, where sufficient force or leverage can now be provided by the user by grabbing a movable handle portion of the ejector latch in order to disengage the ejector latch from a portion or component of a carrier. Therefore, the movable handle portion of the ejector latch advantageously permits the application of more force to the ejector latch, in order to permit easier disengagement of the latch from the carrier.

Abstract: A retaining device (1) for expansion cards (56) each having a slot cover (60) includes a plate (18) having an expansion card seat (24), a pair of locking members (76), a fastener (90) pivotably attached to the expansion card seat. Two locking members respectively are fixed on the expansion card seat. Each locking member includes a resilient arm (80) having a locking body (81). The fastener includes a pressing plate (104) for pressing the slot covers. Two locking arms (112) extend from the pressing plate engaging with corresponding locking bodies. The fastener further includes a handle (118) and two pushing arms (120). When the handle is pressed downwardly, the pushing arms push the resilient arms to cause the locking bodies to disengage from the locking arms, and the pressing plate can thereupon be released from the slot covers of the expansion cards by operation of the handle.

Abstract: The present invention discloses method for packaging and assembly of electronic units comprising a multi-planar board system in which each single planar board provides electrical contacts and/or signal drive to its successive planar board via a flexible cable forming the only connection between successive planar boards. In its packaged position the planar boards are laid upon one another without affixing them with each other or affixing them with the housing of the electronic unit, wherein the packaging of the planar boards preferably forming a daisy chain. Positioning and adjusting of the planar boards to each other is mainly achieved by the cover element being wrapped around all surfaces of the planar boards during the packaging process, positioning and clamping of the packaging of the planar boards within the housing is mainly achieved by the self-adapting suspension during the assembly process of the electronic unit into the housing.

  • Patent number: 6944029
Abstract: An electrical circuit pack ejector system provides a preemptive warning to the circuit pack that allows redirection and disabling of circuit pack functionality prior to ejection and subsequent disconnection of power and input/output signal contacts. The ejector system is based on proximity detection that measures the distance between a Hall-effect sensor and a magnet affixed to an ejector arm. The magnetic field strength increases as the magnet approaches the sensor. Once the sensor threshold is reached, a logical bit from the sensor is flipped and a positive ejector engagement is surmised. As the ejector arm rotates away from the sensor, the magnetic field strength around the sensor is reduced. Once the sensor threshold is reached, a logical bit from the sensor is flipped and a negative ejector engagement is surmised. The circuit pack then redirects and disables functions prior to the power and signal connectors physical disengagement.
