Duplex Repeaters Patents (Class 370/279)
  • Patent number: 8195088
Abstract: A pool of identifiers are individually used by corresponding particular ones of a repeaters. A communications protocol as used by the repeaters provides time slots to be used by these repeaters when making their transmissions. Each of the time slots is associated with individual corresponding ones of the identifiers, though the time slots are allocated unequally amongst the identifiers such that at least one of the identifiers has more time slots allocated to that identifier, over a given beacon cycle, than others of the identifiers.

Abstract: A method for retransmitting data in wireless communication system is disclosed. MS can receive a NACK (Not-Acknowledge) signal from a base station (BS) through a specific downlink subframe of a specific frame in a first superframe, and the MS can retransmits the data using a second uplink subframe in a first frame in a second superframe subsequent to a first superframe. In this case, a index of the second uplink subframe may be 1. The wireless communication system can support the Half-Frequency Division Duplex (H-FDD) scheme. A first uplink subframe in the first frame of the second superframe can be punctured.

  • Patent number: 8150309
Abstract: A wireless repeater includes an internal feedback path for adaptively cancelling an echo between an output antenna and an input antenna. The internal feedback path employs an adaptive algorithm implementing a list having a plurality of list elements. Each list element has one or more echo cancellation parameters and one or more repeater settings. The list may be pruned by employing a minimum distance between elements within the list. A method for stabilizing a wireless repeater includes obtaining an autocorrelation of a signal in a signal path of the repeater, detecting an echo in the signal path based on the autocorrelation, providing a list of elements indicating past successful echo cancellation coefficients and associated repeater settings, and adaptively adjusting an error of the echo cancellation coefficients to cancel the echo in the signal path.

Abstract: The present invention provides an enhanced H-ARQ scheme that optimizes bandwidth utilization and spectrum efficiency. When an H-ARQ attempt is unsuccessful due to loss or error over a hop between the BS and MS/SS, then only the first node in the hop chain that fails to decode the packet transmits another H-ARQ attempt. The BS determines the first node that fails on decoding based on certain information such as the feedback information sent from the nodes on the path. The previous node of the failed node is then instructed to retransmit by the BS.

  • Patent number: 8139512
Abstract: A source sends an encoded data block during a first time interval to a destination and to a relay. The source sends additional parity bits for the encoded data block during a second time interval. The relay partially decodes that encoded data block to a process-defined end point (typically only a partial decoding), such as a fixed number of decoding iterations. After partial decoding the relay forms a modified data block having corrected information bits and the parity bits of the block it received, and sends the modified data block to the destination, during the second time interval. The destination decodes to a results-defined end point the modified data block it received from the relay using the additional parity bits it received from the source. If that end-point cannot be reached, the destination may begin anew decoding the original encoded data block it received from the source.

Abstract: In a relay system, a relay node (RN) may communicate with a donor base station (BS) via a backhaul link. For example, the RN may receive control information from the donor BS over the backhaul link. The control information may be transmitted by the donor BS using a specific aggregation level. The RN may decode the control information by monitoring search spaces associated with various aggregation levels. When two or more search spaces are overlapped, decoding candidates of different aggregation levels of the same starting control channel element (CCE) index may result in a successful control information decoding, when actual control information transmission may use only one of the aggregation levels. Such a possibility may result in ambiguous decoding of the control information. Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to handling the ambiguous decoding.

Abstract: A communication method, a relay station, and a communication system are provided. The method includes: communicating with a base station by adopting a first frame resource in a first frame structure; and communicating with a terminal served by the relay station by adopting a second frame resource in a second frame structure different from the first frame structure. Therefore, the base station and the relay station adopt different frame structures, so a problem that a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) process is affected greatly by using the same frame structure is avoided, thereby improving the performance and a utilization rate of resources.

Abstract: A frequency translating repeater (200) for use in a wireless local area network includes a cancellation unit. Canceller (402) is controlled by control (401) to provide an injection signal for canceling leakage in a receive signal path. Reference coupler (403) provides a reference signal from the transmit signal, injection coupler (404) injects a correction signal, and sample coupler (405) provides a sample for feedback. A processor (510) receives the sample signal through a detector (415). Although the present invention is intended for a frequency translating repeater, it has broad applications in radio transceivers in general. One specific application is with frequency division duplex (FDD) handsets or base stations utilizing CDMA technologies such as W-CDMA and IS-2000 or 1XEV-DV/DO.

Abstract: A repeater device may be utilized to enable forwarding extreme high frequency (EHF) communication between EHF-enabled wireless devices. The repeater device may utilize polarization isolation to prevent and/or reduce interference between received and transmitted EHF RF signals in the repeater device. The repeater device may utilize signal gain control to maximize the transmit signal strength while forwarding EHF RF signals to enhance and/or enable polarization isolation between received and transmitted EHF RF signals. Received Signal Strength Indicators (RSSI) may be utilize to measure signal strength of transmit and/or received EHF RF signals to enable performing signal gain control. The repeater device may utilize control connections to enable communicating with the EHF-enabled wireless devices to facilitate performing signal gain control at the repeater device. Non-EHF interfaces, for example Bluetooth, may be utilized to establish the control connections.
