A discharge side is disposed downstream from the outlet valve. A passageway is disposed in fluid communication between the discharge side and the product chamber. A valve is disposed in the passageway. The valve is opened intermittently to allow liquid to re-enter the product chamber in an amount effective to purge gas from the product chamber to prevent loss of prime.

Abstract: A pump includes a base and a cylinder installed on the base. The base defines a pumping channel. The cylinder defines a first chamber and a second chamber with a diameter different from that of the first chamber. The first and second chambers are in communication with the pumping channel. A first check valve only allows air to travel into the pumping channel from the first chamber. A second check valve allows air to travel into the pumping channel from the second chamber. A first piston is movable in the first chamber. A second piston is movable in the second chamber. A control device prevents the venting of air from the chambers in a first mode, vents air from the second chamber without traveling through the pumping channel in a second mode, and vents air from the first chamber without traveling through the pumping channel in a third mode.

The unit includes a motor driving a highly accurate cam-operated double-acting piston metering pump, both of which are contained in a liquid fuel environment. As the liquid fuel is pumped it works to cool internal components including the motor. An electronic motor drive is contained in a dry chamber of the unit for controlling operation of the motor and pump and is cooled indirectly by the fuel as well. A pressure sensitive flow divider is also included for selectively providing one or multiple output fuel flow paths depending upon whether a pressure threshold is reached, for example to send fuel to primary and secondary burner nozzles. Filter, filter bypass, pressure relief, and fuel shut-off components are also integrated into the single modular unit.

Abstract: A scroll compressor is provided with a passage for providing both an unloader function and an economizer injection function. This common passage communicates with separate ports. The ports that are exclusively used for by-pass unloading operation are open only during by-pass unloading operation, but blocked off by a check valve during vapor injection operation. The other, normally smaller vapor injection ports are open for both vapor injection and by-pass unloading operation. By utilizing these two sets of ports, a smaller total port area is provided for vapor injection operation and a much larger total open port area for by-pass operation. The different open port areas for by-pass unloading operation and vapor injection operation allows optimization of compressor operation at both of those regimes of operation.
