  • Patent number: 10585834
Abstract: A first circuit board includes a master device and slave devices communicating with each other via a local first I2C bus. To allow I2C networks to communicate with each other over long distances, such as up to 1200 meters, a first interface device converts the I2C data signals to encoded differential data over a twisted wire pair. A second interface device on a remote circuit board converts the differential data to data and clock signals on its local second I2C bus coupled to other slave devices on the same board. This is equivalent to the two boards sharing the same I2C bus. The interface devices pull down the serial clock line (SCL) in their local I2C bus while waiting for data, such as an acknowledge bit. The master device generates the clock signal for its local I2C bus, and the remote interface device generates the clock signal for its local I2C bus.

  • Patent number: 7937038
Abstract: The apparatus transmits in a first zone, for example, an aircraft, a masking signal which masks transmissions from a second zone outside of the first. By doing this a mobile cellular telephone is inhibited from connecting or attempting to connect to base-stations on the ground. A hole in the masking signal spectrum may be provided to enable connection to a base-station within the aircraft. Alternatively, a base-station within the aircraft may be arranged to transmit at a power level greater than the masking signal.

  • Patent number: 7885282
Abstract: A control system controls a physical layer quality of user data transmitted between first and second ends of a serial bus. The control system comprises a first line driver that has a control input that controls the physical layer quality at the first end. A physical layer quality sensor senses the physical layer quality at the second end and generates control primitives that are fed back over the serial bus to the control input to provide closed loop control of the physical layer quality.

  • Patent number: 7782908
Abstract: A feed circuit accepts a stream of digital payload data and inserts it at predetermined first positions into a stream of digital transmission data. The feed circuit generates supplementary digital data using the stream of digital payload data and inserts it at predetermined second positions into a stream of digital transmission data. The feed circuit feeds the digital transmission data into a transmission medium. Said circuit determines the supplementary digital data in such a way that at least one frequency's portion of a frequency spectrum of the stream of digital transmission data will be minimized.

  • Patent number: 7764716
Abstract: A system and a method for the transmission and reception of digital data wirelessly using acoustic tones comprises a device having an encoder, a modulator system, a demodulator system, and a decoder. The modulator system uses dual tone multiple frequency (DTMF) tones that are amplitude modulated. The received signal is demodulated and detected by Fourier analysis. An expanded Hamming code based decoder is used for correcting errors occurring during transmission.

  • Patent number: 7733917
Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting/receiving control information using a pilot pattern inserted in a plot field of a dedicated physical channel in a mobile communication system including a transmitter for transmitting data and a receiver for receiving the data. The apparatus and method include selecting control information according to whether the data is received; and selecting a pilot pattern according to the control information, and inserting the selected pilot pattern in a pilot field of a dedicated physical channel as the control information, before transmission. The pilot pattern includes a first pilot pattern used when the control information is not transmitted, a second pilot pattern being orthogonal with the first pilot pattern, and a third pilot pattern generated by inverting a sign of the second pilot pattern.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments may relate to a method and apparatus for performing a correlation with respect to a received signal. A first correlator may correlate for a real part of a first characteristic of the received signal to produce a first real correlated signal. A second correlator may correlate for an imaginary part of the first characteristic of the received signal to produce a first imaginary correlated signal. A third correlator may correlate for a real part of a second characteristic of the received signal to produce a second real correlated signal. A fourth correlator may correlate for an imaginary part of the second characteristic of the received signal to produce a second imaginary correlated signal.

Abstract: An asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switch includes a switch memory having a plurality of discrete queues. A queue is dedicated to a connection in which a traffic stream is transmitted in cells and an inverse multiplex ATM (IMA) format. A switch controller is operable to receive a plurality of cells, to identify cells for the connection, to queue cells for the connection in the queue based on order information received with the cells, to reconstitute from the queue the traffic stream, and to switch the traffic stream and the ATM cells.

  • Patent number: 7623553
Abstract: According to one aspect of the present invention, a method is provided in which indications of signal quality associated with each of the plurality of user stations are received. Multiple user stations (e.g., a first user station and a second user station) are selected to receive data from a base station based on the indications of signal quality associated with the plurality of the user stations. A first packet is constructed which contains signaling data for the first user station and application data for the second user station. A second packet which contains application data for the first user station is super-imposed upon the first packet. The first and second packets are transmitted simultaneously from the base station to the first and second user stations.

Abstract: An interface receives a packet stream associated with a source and a destination. The packet stream includes multiple packets, each packet including a header and a payload. A system generates a modulated stream for inclusion in the packet stream and performs a low deviation modification to a header field in each of the multiple packets to include the modulated stream in the packet stream. The system then transmits the packet stream including the modulated stream.

  • Patent number: 7599348
Abstract: An enhanced 8-VSB reception system and E8-VSB data demultiplexing method, by which an E8-VSB signal can be stably received as well as a previous ATSC 8VSB signal, is disclosed. Herein, the enhanced data are coded at ½ code rate and ¼ code rate in the new E8-VSB transmission system compatible with the conventional ATSC 8VSB system, respectively. The ½ and ¼ enhanced data are multiplexed by 164-byte packet unit according to the previously determined multiplexing format and further pre-processed to output as the format of the MPEG transport packet. And, the pre-processed enhanced data and the main data are multiplexed again by 188-byte packet unit according to the previously determined multiplexing format. The E8-VSB map information, which was inserted in the field sync section in the E8-VSB transmission system to be transmitted, is extracted to generate the information indicating the attributes of the respective E8-VSB data.
