  • Patent number: 10396849
Abstract: The non-coherent ultra-wideband receiver receives an ultra-wideband (UWB) signal, consisting of pulses (or “symbols”) and uses on-off keying (OOK) modulation so that when a binary “0” is transmitted, the receiver collects noise-only samples. The receiver collects samples during the symbol (pulse) duration and sorts the samples by magnitude of voltage or energy. The receiver uses the known transmission rate and the estimated signal-to-noise ratio to retrieve a sample index from a look-up table. The receiver then compares the signal sample at the index value with a predetermined threshold voltage (or energy). If the selected sample exceeds the threshold, then it is assumed that all succeeding samples also exceed the threshold (assuming the sort is in ascending magnitude) and the pulse is present and binary “1”. Otherwise, the pulse is absent in the sampling period, and binary “0”. The process is repeated for the signal duration.

  • Patent number: 10386426
Abstract: A detection of a failure of a phase (as a method and apparatus) in a system—supplied by multiple phases—including a DC link (5) is suggested. A rectified voltage (10) of the DC link (5) pulses at a multiple of the mains frequency as a fundamental wave. The rectified voltage (10) is filtered for detecting a signal component at the double frequency of the mains frequency (12). The rectified voltage (10) is also “filtered” for detecting an average link voltage (14). A ratio signal (17) is formed as a ratio of the average link voltage (14) to the signal component at the double frequency of the mains frequency (12). An error detection signal (19) results from a comparison of the ratio signal (17) with an error threshold (20).

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for processing multichannel signals in a multichannel receiver are described. In one implementation, a plurality of demodulators may provide a plurality of outputs to a processor, with the processor then simultaneously estimating noise characteristics based on the plurality of outputs and generating a common noise estimate based on the plurality of outputs. This common noise estimate may then be provided back to the demodulators and used to adjust the demodulation of signals in the plurality of demodulators to improve phase noise performance.

Abstract: Presented is a generator of binary code shift key (CSK) codes pre-saved to memory usable for time synchronous CSK code retrievals with extraction capability for 1 of 16 orthogonal CSK symbol codes under control of a supported communications system. The CSK code generator pre-defines a 1332 root prime number sequence containing 6 unique prime numbers including 221-7s, 222-11s, 221-13s, 223-17s, 222-19s, and 223-23s that receive multiple index shuffles of 1332 indexes. Pairs of 1332 shuffled indexes of prime sequences are then merged and formatted into 100 tier0 100 hex character format codes. Two levels of XORs of hex character format code pairs generate CSK codes that are collected into 10000 code files that are saved to memory. Time-synchronous CSK code retrieval is followed by 1 of 16 CSK orthogonal symbol codes extraction based on new half-byte data values under flow control of the supported communications system.
