  • Publication number: 20040181861
Abstract: An odor trap has a basin-shaped housing and a collecting basin, which forms an inlet. Inserted into the housing is a siphon which prevents the passage of gas from an outlet to the inlet. A deodorizing insert is located on a screen below the inlet in an essentially dry area. Air ascending out of the siphon flows over the deodorizing insert and is thereby deodorized. The deodorizing insert is located under a cover and can be replaced along with the siphon.

Abstract: Improvements in retention of the oily liquid sealant (20) in a oil-sealed odor trap (10B-10M), for drain applications such as a waterless urinal or anti-evaporation floor drain, are accomplished by minimizing turbulence in the oil sealant, such as by making the liquid flow path (22A, 22B) substantially horizontal as a departure from conventional practice of substantially vertical flow and by positioning a barrier (40) above the oil sealant to prevent direct impingement of urine or other waste products onto the sealant. The trap is thus structured to realize the substantially horizontal liquid flow path and to locate the flow path immediately beneath the sealant layer or beneath a baffle portion (16B). The baffle portion may be sloped such that stray sealant droplets are encouraged to migrate upwardly to the upper surface of the flow path due to their buoyancy and, therefore, the stray droplets will be recaptured and returned to the main sealant layer.

  • Patent number: 6434757
Abstract: The present invention features a device to facilitate female urination from a standing position. A collapsible structure is readily expanded by pressing on two opposing edges. Once expanded, the device is held in its open state by a unique locking mechanism. Because a user does not need to exert continuous pressure on the device to keep it in an open, operable state, it is easier to use than other similar devices. The device may be cleaned, collapsed and stored for re-use or may be supplied as a single use, disposable unit.

Abstract: A portable, disposable collector for human bodily wastes is formed as a pouch of plastic film material with an open top. An absorbant layer is disposed inside the pouch. Opposite sides of the pouch have tear lines that extend from the opening toward the bottom of the pouch to convert the collector from male to female use and to collect feces. An adhesive patch on the outside of the pouch is used to seal a used, folded collector.

Abstract: A collapsible container for receiving waste body fluids comprising a flexible pouch, a rigid collar, and a collapsible reservoir integral with the rigid collar. The flexible pouch has a funnel-shaped mouth area for conforming to the face of the user. A stopper is sized to seal the funnel-shaped mouth area. The rigid collar comprises a first end adjacent the mouth area and a second end adjacent the collapsible reservoir. The second end forms a circumferential flange to flare the reservoir. The collapsible reservoir includes a top and a bottom, the top adjacent the circumferential flange of the collar. The bottom has an annular rim that can engage with the stopper so that the stopper forms a base for the container. A cage is within the flexible pouch, the cage comprising a neck area that is aligned within the rigid collar. A floater or stop cock within the cage rises as body fluid fills the cage to seal the neck area.

Abstract: A portable urinal device is provided with an elongated body having a first section and a second section, the first section being releasable connected to the second section. The first section includes an open end coupled to the second section and a closed end having a top surface. A retractable flexible tube having a first end secured within the first section and a second end that is retractable away from the top surface is preferably disposed about a spindle located within the first section. The second end of the flexible tube is preferably disposed outside the first section. A device for creating suction at the first end of the retractable tube so as to draw fluid from the second end of the flexible tube to the first end of the flexible tube is coupled to the first end of the flexible tube. A motor is operatively engaged with the spindle to rotate the spindle and retract the flexible tube into the first section.

  • Patent number: 6401263
Abstract: A portable urinal apparatus includes a supporter attached to the top of a catch basin and a discharge tube attached to the bottom of the catch basin, in which the catch basin is constructed so as to catch urinary fluids and direct those fluids down through the discharge tube into the toilet bowl of a conventional sit down toilet. An interior chamber is defined by the walls of the catch basin. The sides of the catch basin are sloped to direct fluids towards the middle and bottom of the interior chamber of the catch basin, rather than outside the basin. The bottom of the catch basin is sloped to direct fluids towards the discharge tube. When in use, the bottom end of the discharge tube is positioned over the middle area of the toilet bowl.
