Coding Or Prediction Mode Selection (epo) Patents (Class 375/E7.146)
  • Patent number: 11800154
Abstract: An image processing device for use in an image encoder and/or an image decoder, for deblocking a block edge between a first block and a second block of an image encoded with a block code, is provided. The image processing device comprises a filter for filtering the block edge, configured to, for at least some of the pixels to be filtered, within a deblocking range from the block edge, the deblocking range being perpendicular to the block edge, determine a filtered pixel value from an original pixel value of the pixel and at least one further pixel value, determine a clipping value of the pixel, dependent upon a distance of the pixel from the block edge, and clip the filtered pixel value, using the clipping value resulting in a deblocked pixel value.

  • Patent number: 11627278
Abstract: A video format detector receives a video signal in a one of a plurality of possible video formats and produces a detected format. A cumulative distribution function generator generates a cumulative distribution function curve from a component of the video signal and a feature detector generates one or more feature vectors from the cumulative distribution function curve. A video classifier accepts the one or more feature vectors from the feature detector and generates a prediction of the video format in which the video signal was produced based, at least in part, on the received feature vectors.

  • Patent number: 11553175
Abstract: Video signal coding and decoding functions can generate lists of potential candidates to use in coding and decoding, for example, predictors. Video signal coding component candidate undergo operations before potential inclusion in candidate lists. The candidates are checked after being modified by the operations to see if other equal candidates are already in the candidate list. If equal candidates are not in the list, the modified candidates are added to the candidate list. If equal candidates are already in the list, the modified candidates are not added to the list. Operations that can be performed comprise rounding and clipping.

  • Patent number: 8804825
Abstract: A method for encoding pictures within a groups of pictures using prediction, where a first reference picture from a group of pictures and a second reference pictures from the subsequent group of pictures are used in predicting pictures in the group of pictures associated with the first reference picture. A plurality of anchor pictures in the group of pictures associated with the first reference picture may be predicted using both the first and second reference pictures to ensure a smooth transition between different groups of pictures within a video frame.

  • Patent number: 8134558
Abstract: Systems and methods for editing of a computer-generated animation across a plurality of keyframe pairs are provided. Embodiments enable time editing across a plurality of non-roving keyframe pairs. Such non-roving keyframes have fixed references relative to an animation's reference timeline. An author may specify a point on an animation's reference timeline at which each non-roving keyframe is placed. In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, an animation across a plurality of non-roving keyframes is treated as an editable unit. Thus, an author may modify the timing for all or a select portion of such editable unit (which may span a plurality of the non-roving keyframes). For instance, an author may expand or reduce the time span for a plurality of non-roving keyframes, and the timing of the plurality of non-roving keyframes automatically adjusts to maintain their timing proportionality relative to each other in the resulting modified time span.
