Abstract: In an electro-acoustic transducer 100 which is an oscillator device, center positions of principal surfaces of piezoelectric elements 130 that are positioned on both surfaces of an elastic member 120 are different from each other. As such, since the two piezoelectric elements 130 are disposed asymmetrically on the upper and lower sides in the electro-acoustic transducer 100, it is possible to prevent vibrations of reversed phases at the time of divided vibration in which the reversed phases overlap with each other. In other words, since it is possible to prevent the generation of sound waves due to the vibration of local reversed phases, the sound pressure level can be improved.

Abstract: A method for ascertaining and monitoring fill level of a medium in a container using a travel time measuring method, wherein transmission signals are transmitted toward the medium and reflection signals are received. The received reflection signals are registered as echo signals in an echo function dependent on travel time. Based on known measuring device- and container-specific reflection planes, possible reflection regions in the echo function are calculated by means of an evaluation algorithm. In the calculated reflection regions, the disturbance echo signals and/or the multiecho signals in the echo function are classified, wherein non-classified reflection signals are ascertained and checked as wanted echo signals by means of a search algorithm, wherein, from a position and/or an amplitude of at least one wanted echo signal, fill level is determined, and wherein the measured value of fill level is output.

Abstract: A transmission and reception device is located at a predetermined height on a movable object and directed toward an outside. The transmission and reception device includes a transmission unit for repeatedly transmitting sensing waves at a predetermined interval and a reception unit for receiving reflective waves of the sensing waves from a detected object. A peak value detecting unit detects peak values of the received reflective waves and stores the detected peak values. A difference arithmetic unit calculates a difference in the detected peak values with movement of the movable object closer to the detected object. An object determination unit determines the detected object to be a near-road-surface obstacle, which is close to a road surface, when the difference is a negative value. The object determination unit determines the detected object to be an other obstacle than the near-road-surface obstacle when the difference is a positive value.

Abstract: In an oscillator (100), a plurality of piezoelectric vibrators (111 to 113) supported by vibrator support mechanisms (120) individually output highly directional sound waves. The plurality of piezoelectric vibrators (111 to 113) is formed by dividing a laminated body of an elastic member and a piezoelectric substance by the vibrator support mechanisms (120). Since it is not necessary to arrange the plurality of piezoelectric vibrators in a matrix, the entirety of a device can be small-sized. A sound deflection unit that deflects a sound wave which is output by at least one of the piezoelectric vibrators may be further included.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises a test signal generator (401) which generates an ultrasonic test signal by modulating an audio band test signal on an ultrasonic signal. The ultrasonic test signal is radiated from a parametric loudspeaker (403) and is demodulated by non-linearities in the air. A reflected audio signal may arise from reflections of an object, such as a wall. An audio band sensor (405) generates an audio band captured signal which comprises the demodulated reflected audio band signal. A distance circuit (407) then generates a distance estimate for the distance from the parametric loudspeaker (403) to the object in response to a comparison of the audio band captured signal and the audio band test signal. Specifically two signals may be correlated to determine a delay corresponding to the full path length. Based on the distance estimates an audio environment may be estimated and a sound system may be adapted accordingly.

Abstract: A method for pre-determining an underwater objects GPS position using a rotatable scan sonar unit linked to a boat, magnetic compass and GPS receiver. This system determines the underwater objects GPS position using the objects distance, compass heading and a GPS receiver/sonar on a boat. This system will provide real time longitude and latitude positions of underwater objects seen with sonar at a distance from a boat, and will allow for precise autopilot navigation or fixed position fishing. The system can also be used to correct for GPS errors when using previously stored waypoints positions of an object. The computer determines an objects underwater GPS position using a sonar transducer and mounted on a 360 degree movable mechanism such as a trolling motor unit, or phased array of transducers and a compass to provide heading infromation and formulates the objects position based on the distance and heading of the object in relation to the boats current GPS position.

Abstract: A hand-vision sensing device and a hand-vision sensing glove are provided. The hand-vision sensing device includes a prompting device, a controller, an ultrasonic sensor and a chromaticity sensor, in which the controller is connected to the ultrasonic sensor, the prompting device and the chromaticity sensor respectively, and two groups of ultrasonic sensors exist. The hand-vision sensing glove includes a glove main body and the hand-vision sensing device disposed on the glove main body. Through the hand-vision sensing glove, a position of an object is detected in a short distance, so that the blind person can be fast aware of a peripheral space formed by the object when using the hand-vision sensing glove, thereby assisting the blind person in manual operation and life.

Abstract: In the use of a backhoe digger an indication of the precise depth of the bucket is required. This may be done by measuring the angles and extensions of the elements of the backhoe and calculating the result. This is commonly done by means of angle resolvers and linear encoders. Retro-fitting and calibration of such equipment is very difficult, and according to the invention the same data may be obtained by means of an inclinometer and length measuring devices based on pulsed ultrasound.

  • Patent number: 8344942
Abstract: Range and Doppler ambiguities are common in radar, lidar, and acoustic systems. Resolving these ambiguities is important to achieve desirable geolocation and image quality performance in these systems. A new method is described to iteratively resolve the ambiguities. For Doppler ambiguity applications, a first PRF value and an initial Doppler frequency search window are selected. A new PRF is determined based on the ratio of the initial search window to the first PRF. The radar data of the first pair of PRF's is used to determine two modulo Doppler estimates. The modulo Doppler estimates are used to determine a new Doppler estimate with a confidence interval smaller than the first search window. The ratio of the new Doppler search window to the first PRF, is used to determine the next PRF. This process is iterated until the new Doppler search window is less than the first PRF.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for recognizing a parking area are disclosed. The parking area recognizing apparatus includes: a signal transmitter transmitting a signal using a sensor; an echo signal receiver receiving an echo signal for the signal; a multiple signal generator generating a multiple echo signal using the echo signal based on first and second preset thresholds; and a parking area recognizer recognizing a parking area by calculating a round trip time and a duration time for the multiple echo signal and selecting an available echo signal based on at least one of the round trip time and the duration time. Accordingly, a precision in recognition of a parking area is enhanced by reducing a measurement error by processing an echo signal received after it is reflected on an object with a multiple echo signal in recognition of the parking area using a sensor such as an ultrasonic sensor or a radar sensor.
