  • Patent number: 4850840
Abstract: A screening device for a melt of plastic material includes a housing provided with a throughflow boring forming a part of a high pressure plastic press. A screen plate is movable transversely across the boring and includes a series of screening openings arranged at the level of the throughflow boring and being separated one from each other by an narrow web. To minimize the formation of pressure gradients in the throughflow boring when a new screening opening is entering the boring, each web has at its interface with the housing a narrow overflow slot which sets up a gradual connection for an inflow current of the melt during the entry of a new evacuated opening into the region of the throughflow boring.

  • Patent number: 4762482
Abstract: The material containers filled with a polyester material are moved in the feed device from an intake position to a discharge position by pivoting 180.degree. with the aid of a swivel frame. In the discharge position the material container is in a coaxial position between the feed cylinder and the retracted feed ram. For emptying, the feed ram passes through the hollow, cylindrical material container, which is open on both front ends, and plunges into the feed cylinder to press the material into the plasticizing unit of the injection molding machine. The material container thus forms a part of the feed cylinder and the feed ram is simultaneously used as a discharge piston, as a result of which the usually necessary, additional discharge devices and the storage space of the feed cylinder can be eliminated.

Longitudinally spaced opposed pairs of plate clamps are adjustably and guidably mounted upon opposite sides of the body plate adapted to receive and retainingly engage opposite sides of a clamp plate.

  • Patent number: 4470787
Abstract: A press system that provides rapid advance of one platen on a movable crosshead through the use of programmed hydraulic controls and is specifically adapted for use with sheet molding compound (SMC) presses. Rapid locking or latching of the crosshead and the platen it carries is achieved through the use of hydraulically operated clamping and release cylinders. The lower platen is supported on hydrostatic bearings permitting the platen to move and at the same time parallelism of the mold halves is maintained by swiveling molding power cylinders. Separate push-back cylinders are used to separate the mold through a short load path so that when the mold "breaks away" there is very little springback to minimize any part breakage during mold stripping. The lower platen also includes a mounting arrangement that provides the advantages of a rolling bolster or lower platen with a minimum of mounting structure.

  • Patent number: 4462782
Abstract: An injection sleeve molding machine having a rubber injection section and a sleeve molding section, in which the sleeve molding section includes a barrel with a mold cavity for receiving uncured rubber material, and two mandrels having a forward and rearward end inserted axially and alternately into the cavity of the barrel for a molding operation. The rear end of the mandrels are mounted on a pivoted member on a carriage which travels parallel to the axis of the mandrels for inserting the mandrels in the cavity of the barrel. When the molding operation has been completed, the carriage withdraws the mandrel from the cavity, and the pivoted member for the mandrels is rotated angularly to place a mandrel in position for insertion in the cavity. When it has been inserted in the cavity, the second injection operation is performed and, while that second operation is being performed, the previously formed molded sleeve is stripped from the first mandrel, thus preparing it for the next succeeding molding operation.
