  • Patent number: 7654759
Abstract: A safety mechanism includes multiple positioning recesses defined in a bottom face of the head of the adjusting sleeve, a stop received in one of the positioning recesses, a slot defined in a top face of the body, an urging spring received in the slot, and a urging ball partially received in the slot and urged by the urging spring. Therefore, rotation of the adjusting sleeve relative to the body is limited due to engagement between the urging ball and the stop which is received in one of the positioning recesses and separation between the adjusting sleeve and the body is avoided.

  • Patent number: 7607871
Abstract: A floating tool-bit depth controlling nosepiece for a spring loaded tool holder is used to countersink holes of equal size when the height of the work piece material changes. The floating tool-bit depth controlling nosepiece, driven by a cnc machine, is rigidly coupled to the floating portion of the tool holding element. The floating depth controlling nosepiece has a bearing on the end to allow an area of the nosepiece to stop rotating when the nosepiece is pressed against the work-piece surface. Since the area of the nosepiece that comes into contact with the work-piece is no longer spinning in relationship with the work-piece, the possibility of scratching the work-piece surface is reduced. Additionally, the nosepiece has cutouts therein to expel machined chips during countersinking of holes.

  • Patent number: 6283684
Abstract: The apparatus includes a drill motor and a cutter drive mechanism coupled with the drill motor for rotating and advancing a rotary cutter along an axial direction, and a clamping mechanism having a pair of opposed clamping members and an actuator that moves the clamping members relatively toward and away from each other for clamping and releasing a workpicce. The actuator is a fluid-operated cylinder such as an air cylinder, and a fluid circuit associated with the cylinder is arranged such that in a normal state of the fluid circuit the cylinder urges the clamping members together to clamp the workpiece. The apparatus includes a control valve that can be operated to cause the fluid circuit to control the cylinder to move the clamping members apart.

  • Patent number: 6264405
Abstract: Method and device for drilling holes into a mantle of a cylinder of a paper machine, in particular a drying cylinder, while the cylinder is in its site of operation in the paper machine in which a drill carriage having drill bits is supported on the cylinder being drilled. The drill carriage is locked in a fixed position relative to the cylinder being drilled the drill bits are pressed into the mantle of the cylinder to be drilled and rotating to thereby drill holes in the cylinder mantle. The drill carriage is supported on the cylinder being drilled by a first set of wheels arranged on the drill carriage during drilling and is displaced upon rotation of a second set of wheels which contact the cylinder only for axial movement and not during drilling.

Abstract: A drill press including a vertically disposed support post and a pivot assembly supported upon the support post is disclosed. A table is supported on the pivot assembly. The pivot assembly is pivotable about a first substantially horizontal axis, with the table pivoting about the first horizontal axis jointly with the pivot assembly. The table also is pivotable relative to the pivot assembly about a second substantially horizontal axis. The pivot assembly also may be pivoted around a vertical axis defined by the post and may be raised and lowered along the vertical post. A clamp plate is adjustable secured to the table and a telescoping extension arm is fixably secured relative to the table by the clamp plate. A guide fence is slidably disposable along the upper surface of the table and may be secured at various locations. A clamp may be adjustably secured either directly to the table or to the guide fence to vertically clamp a workpiece on the table.
