  • Patent number: 6345960
Abstract: An apparatus for high pressure pumping or homogenizing of liquids has a drive motor with a transmission mechanism and a pump section. The transmission mechanism includes a belt train, a gearbox and a crank mechanism which is housed in a crankcase. The pump section includes a pump block, valves, and pistons which are connected to the crank mechanism. The transmission mechanism converts the rotary movement of the drive motor into the reciprocating movement of the pump pistons. The drive motor is placed directly above the crankcase and is surrounded on two sides by partitions which are interconnected by a roof. The partitions form, together with the roof, an air channel such that the driving parts of the apparatus may be cooled in a simple and efficient manner. By use of various arrangements peripheral to the apparatus, the air may be led off or recycled after cooling and recovery of the heat.

  • Patent number: 6334759
Abstract: A valve housing of the control valve has a communication passage communicating a suction port of the compressor with a crank chamber of the compressor. A main valve is provided in the valve housing for opening and closing the communication passage. A spring member resiliently biases the main valve toward its closed position. A pressure actuated unit moves the main valve toward the open position by receiving a suction pressure of the compressor. A flow adjustment valve is disposed in the valve housing for adjusting an open degree of a leak passage and receives the discharge pressure exerting a force on the flow adjustment valve toward its closed position. The flow adjustment valve increases a leak flow rate of a fluid flowing from a discharge port of the compressor to a crank chamber through a leak passage when the compressor provides a lower discharge pressure. A correction spring is disposed between the main valve and the flow adjustment valve.

The reservoir acts as a source bottle for the second pump and allows the first pump to pump the viscous fluid through the filter at a rate independent of the dispensing rate of the second pump. By operating the first pump at a rate independent of the second pump, back pressure at the filter is avoided. Each hydraulically activated diaphragm pump is equipped with an improved diaphragm that is pre-formed to the geometries of the process fluid cavity thereby eliminating any inaccuracies in the operation of the pumps due to expansion of retraction of the diaphragm during pump operation.

  • Patent number: 6179578
Abstract: A compressor includes a compressing mechanism for compressing refrigerant gas and an oil separator for separating the oil from the gas. The separated oil is used to lubricate the compressor. The compressor has a discharge passage to permit refrigerant gas to flow out of the compressor, a recess located in the discharge passage, a plug press fitted in the recess and a supply passage for returning the separated oil to the compressor. The plug and the recess define a separation chamber having a circular cross-section and an annular chamber. The separation chamber is connected with the annular chamber by an outlet passage formed in the plug. The refrigerant gas swirls along the wall of the separation chamber, which separates the oil from the gas. Since the plug is press fitted in the recess, installation of the plug is facilitated. This structure also prevents the plug from loosening.

  • Patent number: 6179577
Abstract: An assembly (10) for pumping fuel from a fuel source to an engine combusting the fuel comprises a housing (14), and a fuel pump (12) mounted in the housing. One end (18) of the housing defines a fuel inlet (20a, 20b) for the pump. A fuel filter (16) is mounted externally of the housing and fuel drawn into the fuel pump flows through the filter. A valve member (22) is fitted onto the end of the housing adjacent the fuel inlet for opening and closing the fuel inlet. The valve member is movable by the fuel filter during its installation to move the valve member to a position at which the fuel inlet is open. Removal of the filter causes the valve member to be moved to a position blocking the fuel inlet. A heater (40a, 40b) is carried on the valve member and is installed adjacent the fuel inlet. The heater heats fuel flowing into the fuel inlet to a predetermined temperature as the fuel is drawn into the fuel pump.

  • Patent number: 6179568
Abstract: A pump includes a housing defining a cavity, at least one bore, a bore inlet, and a bore outlet. The bore extends from the cavity to the outlet and the inlet communicates with the bore at a position between the cavity and the outlet. A crankshaft is mounted in supports and has an eccentric portion disposed in the cavity. The eccentric portion is coupled to a piston so that rotation of the crankshaft reciprocates the piston in the bore between a discharge position an intake position. The bore may be offset from an axis of rotation to reduce bending of the piston during crankshaft rotation. During assembly of the pump, separate parts of the housing can be connected together to facilitate installation of internal pumping components. Also disclosed is a method of reducing vapor lock by mixing vapor and liquid portions of a substance and introducing the mixture into a piston bore.

  • Patent number: 6159383
Abstract: A filter head having a pump housing, a flow passage network, and a mounting bracket is adaptable to engage a replaceable filter cartridge. An electric pump is positioned within the pump housing. A Seal/isolator disposed between the pump housing and electric pump protects the electric pump from vibrations. After changing the filter cartridge, typically an air pocket forms creating a danger for a fuel injector or fuel injector pump. By using an electronic controller, an operator may remotely operate the electric pump to prime the filter cartridge. Also, the electronic controller may selectively determine whether the fluid flowing from the filter cartridge passes through the electric pump or instead passes directly into an outlet.
