Abstract: A communication apparatus capable of using near field communication from various protocols, a communication method for use therewith, and a program for use therewith are provided. NFC communication apparatuses 1 to 3 capsulize an LLC packet of an LLC layer of a data link layer in an MAC packet of an MAC layer, capsulize the MAC packet in a physical layer packet of a physical layer, and transmit and receive the packet. In that case, the maximum length of the LLC packet is limited so as to be smaller than or equal to a length that is determined on the basis of the maximum length of the physical layer packet and the maximum number of MAC packets that can be transmitted continuously from the MAC layer to the LLC layer without making a response. The present invention can be applied to, for example, an IC card system or the like.

  • Patent number: 7715392
Abstract: For use in a pipeline network search engine of a router, a path compression optimization system and method is disclosed for eliminating single entry trie tables. The system embeds in a parent trie table (1) path compression patterns that comprise common prefix bits of a data packet and (2) skip counts that indicate the length of the path compression patterns. The network search engine utilizes the path compression patterns and the skip counts to eliminate single entry trie tables from a data structure. Each path compression pattern is processed one stride at a time in subsequent pipeline stages of the network search engine. The elimination of unnecessary single entry trie tables reduces memory space, power consumption, and the number of memory accesses that are necessary to traverse the data structure.

Abstract: A multi-homed network node comprises an interface that is addressable using a primary network address and a secondary network address. Network packets identifying the primary network address traverse a first network path and packets identifying the second network address traverse a second network path that is routed physically separately from the first network path. A transport layer network protocol association is established in the network between a first node and the multi-homed node. One or more data messages are sent to the second node and identify the primary network address. Network feedback information indicates one or more performance characteristics of the first network path. Abstract: An IPv4 host is able to maintain connectivity within an access network while moving among access points of the access network, based on receiving a unique assigned IPv4 address from a clusterhead of the access network. Any DHCP request by the IPv4 host is sent via the connecting access point to the clusterhead. The clusterhead, providing connectivity for hosts in the access network to a wide area network based on respective entries, assigns the IPv4 address to the IPv4 host, based on storing an entry including the IPv4 address and an IP-based identifier of the connecting access point, and sends a DHCP response to the IPv4 host via the connecting access point. A second DHCP request from the IPv4 host to a second access point causes the clusterhead to update the entry with the second access point identifier, enabling the IPv4 host to continue use of the assigned IPv4 address.

Abstract: An address allocation method using site-local prefix pools including (MANETs) generating link-local addresses by a plurality of nodes participating in a mobile ad-hoc network, and performing Duplicate Address Detection (DAD) to guarantee the uniqueness of the link-local addresses; electing a leader node of the plural nodes which notifies of a site-local prefix of the network; deciding whether networks adjacent to the network exist; generating a site-local prefix pool including plural site-local prefixes at random by the leader node if the neighboring networks do not exist; selecting one site-local prefix from the site-local prefix pool, and allocating a site-local prefix to the network; and notifying of the site-local prefix allocated by the leader node in order for each of the plural nodes to generate a site-local address.

  • Patent number: 7633974
Abstract: A system and method is provided for reordering the transmission of data packets in a queue of a radio system when an error occurs during the transmission of a data packet to any device destination address. A transmission ordering component is provided that transmits data packets in a queue one at a time until a transmission error occurs for a given destination address. The transmission ordering component then searches through the queue for a data packet with a different destination address than the current destination address being transmitted. The transmission ordering component then returns to transmitting packets one at a time until the end of the queue is reached. Once the end of the queue is reached the transmission ordering component reorders the queue and moves the packets in which transmission errors have occurred to the beginning of the queue. The transmission ordering component then repeats the transmitting data packets one at a time.

  • Patent number: 7619982
Abstract: A technique manages paths taken by probe packets sent from a source to a target of a computer network. The novel path management technique enables each probe packet i) to be transferred onto a path of the computer network via a specific exit at the source, ii) to be returned to the source, and iii) to follow a path that closely matches the path followed by user data through the network. Specifically, one or more alternate routing tables are used by the source to select specific exits for the probe packets. Additionally, the source address of the probe packet is configured as a public address (i.e., reachable and used by actual user data traffic) to ensure that the packet is returned to the originating source and follows a path through the computer network that closely matches the path followed by user data traffic.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to Fibre Channel (FC) switch interoperability and provide a novel and non-obvious data processing system, method and computer program product for obtaining multiple port addresses by a FC switch directly from a SAN fabric. In one embodiment, the system uses an N_Port connection from the last tier FC SAN switch to connect to the rest of the SAN fabric and employs the N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) Fibre Channel feature. The NPIV feature allows one physical FC port (N_Port) to login to a SAN fabric multiple times and receive unique N_Port IDs with each login. This allows the one physical FC port (N_Port) to act as multiple logical N_Ports.

Abstract: A radio link with transmitters and a receiver transmits data packets of a data stream at a regular time interval. To receive the data packets, the data stream is sampled for the presence of data packets in a locked mode. In addition, times for an expected reception of one data packet each are predetermined. In a transmission mode, one data packet each is sampled at regular time intervals, it being determined from a comparison of a test coding with the content of the data packet whether an error-free data packet is present.
