Abstract: A portable, collapsible toilet made of a blank of foldable material and having a row of four side-by-side panels (10), (14), (16), (18) connected by three fold lines (48), (50), (52) to define front, rear and opposed side panels. A top panel 12 is secured to the rear panel (18) by a fold line (28) and includes an opening (20) that may be closed by an integral lid (22). When assembled in a rectangular configuration, a plastic bag (96) may be nested between the panels (10), (14), (16), (18) and the top panel (12) closed thereon.

Abstract: A bedside cabinet having a generally U-shaped forward access area within which a portable commode may be stored. The cabinet includes an upper drawer cabinet section an a pivoting top panel under which is stored an adjustable shelf. The top panel is pivoted to a vertical position, the adjustable shelf is elevated and locked in a desired position and the top panel is then lowered to its normal horizontal position. The portable commode is designed to ft within the cabinet for storage; and in addition, a walker is designed to fit around and be stored on the cabinet.

Abstract: An automatic talking potty apparatus includes a receptacle support assembly and a receptacle supported by the receptacle support assembly. A seating surface is positioned over the receptacle. A seated-child sensor assembly senses when a child has been seated on the seating surface. A control assembly is electrically connected to the seated-child sensor assembly. A gender-selection switch is electrically connected to the control assembly. A female-gender message device and a male-gender message device are selectively responsive to the gender-selection switch. The receptacle support assembly includes a set of legs and a receptacle-support ledge supported by the legs. The seating surface is a portion of a seat unit which includes an access slot and a retention groove for receiving a portion of the receptacle. The receptacle includes an upper flange portion which is passed through the access slot and is received by the retention groove in the seat unit.

Abstract: A manually user-propelled wheelchair construction having a frame, a seat having a narrow front portion and a wider rear portion, a central axis on the seat, wheels on the frame proximate the front portion of the seat, with the wheels being oriented so that vertical planes passing through the wheels and parallel to the central axis of the seat also pass through the rear wider portion of the seat. The frame can be disassembled into a plurality of frame portions, a seat, and wheels.

Abstract: A device for assisting in the toilet training. The device includes a bowl for receiving human waste as well as an electrical assembly. The electrical assembly includes two pins extending through the bowl, an elastomeric buffer, two contacts interconnected to a resistance sensor, and a melody generator. The buffer provides a solderless electrical connection between the corresponding pins and contacts. When the electrical resistance between the pins decreases, the resistance sensor detects the decrease in resistance between the two pins and contacts and delivers an activation signal to the melody generator.

Abstract: A portable chair commode for either male or female medical patients with limited mobility is disclosed which comprises a frame structure designed to support an open slot toilet seat. The underside surface of the toilet seat is provided with means for removably attaching a receptacle for collection of bowel and bladder discharge. The frame structure includes a pair of substantially vertical extensions connected to the rear legs for supporting a backrest and a pair of cantilevered armrests. A preferred embodiment has the cantilevered armrests pivotally mounted so that the armrests can be moved from a horizontal rest position to a substantially vertical position to improve ease of access to the open slot toilet seat. The preferred embodiment also includes means for adjusting the height of each leg and an adjustably mounted footrest associated with the front legs of the chair commode.

Abstract: A tank for liquidous material is disclosed having a single aperture for accessing an interior volume. A collar formed as a truncated cone circumscribes the aperture to provide sealing with a cap having a mating conical band. A band surface and a collar surface form the only contact between the cap and the collar. A drain fitting may be secured to the collar upon removal of the cap, after which the tank is upended for draining through the drain fitting. A wash fitting attached to the drain fitting sprays the interior of the tank for cleaning. No recesses (grooves) or `O` ring seals, and no protruding, resilient, normal, face seals are used which might trap debris and inhibit complete cleaning. The tapered collar and band create contact forces for sealing that are much greater than the load securing the cap to the collar. The tank, collar and cap may be rotomolded of a single material in a single mold, the cap being severed and trimmed after molding.

Abstract: A portable toilet including a container of a generally pear-shaped cross-section having a rear component and a front component, the container further having a planar bottom wall with a concave back edge, a concave front edge, and a pair of curved intermediate side edges therebetween and with the back edge having a radius of curvature greater than that of the front edge, the container additionally having a peripheral side wall including a lower extent and an upper extent with the lower extent integral with and projected upwardly from the periphery of the bottom wall to define a central opening having a rear portion and a front portion and with the upper extent flared outwards and then downwards to define a seat having a concave back part, a concave front part, and a pair of curved intermediate parts therebetween; and a cover mechanism removably securable over the central opening.

Abstract: This invention relates to a portable toilet structure including an open ended container which may take the form of a large hollow interior plastic bucket or like structure and a seat structure having an undersurface specifically adapted to be removably attached and to lockingly engage the peripheral edge surrounding the open end. Additional embodiments include a movably mounted toilet paper dispenser, a cleansing assembly in the form of a portable bidet type washing facility and a carrying case which is specifically dimensioned and configured to have the cleansing structure stored therein and the toilet paper dispenser as well as the seat structure to facilitate transporting these components of the subject toilet seat assembly.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a potty seat configured with a hinged platform ring upon which a toilet training child is to sit, a collecting basin able to fit within a substantially hollow base of said potty seat, a pair of laterally disposed arms and a simulative tank connecting between the arms toward the rear. A first pair of lights is recessed within the arms of the potty seat. A second light or pair of lights is recessed within the tank portion. A pair of serially connected switches are mounted respectively beneath the platform ring and beneath the collecting basin so as to be closed when a weight is pressed down on each switch and thus electrically connected to activate the first pair of lights. Another switch is connected to a simulated flush handle and, when pivoted by the user, to activate the second light or lights. Thus, the lighting acts to positively respond to the child user carrying on the desired acts and learning proper toilet use.

Abstract: A toilet training device for children comprising a receptacle for receiving urine from a child, thermally actuated latent image element positioned in the receptacle, the receptacle having an open top for viewing the thermally actuated latent image element whereby urine received within the receptacle actuates the element causing the latent image to appear and be seen by the child thereby encouraging use of the toilet.

Abstract: A convertible multi-functional seat apparatus includes a base having a generally horizontal seat with an opening formed therein and a pair of generally vertical armrests disposed along and extending above opposite sides of the seat, and a generally upright back attached to the base and disposed along a rear end of the seat. The seat apparatus also includes a seat potty cover supported on the seat for movement between a first position adjacent to seat in which the cover overlies and conceals the opening and a second position remote from the seat in which the cover is displaced from and exposes the opening. The potty assembly is disposed in the opening and supported by an internal rim of the seat forming the opening therein. The potty assembly includes a replaceable plastic bag and an annular retainer ring supporting the bag about a peripheral edge portion thereof in the opening by the internal rim of the seat.

Abstract: An integrally molded unitary stackable commode chair comprises a seat with a central opening, four legs, a back rest, and two armrests that have a greater vertical elevation at the chair front than at the rear. The seat comprises subjacent ribs to provide strength and durability. The seat also has a slightly resilient transition zone that partially borders the central opening and is free from subjacent ribs and gussets.

Abstract: A portable compact toilet for infants and toddlers which can be used as an effective "potty" training tool. The toilet includes an apertured seat with four legs pivotally mounted to the underside and foldable into a collapsed position, and a cover pivotally mounted to the seat and securable into a position covering the seat to form a compact package. The cover includes an internal and external storage section for receiving toilet accessories. The internal storage section is received in the seat aperture when the cover is positioned over the seat.

Abstract: A hammock style campers' toilet seat for suspension between trees. The toilet seat includes a web of support straps for lending longitudinal and lateral strength to the seat, and a resilient stiffener ring running about the toilet opening for lending stiffness to the relatively flexible seat about the toilet opening.

Abstract: A commode chair of unitary molded plastic construction having chair legs, a seat and a chair back. The seat comprises an upper and a lower seat section, at least one of which comprises a toilet seat with a central opening. The toilet seat has a seating surface sculpted and configured in molded form to accommodate and support the posterior of the human anatomy in the seating position. A commode bucket is provided which is supported by the lower seat section and depends downwardly through the central opening therein.

Abstract: A collapsible wheelchair assembly is provided that may be folded for storage with attached toilet seat. A waste pan is interlocked with wheelchair braces to sit under a flexible plastic seat, having a toilet opening, that hinges when the wheelchair is folded. Thus, a portable collapsible toilet facility is afforded incontinent patients for use in transit whenever necessary.

Abstract: The infirm or disabled often face problems of great magnitude in meeting basic toilet needs. The present assembly seeks to solve problems associated with having to transfer from a chair or bed device to a separate device such as a commode chair or bathroom commode. The assembly relates to a seat insert assembly and a commode assembly that can be used within an article of furniture. The seat insert assembly rotates at two points to control the angular positioning of the seat insert so as to optimize occupant comfort and to provide a near seamless transition with the seat when in motion. The commode assembly has rotating mechanism to position a commode receptacle, to keep the commode substantially vertical during movement, and to cover the commode lid for temporary storage of waste.

Abstract: A toilet pot is comprised of four rigid or semi-rigid upright walls. The upright walls include two side walls opposing each other and a front wall and a rear wall opposing each other. Each side wall is formed of two panels hingedly connected together for folding inwardly. The upright walls together define a generally rectangular cavity. The front and rear walls are pivotably connected together with the opposing side walls. A seat member is hingedly connected to the upper edge of the rear wall for overlaying the generally rectangular cavity. The seat member is provided with side support walls which are hingedly connected thereto and capable of folding down along side the side walls such as to hold the side walls open when the toilet pot is in use. A removable fluid immersible lining bag is provided for insertion within the generally rectangular cavity defined by the upright walls. A second embodiment is disclosed having a removable seat member and alternative side wall support members.

The attachment has a cap composed of a polymeric rim and a polymeric plug interfitted with the rim. The rim has an underside annular recess to receive the bucket rim, and a central opening defined by an interior wall. The plug has an exterior wall of a size and shape complementary with the rim interior wall. An O-ring seal and retainer is retained in an annular recess in the plug exterior wall, and compressibly interfits with the rim interior wall to seal the opening and to frictionally retain the plug in the rim until the plug is intentionally removed. The bucket bail interfits with notches in the rim to secure the assembly.

The leg members are positionable between a fully deployed position, which serve to elevate the seat above a surface so as to enable usage of the appratus as a stand alone toilet, and a fully retracted position which enables the apparatus to be used in operable cooperation with a supporting toilet seat of a conventional toilet. Restraining members are attached to the leg members so as to facilitate aligned and secured cooperation with the conventional supporting toilet seat, when the apparatus is used in association therewith.

Abstract: A foldable, portable personal commode is disclosed according to the teachings of the present invention including a case having an openable top and front. A toilet seat is pivotally mounted to a block secured in the case. A U-shaped support is pivotally mounted to the toilet seat and removably holds the toilet seat in its horizontal position when the free ends of its legs are vertically inserted in sockets secured to the front when it is in its open position. The toilet seat and U-shaped support may be pivoted generally parallel to each other and arranged vertically within the case allowing closing of the front and top of the case. L-shaped arm supports may be removably secured to the vertical sides of the U-shaped support to face either forward or rearward. A removable U-shaped back rest is adjustably inserted in the block of the case. The toilet seat includes affixed hardware which supports a removable collar which slideably receives the opening of a plastic bag retained thereon by a rubber band.

Abstract: A transportable, disassemblable lavatory cabin is provided and includes a plurality of wall segments, optional ceiling and floor segments, and at least one tension strap extending around the exterior of the wall segments to provide a stable, closed construction which can be assembled quickly and without the need for tools. To facilitate the manufacture, transportation, and installation of the cabin, as well as to permit mass production, the wall segments are at least partially manufactured as demoldable, hollow blow moldings with substantially the same outer ground plan. This permits the wall segments to be stacked for easy transportation. Each of the wall segments is manufactured to have a first wall part which is substantially straight on its outside in ground plan and at least one second wall part firmly connected to the first wall part and preferably formed at an angle of 60.degree. thereto.

Abstract: A replacement seat is disclosed for a commode chair for immobile or substantially immobile persons. The replacement seat is a rigid, integrally molded combination seat and backrest sized to retrofit existing chair frames. The seat is attached to the frame either by means of lips on the seat which frictionally grasp the frame, or by a manually releasable locking mechanism.

Abstract: The bedside toilet includes an elongated platform including a posterior section, a back section, and a leg section, which are hinged together so that the platform can be moved from a horizontal position to an operable position in which the back section extends upwardly from the posterior section and the leg section extends downwardly. The posterior section includes a toilet. The posterior section is supported in cantilevered fashion from a supporting structure which is carried by a trolley that rides on an overhead track. The supporting structure is composed of two sections that can be moved relative to each other to vary the distance between the track and the platform. A power mounted mechanism, such as a fluid cylinder, interconnects the posterior section with the back section and the leg section, respectively, and individual operation of the cylinders can permit the back section and leg section to pivot with respect to the posterior section.

Abstract: A portable, knockdown toilet includes a top unit and a bottom unit which cooperate with each other to define a carrying case into which a collapsible midunit, a collapsible insert unit, collection bags, and accessories are placed for carrying and storage. A handle is attached to the carrying case. Flexible waste collection bags are included, and a desiccant gel is also included as are bag ties so cleanup is facilitated.

Abstract: A potty chair for toilet training children and of the type having an automatic speech and tune producing capability. The tune generating circuit (36) plays a tune when a child first sits on the potty chair seat (24). A moisture sensing circuit (32) detects the introduction of bodily waste into the waste receptor (20): which it communicates to the speech generating circuit (38), causing it to play a voice message. In addition, a changeable data storage circuit (40) determines the tune and voice messages that are produced. Other features of the invention include control of the tune and speech volume and power conditioning for the electronic circuits.

Abstract: A portable commode is disclosed made of an outer base support, an inner base support and an upper seat part. The outer base support is configured as a rectangle with preformed creases in opposing walls where the walls are bent inwardly, forming a bow-tie shape. The inner base support may take any number of configurations. The seat part is like a box-lid with a hole in the center, and downwardly extending edges. When in use, the seat part rests upon the base supports. For storage and transport, the outer and inner base supports may be folded flat to fit within the undersurface of the seat part.

Abstract: A portable commode comprises legs which support a tubular frame. The frame defines a chair-like configuration that includes an arm support and front and rear parallel horizontal cross bar members. A seat has an integrally molded seat clamp that projects from a rear portion thereof. The seat clamp has a groove that is situated away from a bottom plane of the seat and configured for locking receipt on, and pivotal movement about, the rear cross bar member. The commode also includes a lid which has an integrally molded lid clamp that projects from a rear portion thereof. The lid clamp has a groove that is situated diametrically away from a bottom plane of the lid and is configured for pivotal receipt on the rear cross bar member.

Abstract: A bedside toilet apparatus including an elongated platform to support a patient. The platform includes a posterior section, a back section and a leg section which are hinged together so that the platform can be moved from a generally horizontal condition to an operable position in which the back section extends upwardly from the posterior section and the leg section extends downwardly. The posterior section includes a toilet. The platform is supported in cantilevered relation by a pair of arms each of which extends outwardly from a housing. A first drive mechanism in the housing operates to raise and lower the arms to thereby move the platform vertically, while a second drive mechanism moves the housings in unison to position the platform over a bed. After the patient is on the platform and the platform is moved away from the bed, a third drive mechanism operates to move the platform from the horizontal to the operating position where the patient is in a normal position for bowel movement.

Abstract: An apparatus for collection of fecal matter designed to operate efficiently in a zero gravity environment. The system comprises a waste collection area within a body having a seat opening. Low pressure within the waste collection area directs fecal matter away from the user's buttocks and prevents the escape of undesirable gases. The user actuates a piston covered with an absorbent pad that sweeps through the waste collection area to collect fecal matter, scrub the waste collector area, press the waste against an end of the waste collection area and retracts, leaving the used pad. Multiple pads are provided on the piston to accommodate multiple uses of the system. Also a valve allows air to be drawn through the body, which valve will not be plugged with fecal matter. A sheet feeder feeds fresh sheets of absorbent pad to a face of the piston with each actuation.

Abstract: A commode device for invalid patients is disclosed comprising a framemember having a plurality of legs with a toilet seat portion horizontally supported on the frame. A commode receptacle having a bottom, sidewalls, and an open top is detachably mounted on the frame directly below the toilet seat portion. An access port is provided in the sidewall of the commode receptacle to permit manual access into the interior of the receptacle to permit cleaning of a patient seated above the open top thereof. A closure means is provided on the access port to permit selective opening and closing thereof.

Abstract: An improved commode with a removable receptacle is provided with a chair portion, front and rear legs, and horizontal braces extending between the front legs and the rear legs, respectively. The rear brace is adapted for mounting a hinged toilet seat thereto. A novel support structure connects the rear brace to the front brace. The support structure includes two substantially parallel flat bars each having a raised portion extending above the rear brace for supporting the underside of the toilet seat near the rear brace. The support structure also includes a contoured widened opening for retaining a pail between the raised supporting portion and the front brace.

Abstract: A portable stacking and nesting toilet comprises a small cup member which will nest inside a larger cup-shaped member, a seat member having a central opening, and a resilient sealing lid. The bottom of each cup has a raised lip which will engage the lip of the other cup and the open top ends of the cups have an annular rim. The seat member has a groove which engages the rim of the larger cup. In the stored position, the smaller cup nests inside the larger one and the bottom of the larger cup fits inside the seat opening. When assembled for use, the smaller cup is inverted with the resilient lid installed on its rim to serve as a non-skid base and the larger cup is installed upright on the inverted smaller one to engage the bottom lips. A watertight bag is placed in the upright larger cup with the open end of the bag folded over its rim. The seat is placed on the rim of the larger cup to secure the top of the bag on the cup rim and the toilet is ready for use.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for integrated passenger seat and toilet for vehicles. The apparatus includes a structural seat, an integrated toilet, a water supply, a waste system and a swivel mechanism. The method includes modifying the vehicle, supplying the apparatus, installing the apparatus and using the apparatus. The passenger seat rotates to lockable positions for use in multiple orientations. Segmented seat cushion is hingeably attached to structural seat members and molded to provide a seal with the toilet seat below. Water is pumped from a reservoir through a flexible hose to a ported water rinse ring in the toilet. Wastes are released through a flapper mechanism into a holding tank sanitarily sealed to the toilet. Privacy curtain is provided.

Abstract: A children's toilet apparatus is disclosed that is convertible from a free-standing potty chair to a toilet trainer that cooperates with a conventional toilet. The apparatus principally comprises a toilet seat member and adjustable legs which are pivotally interconnected. When employed as a free-standing potty chair, the leg members independently support the toilet seat member. When utilized as a toilet trainer, the leg members are oriented so that the toilet seat member is stabilized on and about the water closet seat of a conventional toilet by virtue of the interconnection of the toilet seat member and the leg members and contact of one of the leg members with a floor surface. In a preferred arrangement, one of the leg members is provided with a step member and hand grips to aid children in positioning themselves on top of the toilet seat member when the apparatus is employed as a toilet trainer.

Abstract: The invention or inventions involve various sanitary toilet systems, assemblies, subassemblies, embodiments or structures comprising components, the majority of which are relatively light in weight, readily constructed or formed into the shapes and dimensions desired to provide structures which are portable, very durable, economical to manufacture and assemble, and service when required.Each of the toilet assemblies embodies, among other things, what may be termed a housing or base, a support or supporting enclosure disposed in the housing, a receptacle located in the enclosure for receiving body waste, a seat mounted in relation to the housing and provided with a relatively large opening in communication with the receptacle, and a cover having a portion for overlying the seat and a portion for disposition in the opening for substantially closing the same. This unique connecting relationship between the seat and cover to close the opening also appears to constitute an advance in the art.

Abstract: A receptacle adapted to be disposed for receiving, by gravity, waste discharges from a person is an elongated container having an elongated aperture defined at the top thereof for receiving waste into the container. The container has side and end surfaces specially formed with concave surfaces to direct laterally-moving fluid waste in the container, the motion being caused by movement of the receptacle, in a generally upward direction, and the container has a portion for thereafter directing the fluid downward, back on itself to dampen sloshing or wave motion to prevent spillage and splashing. In another aspect, the receptacle is disposed in waste-receiving relationship to a person on a chair for an incontinent disabled person, the chair having an apertured cushion disposed over the receptacle which is mounted to be removed from the chair.

Abstract: A bathroom radio is provided and consists of a housing in the shape of an animal such as a duck to hold a radio circuit within, a pair of suction cup legs, for securing the housing in a place between a toilet tank and a toilet seat cover and a pressure sensitive switch in the flexible bill of an adjustable head of the housing electrically connected to the radio circuit so that when the toilet seat cover is lifted up the cover will press against the pressure sensitive switch to close the radio circuit and when the toilet seat cover is placed back down the pressure sensitive switch will open turning the radio circuit off.

Abstract: A chair for immobile patients. The chair has a high back portion, a seat portion that provides a toilet function, and a foot rest portion. The chair is specifically designed so that it is easily maneuvered from its reclined position to its upright position even when a patient is strapped therein. A pair of detachable auxiliary legs are provided that can be added to convert the chair into a wheel chair. The auxiliary legs can also be employed to stabilize the chair against lateral tipping when the chair is in its upright position on the edge of a bed. The seat portion is removable so that a portable toilet is thereby provided independently of the balance of the structural features of the chair. A pair of vertically spaced roller members, interconnected by a continuous belt, are provided to permit easy maneuvering of the chair relative to the surface of a bed when the chair is in its reclined position.

Abstract: A disposable bedpan liner in accordance with one aspect of the invention includes an elongated liquid impervious flexible sleeve having oppositely disposed open ends. The mouth of the liner is defined at one end of such sleeve and has first handle means associated therewith to allow the mouth to be opened and brought into juxtaposition with the seat portion of a bedpan and to be closed after use by a patient. A second handle means is connected adjacent the other of the sleeve ends so that when the sleeve is folded over on itself and the first and second handle means are brought and held together, a purse-like structure is provided. The thus folded over sleeve forms a pouch for containing waste matter with release of the second handle means allowing the sleeve to unfold and the waste matter to pass outwardly through the above-noted other one of the open ends.

Abstract: The invention is a device to assist people who are incapacitated by age, injury, illness, or other causes, to eliminate body waste. The device may be used while in bed or while seated. The device consists of two segments. A first segment (in conjunction with the second segment) is used when the user is confined to a bed. A second segment is combined with the first segment for use when the user is able to sit up, as in a chair. The first segment consists of a pair of side supports which are fastened to the second segment and may be set at various angles in relation to the horizontal. A transverse member is affixed to the side supports, the transverse member having suitable leg rests therein to support the user's legs at various angles in a plurality of positions to assist in the human waste elimination.
