Publication number: 20090052636Abstract: A system and method for efficiently transcribing verbal messages transmitted over the Internet (or other network) into text. The verbal messages are initially checked to ensure that they are in a valid format and include a return network address, and if so, are processed either as whole verbal messages or split into segments. These whole verbal messages and segments are processed by an automated speech recognition (ASR) program, which produces automatically recognized text. The automatically recognized text messages or segments are assigned to selected workbenches for manual editing and transcription, producing edited text. The segments of edited text are reassembled to produce whole edited text messages, undergo post processing to correct minor errors and output as an email, an SMS message, a file, or an input to a program. The automatically recognized text and manual edits thereof are returned as feedback to the ASR program to improve its accuracy.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 29, 2008Publication date: February 26, 2009Applicant: GotVoice, Inc.Inventors: Mike O. Patent number: 7346151Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for validating agreement between textual and spoken representations of words. A voice input verification process monitors a conversation between an agent and a caller to validate the textual entry of the caller's spoken responses or the agent's spoken delivery of a textual script (or both). The audio stream corresponding to the conversation between the agent and the caller is recorded and the textual information that is entered into the workstation by the agent is evaluated. Speech recognition technology is applied to the recent audio stream, to determine if the words that have been entered by the agent can be found in the recent audio stream. The grammar employed by the speech recognizer can be based, for example, on properties of the spoken words or the type of field being populated by the agent. If there is a discrepancy between what was entered by the agent and what was recently spoken by the caller, the agent can be alerted and the error can optionally be corrected.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2003Date of Patent: March 18, 2008Assignee: Avaya Technology Corp.Inventors: George W. Publication number: 20080059587Abstract: A method and system for providing message threads with messages of multiple modes of communication in a uniform manner is provided. A messaging system provides a unified communications user interface for message threads that include messages sent using different modes of communications. When a user wants to reply to a message of one mode with a message of another mode, the messaging system displays the communication client application context of the other mode so that the user can prepare and send the message using the appropriate functions. When the instant message is sent, the messaging system adds the instant message to the message thread so that it can be displayed as part of the message thread.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2006Publication date: March 6, 2008Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Edwin R. Patent number: 7327832Abstract: A system and methods to allow messaging systems to efficiently perform multi-media processing functions are provided. An exemplary messaging system comprises a host computer interconnected to a network interface unit (NIU), that is, itself, interconnected to external telephone networks. An embedded services platform (ESP) within the NIU provides a general-purpose computing capability within the ESP and provides a network interface for connecting the ESP to an external network. A media resource server (MRS) connected to the external network is used to offload multi-media processing function from the host computer to the MRS via the ESP.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2000Date of Patent: February 5, 2008Assignee: Unisys CorporationInventors: Gary P. Patent number: 7321655Abstract: An integrated messaging system for performing various types of messaging across different types of networks, including integrated user interfaces and administrator interfaces. Embodiments include a communication server that couples among networks of different types, and an interface module that couples to the communication server. The interface module may be hosted on a messaging server of a network. The interface module pulls various user information from the messaging server, including information relevant to at least the network that includes the messaging server. A cache couples to the communication server and to the interface module to hold information from the communication server and/or the user information pulled from messaging server. The interface module directs a message from the messaging server and/or the cache to at least one device on the networks using the user information.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2005Date of Patent: January 22, 2008Assignee: Adomo, Inc.Inventors: Jens Skakkebaek, Willem R.
