  • Patent number: 7564850
Abstract: A method for Layer 2 packet transmission is disclosed, where a corresponding relationship between packet attribute information and public MAC addresses is configured in an access device such that the access device could find a corresponding public MAC address in the corresponding relationship when receiving a packet from a user terminal, replaces the source MAC address with the public MAC address found, and then sends the packet to a convergence layer device. A method for transmission of a Layer 2 packet without character information is also disclosed. The access device needs to obtain the packet attribute information and carry the information in the packet to be sent to the convergence layer device. An access device is also disclosed. As a result, the capacity of the VLAN and the MAC address table items needed for the convergence layer device to convert MAC addresses is greatly decreased.

  • Patent number: 7535838
Abstract: A method for ascertaining the use of resources on a network having multiple paths across which data can pass. Each alternative path across the network is provided with a different address or port at a server or anchor point, such that, when a data packet is sent to a particular address it will travel across a certain path. As each path is associated with its own individual port or address a server can deduce from the port or address at which a data packet arrives which path it has traversed. The server can then use its knowledge of network topology and bandwidth availability to make policy enforcement decisions. These decisions may include whether to allow the call to proceed if the initial packet received is a call set up packet or, alternatively, a decision as to which path should be used for all transmissions from the terminal during the session.

  • Patent number: 7529198
Abstract: An overlay network and scheme for building and using the overlay network are described. As the overlay network is built, new nodes joining the network are connected randomly with other nodes which results in a random graph as the network topology. The network is fully scalable, with each new node providing the same number of network connections for output to other nodes as it consumes when it joins the network. In addition, network coding is implemented at each node to mix packets of data entering each node using random linear functions. The network coding at each node generates new packets that are independent combinations of original data packets entering the node. The new coded packets make the distribution of data to other nodes more efficient and robust.

  • Patent number: 7505485
Abstract: Methods and systems provide approaches to start code emulation prevention at a granularity higher than the bit level. By operating at a level other than the bit level, processing capability requirements on both the encoder and decoder side can be reduced. In accordance with one or more embodiments, a start code emulation prevention method looks for data patterns relative to fixed-size data portions larger than single bits. When a particular pattern is found, start code emulation prevention data is inserted to prevent start code emulation. The inserted data is larger than a single bit and, in some embodiments, comprises a byte. When a decoder decodes data that has had start code emulation prevention data inserted, it can easily identify legitimate start codes and then can remove the start code emulation prevention data to provide the original data that was protected.

For example, an information handling system capable of communication of four links at an SAS connector communicates in a normal state across two links where the opposing device is a switch that supports only two links at an SAS connector. An LED at the information handling system indicates normal operations with two links in DWord synchronization by receiving the port width of the opposing device, retrieving its own port width, and comparing the port widths with the number of links in DWord synchronization.

  • Patent number: 7430186
Abstract: An apparatus, method and computer readable device for providing spatial information in a sensor network. The sensor network comprises a plurality of sensors and a plurality of actuators, each sensors and actuators have a unique id and a known spatial location within a spatially-bounded zone and a database is provided for storing the location each sensor and actuator. A spatial-processor generates a plurality of context zones based upon the information contained in the location database to provide actuator coverage for the spatially-bounded zone. Each context zone is generated by assigning a subset of the plurality of sensors as a spatial boundary of each context zone and by deploying a subset of the plurality of actuators into one or more context zones. In operation, the spatial-processor determines if an actuator has failed in context zone and redeploys one or more actuators from another intersecting context zone to the context zone containing the non-operational actuator.

  • Patent number: 7411981
Abstract: A solution for matching RADIUS request packets with corresponding RADIUS response packets when the number of simultaneous outstanding requests is greater than 256 involves using a sixteen-octet authenticator field in each packet. For each response packet that arrives, the identifier of the packet is compared in turn with the identifier of each outstanding request packet. If the identifiers match, the authenticators are then compared. If the results of the comparison indicate a match, the packet is accepted and no further processing of the outstanding requests is required. Otherwise, a search of the outstanding request packets is continued. This solution allows for more than 256 simultaneous outstanding RADIUS requests and only encounters a mismatch or ambiguous match with a probability of one in 3.4×1038 packets.

Abstract: A routing method. When implemented in a network system, the routing method ameliorates problems of media stream routing through a network address translation (NAT) device. First, whether a first terminal will correspond to different public address-and-port information for receiving media stream packets from a second terminal opposite to the first terminal after receiving different requests is determined. The first and second terminals comprise a caller and a callee which are capable of communicating in SIP protocol. The public address-and-port information is recorded as source information in media stream packets initiated by the requests. Media stream packets from the first terminal are relayed based on the determination.
