  • Patent number: 11838564
Abstract: Reception-side processing performed in a case where transmission of standard dynamic range video data and transmission of high dynamic range video data coexist in a time sequence is simplified. SDR transmission video data is converted into SDR transmission video data through dynamic range conversion. The SDR transmission video data is the one obtained by performing, on SDR video data, photoelectric conversion in accordance with an SDR photoelectric conversion characteristic. In this case, the conversion is performed on the basis of conversion information for converting a value of conversion data in accordance with the SDR photoelectric conversion characteristic into a value of conversion data in accordance with an HDR photoelectric conversion characteristic. A video stream is obtained by performing encoding processing on HDR transmission video data. A container having a predetermined format and including this video stream is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 11758164
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for video encoding/decoding. In some examples, an apparatus for video decoding includes receiving circuitry and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry decodes prediction information of a current block within a current picture from a coded video bitstream. The prediction information is indicative of usage information of an inter prediction mode that is not compatible with using the current picture as a reference picture for the current block. Then, the processing circuitry determines whether the coded video bitstream is valid based on a conformance check of the usage information to the reference picture for the current block.

  • Patent number: 11589061
Abstract: An excellent display can be performed even when the frame rate changes dynamically at the reception side. When a switching portion at which a sequence of video streams to be transmitted is switched from a first sequence to a second sequence having a different frame rate from the first sequence is provided, display control information is inserted into at least encoded image data of a picture corresponding to the switching portion or a packet containing the encoded image data. A reception side performs display control of pictures using the display control information and implements an excellent display.

  • Patent number: 11451788
Abstract: A video encoding system in which pixel data is decomposed into frequency bands prior to encoding. The frequency bands for a slice of a frame may be buffered so that complexity statistics may be calculated across the frequency bands prior to encoding. The statistics may then be used by a rate control component in determining quantization parameters for the frequency bands for modulating the rate in the encoder for the current slice. The quantization parameters for the frequency bands may be calculated jointly to optimize the quality of the displayed frames after decoder reconstruction and wavelet synthesis on a receiving device. Information about one or more previously processed frames may be used in combination with the statistics for a current slice in determining the quantization parameters for the current slice.

  • Patent number: 10477206
Abstract: A deblocking filter 24 performs filtering of decoded image data obtained by decoding image data encoded for each block, so as to remove block distortion. If at least one of block sizes on adjacent sides of two adjacent blocks is extended larger than a predetermined block size, a filter setting unit 41 sets the tap length to an extended length to increase the strength of distortion removal, or sets a filtering object pixel range to an extended range. When a macroblock having an extended size is used, the degree of smoothing is increased, and pixels including those distant from the block boundary are subjected to filtering. Consequently, even when various block sizes are employed or when blocks of extended sizes are used, images of high image quality can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 8134558
Abstract: Systems and methods for editing of a computer-generated animation across a plurality of keyframe pairs are provided. Embodiments enable time editing across a plurality of non-roving keyframe pairs. Such non-roving keyframes have fixed references relative to an animation's reference timeline. An author may specify a point on an animation's reference timeline at which each non-roving keyframe is placed. In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, an animation across a plurality of non-roving keyframes is treated as an editable unit. Thus, an author may modify the timing for all or a select portion of such editable unit (which may span a plurality of the non-roving keyframes). For instance, an author may expand or reduce the time span for a plurality of non-roving keyframes, and the timing of the plurality of non-roving keyframes automatically adjusts to maintain their timing proportionality relative to each other in the resulting modified time span.

  • Patent number: RE40664
Abstract: A method of encoding a local time base embedded in the compressed data is disclosed. The local time base is encoded in two parts. The first part has a modulo time base that indicates the specific interval in the reference time base and the second part has a time base increment relative to the reference time. Two forms of time base increment is used to allow for the possibility of different encoding order and displaying order. A mechanism for the synchronization of multiple compressed streams with local time base is also described. A time base offset mechanism is also used to allow finer granularity synchronization of the multiple compressed streams.
