  • Patent number: 7493049
Abstract: An invention is disclosed whereby an analog audio signal are transmitted over distances through a flexible medium using electro-optical radiation as the carrier of the audio signal. The analog audio signal is never converted into a digital mode nor is the signal ever filtered. The resultant analog sound that is delivered to the opposite end of the flexible medium is 100% modulated with a de minimus amount of signal loss due to noise. Though the best mode of this invention is it's application to guitar cords, any form of audio analog input will function within this invention, whereby a bundle of fiber optic cables that are capable of a high amount reflectivity, with or without the presence of an element that increases or facilitates luminescence, will become saturated with light which varies in intensity with the amplitude of the sound. This invention concedes that safety is a predominant factor when associating electrical energy with those products that people can be in contact therewith.

Abstract: A loudspeaker unit comprising a frame (1), an acoustic panel (3), an electric exciter (5) for exciting the acoustic panel, and a tuning element (7). The panel suspends from the frame and has two substantially parallel main sides. The exciter is disposed at a first main side (13a) and comprises a stationary part and a translatable part, the translatable part being secured to the acoustic panel, the panel producing acoustic radiation upon energization of the exciter. The tuning element is disposed at a second main side (14a) and extends opposite the electric exciter and is connected to the frame. In order to facilitate the manufacture of the unit, the tuning element is provided with a mounting element (7a) extending through a passage in the acoustic panel, the stationary part of the electric exciter being mounted on the mounting element.

Abstract: A transducer of electrical oscillations to mechanical oscillations or mechanical oscillations to electrical oscillations, mainly a loudspeaker or a microphone, having in general an elongated oscillating member attached by joints to a surrounding structure in areas of points or lines of specific dynamic balance, like one end, center of mass, center of equal rotational inertia, center of percussion about a certain axis of rotation. At least one actuator is mounted in the area of these balancing points or lines. In an alternative to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the oscillating member is built to incorporate at least one cavity filled with air or a fluid different from air or having a certain degree of vacuum in it. In an alternative to the preferred embodiment of the invention the transducer is placed in a position to favor the retention of a heat exchanging fluid, other than magnetic fluid, inside the actuator.

Abstract: A damper includes an outer peripheral frame (first annular part), an inner peripheral frame (second annular part) arranged on an inner side of the outer peripheral frame, and first and second arms. The first and second arms have the elasticity, and are arranged between the outer peripheral frame and the inner peripheral frame to integrate the outer peripheral frame and the inner peripheral frame. The first and second arms have plural arm parts. The plural arm parts forming the first arm frame and the plural arm parts forming the second arm are arranged with distances in a generating line direction of the outer peripheral frame and the inner peripheral frame. The first arm is positioned on a first plane surface different from a second plane surface on which the second arm is positioned.

  • Publication number: 20070140514
Abstract: An acoustic transducer is disclosed, which comprises a micro fabricated, sound generating, or receiving, diaphragm, a conductive leaf cantilever actuator, and a counter electrode. In the acoustic transducer, the electrostatic attraction force between the counter electrode and the leaf cantilever due to an imposed electrical potential is utilized to generate a deflection of the diaphragm attached to said cantilever. In operation, the cantilever collapses on to the counter electrode, causing a significant increase in actuator driving force due to the reduction, and partial elimination, of the air gap in the transducer.

Abstract: A piezo-electric speaker ensures a uniform sound in a broad band and can easily reproduce a signal of large amplitude or sound. A piezo-electric speaker has a piezo-electric member to generate a vibration according to an electric signal applied thereto. A piezo-electric vibration plate converts the vibration to a sound. The piezo-electric vibration plate is positioned closely to the piezo-electric member. The piezo-electric vibration plate is divided into parts of any configuration and is connected to the piezo-electric member.

  • Patent number: 7116790
Abstract: Conventional analog loudspeakers have a limited dynamic range as compared to the available dynamic range of digital recordings. Digital recordings use up to 24 bits and this implies a dynamic range of 141 dB. Digital loudspeakers, involving 2N single bit devices (with N=24, this number is 1.7×107) have been proposed. The present improvement is the provision of at least one loudspeaker, a plurality of analog drivers and the audio input supplied to a control processor which in turn drives one or more of the plurality of independent analog drivers. The number of drivers in operation at any one time is determined by the amplitude of the input audio signal to the control processor.
