  • Patent number: 8903220
Abstract: A video data outputting apparatus, connected to a display apparatus receiving a broadcast signal and transmits video data recorded in an internal recording unit and/or an inserted recording medium, and video data generated based on the received broadcast signal to the display apparatus play-backs the stored video data, acquires input selection information indicating the input source of the currently displayed video data, and performs control to display information about the broadcast channel corresponding to currently output video data and the video of the broadcast channel on an image area when the video data generated based on the broadcast signal is being output to the display apparatus after the playback is stopped and the display apparatus receives the video data transmitted from the video data outputting apparatus. Then, the video data outputting apparatus is caused to transition to a state where the power consumption of the own apparatus is reduced.

Abstract: A terminal device determines whether a clock is a secure clock or a self-running clock. If the clock is the self-running clock, the device stores a clocking time of the clock as a timestamp file in a memory card in recording content. In playing back the content, the device determines validity of a clocking time using the timestamp file to play back the content and also updates the stored time of the stored time as the timestamp file to a content playback start time. In contrast, if the clock is the secure clock, the device stores the timestamp file indicating a recording time of the content in the memory card only in recording the content and omits updating the stored time as the timestamp file in playing back the content.

  • Patent number: 8891939
Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to support video-aware screen capture and compression. More specifically, the video-aware approach first detects whether or when video content is being actively played back on a screen of a hosting device. If the video content is actively being rendered, the approach separates (segments) the screen content into static (non-video) content and video content, The approach then applies video-specific capture and compression methods to the video content of the screen and other suitable compression methods to the non-video content of the screen. The compressed static and video content of the screen are separately and independently transmitted across the network to remote computing devices and are then decompressed and processed to reconstruct screen of its original content for display at the screens of the remote computing devices.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for streaming digital media content with transition effects. Audio data may be modulated and received by the streaming device for an audio fade-in effect. Similarly, video data may be modulated to perform various visual effects. Such a technique allows for fading-in of audio and/or video, fading-out of audio and/or video, and effects that blend audio from different content and video from different content during a transition from one digital media content to a different digital media content or within the same digital media content. The modulated audio and video data to generate the audio or video effect during a transition may be precomputed or computed in real-time and transmitted to the streaming device. The streaming device switches between original unmodulated content streams and effect content streams when transitions are detected.

The extents on the stereoscopic specific area are next in order after the extents on the stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area. The monoscopic specific area is a contiguous area to be accessed immediately before a long jump occurring in monoscopic video playback. The monoscopic specific area has a copy of the entirety of the extents of the base-view stream file recorded on the stereoscopic specific area.

Abstract: To provide means for editing a content data stream quickly. A data processor according to the present invention can edit a content that has been written on a medium. The content is stored in a file as a data stream including multiple packets of the same packet size. And a file system for accessing data on a cluster size basis has been established on the medium. The data processor includes: a receiving section, which receives an instruction on a partial deletion range including the beginning of the file; and a media control section for deleting data, the size of which is an integral number of times as large as the least common multiple of the cluster size and the packet size, from the beginning of the file within the partial deletion range.

An allowable jump range between an image data clip and an audio data clip required for data reading in the browsable slide show in which a consecutive reproduction processing of a still image and an audio reproduction processing are performed in parallel is determined so as to determine arrangement conditions of data to be stored in an information recording medium on the basis of the determined allowable jump range. This configuration enables the browsable slide show to be carried out as a seamless reproduction processing without any data discontinuity. Furthermore, it becomes possible to provide a plurality of combinations of readout rates of the audio data and image data.
