Abstract: A first insulating layer 1 is formed by electrodeposition coating on the surface of an outer circumference of a linear conductor m wherein the cross sectional shape thereof is substantially square, and further thereon, a second insulating layer 2 is formed by dipping. In the formation of the first insulating layer 1, swelling occurs in the first insulating layer at a corner portion of conductor m due to the electrodeposition characteristics of electrodeposition coating. The relative concavo-convex occurs on the surface of the layer 1 by the swelling. The concavo-convex is planarized by the second insulating layer formed in accordance with film-forming characteristics of the dipping, whereby an insulated square wire superior in voltage resistance and conductor space factor is obtained.

Abstract: A stage on which a substrate having target discharge areas is placed moves relative to a discharge head unit. When at least one of a plurality of first discharge nozzles of the discharge head unit reaches one of the target discharge areas, the first nozzle discharges a first droplet of fluid material to the target discharge area. When one of a plurality of second nozzles of the discharge head unit reaches the target discharge area to which the first droplet has been discharged, the second nozzle discharges a second droplet of the fluid material to the target discharge area. A first nozzle row of the first nozzles and a second nozzle row of the second nozzles are separated by a predetermined distance in a direction of the relative movement of the stage and the discharge head unit.

Abstract: An EDM wire having an outer coating of epsilon phase brass and a process for manufacturing the EDM wire is provided. The process includes coating a copper bearing metallic core with zinc. The zinc coating is then converted to epsilon phase brass by heat treating the wire at a temperature low enough to minimize or eliminate any resulting changes in the mechanical properties of the wire. The coated core wire may be drawn to a finish size prior to heat treatment which will result in a wire with a substantially continuous epsilon phase coating.

Such a magnet wire can be conventionally wound using current transformer manufacturing processes but can be produced at significantly lower cost due to the almost 75% reduction in the volume of insulating polymeric material applied to the magnet wire core as compared to similar prior art such products. The method provides for the application of the insulating polymeric coating to only a single minor axis facet of the magnet wire core through the use of custom dies and a modified manufacturing process.
