Flange Small Clearance Patents (Class 384/488)
  • Patent number: 4676671
Abstract: A rolling bearing has an outer ring and an inner ring and rolling elements positioned between the inner and outer rings. A seal at each end of the bearing includes a sheet metal portion extending radially from and affixed to the inner ring, and an elastic seal portion sliding on the bore of the outer ring. A plurality of axially inwardly extending projections on the sheet metal portion have different lengths, with their lengths increasing with increasing diameters thereof.

  • Patent number: 4655617
Abstract: A sealed type rolling bearing includes an another race, an inner race, a plurality of rolling elements, at least one retainer therefor, and at least one seal plate. The bearing is sealed with grease seal, and grease in the bearing is prevented from flowing at a high rate by means of an annular projection extending radially inwardly from the retainer defining a small gap defined between the projection of the retainer and the inner race.

  • Patent number: 4643594
Abstract: A sealed rolling bearing in which the seal consists of a sealing lip and a sealing projection connected to a sealing body. When the sealing body is seated in a groove formed in the outer ring, the sealing lip abuts a side surface of a groove formed in the inner ring with prestress. The sealing lip and sealing projection abut under the influence of the prestress to form a conical, outwardly directed centrifugal surface for ejecting moisture and dirt through a gap seal formed between the sealing projection and a shoulder of the bearing inner ring.

  • Patent number: 4602875
Abstract: A combined bearing, pulley and shield assembly that is temporarily unitized prior to being installed on a cylindrical shaft support. A bearing having inner and outer races with an annular space between the races is molded into the hub off the pulley with a pair of shields joined to the pulley in covering relation to the annular space. The shields are joined to the pulley by frangible tabs molded integrally with the pulley. When the pulley assembly is installed, the shields are precisely positioned and fixed to the inner race. Therefore, the tabs fracture in response to initial relative rotation of the pulley and inner race to allow free subsequent relative rotation.

  • Patent number: 4581799
Abstract: The specification discloses a self-contained ball bearing for use in drawer rails. The bearing includes balls axially retained between a flared end of an inner race member and a washer retained on a stem of the inner race member. The bearing further includes a polymeric outer race member having a thrust shoulder extending radially inwardly closely proximate the flared end of the inner race member to form a dirt shield therewith and to provide an improved thrust bearing surface.

  • Patent number: 4577980
Abstract: An anti-friction bearing unit for a machine processing synthetic resin, and more specially one for the processing of scrap resin material at high pressures and temperatures, has rolling bodies placed between inner and outer running faces. The space between the running faces at an end of the bearing is, at operating temperatures, shut off apart from a small gap.

  • Patent number: 4557612
Abstract: A ball bearing fitted with seals mounted on the outer bearing ring and co-operating with sealing surfaces on the inner bearing ring to prevent or restrict entry of fluid into the bearing. The axially outer face of each seal is formed with protrusions spaced at equal intervals around the seal and positioned adjacent its sealing surface, each protrusion having deflecting surfaces arranged to throw or deflect any debris on the sealing surface outwards away from the bearing upon relative rotation between the two members. Each seal comprises an annular disc-like body of resilient material and an annular reinforcing skirt of rigid material, the inner periphery of the body having an annular lip which projects into an annular groove in its sealing surface.
