  • Patent number: 8747078
Abstract: A gas separator having an improved flowpath for lighter fluids having a higher concentration of gas decreases total pumping head for an ESP assembly. The ESP assembly includes a rotary primary pump, a motor coupled to the primary pump for driving the pump, a seal assembly between the primary pump and the motor, and a gas separator between the seal assembly and the primary pump. An outlet of the gas separator feeds an intake of the primary pump, and a rotating shaft operationally couples the primary pump to the motor and passes through the seal assembly and the gas separator. The gas separator contains a venting portion, and a diverter positioned within the venting portion having diverter guide vanes formed in a flowpath of the lighter fluid for aiding in a directional change of fluid momentum. A slinger is positioned within the diverter for impelling fluid through the venting port.

  • Patent number: 8651828
Abstract: A combined debris catcher and pressure relief valve positionable between first and second ports of an inlet arrangement that is upstream of the main body of a vacuum pump. The debris catcher includes an open ended tube that is spring biased upwardly and in normal operation forms a seal with the inlet arrangement. In the raised or sealed position, incoming fluid from the system to be evacuated travels along a closed flow path through the first port of the inlet arrangement, through the debris catcher, and out through the second port of the inlet arrangement into the main body of the vacuum pump. If the inlet arrangement is hooked up initially or at any time to a system that is above atmospheric pressure, the above atmospheric pressure will overcome the upward force of the spring on the tube and cause the tube to move to an open position spaced from the inlet arrangement harmlessly venting the high pressure fluid to ambient air and avoiding potential damage or contamination to the pump.

Abstract: A micro-dosing pump includes a pump chamber substrate, a flexible membrane, a fluid line, a valve disk, a magnetizable actuator disk, and a drive unit. The pump chamber substrate has a pump chamber. The flexible membrane is on a first side of the pump chamber substrate and covers the pump chamber in a fluid-tight manner. The fluid line is on a second side of the pump chamber substrate such that fluid can enter and leave the pump chamber. The valve disk, arranged inside the pump chamber, has a fluid through-opening and is configured to close the fluid line by rotating and to open it via the through-opening. The actuator disk is coupled to the valve disk such that rotating the actuator disk rotates the valve disk. The drive unit has a pump plunger configured to move the membrane for suction or ejection of fluid and to rotate the actuator disk.

The controller is in communication with the pump, and directs the switch to engage the pump when the water flow exceeds a predetermined, non-zero threshold flow rate. In certain embodiments, the system further includes a variable outlet. The variable outlet is operable at a first flow setting for a flow rate greater than the threshold and a second flow setting for a non-zero flow rate less than the threshold.

Abstract: A peristaltic pump, and related system method are provided. The peristaltic pump includes a cam shaft, first and second pinch-valve cams, first and second pinch-valve cam followers, a plunger cam, a plunger-cam follower, a tube receiver, and a spring-biased plunger. The first and second pinch-valve cams are coupled to the cam shaft. The first and second pinch-valve cam followers each engage the first and second pinch-valve cams, respectively. The plunger cam is coupled to the cam shaft. The plunger-cam follower engages the plunger cam. The tube receiver is configured to receive a tube. The spring-biased plunger is coupled to the plunger-cam follower such that the expansion of the plunger cam along a radial angle intersecting the plunger-cam follower as the cam shaft rotates pushes the plunger cam follower towards the plunger and thereby disengages the spring-biased plunger from the tube. A spring coupled to the spring-biased plunger biases the spring-biased plunger to apply the crushing force to the tube.
