Abstract: A method for providing a superhydrophobic surface on a structure, for example aircraft wings, propellers and/or rotors, is set forth. The method includes applying a coating of hydrofluoric acid over a titanium substrate. A voltage is then applied across the titanium substrate so that current flows through the titanium substrate. The current flowing through the titanium substrate causes the hydrofluoric acid to react with the titanium substrate to anodize the titanium substrate. The anodization causes a nanoporous titanium oxide layer to grow across the titanium substrate. The titanium oxide layer includes a plurality of nano-tube structures that, once the remaining hydrofluoric acid is washed away, provide a microscopically rough surface on the titanium substrate. A conformal coating of a hydrophobic compound is then desposited on the microscopically rough surface to create a superhydrophobic surface.

Abstract: A solution containing a polymer and a solvent is discharged onto a surface of a polymer film to form a coating film. When a thickness of the coating film is a critical thickness or less, dewetting of the solution occurs on the surface, and the coating film becomes a dewetting material having dewetting pores. Wet air is blown to a surface of the dewetting material. The solvent is evaporated from the dewetting material. Water vapor is condensed from ambient air on the surface of the dewetting material to generate water drops. Dry air is blown to the surface of the dewetting material. The solvent and the water drops are evaporated from the dewetting material. Thereby, it is possible to produce a porous material whose surface includes first pores as the dewetting pores formed by the dewetting of the solution and the second pores formed by the water drops as a template for the porous material.

Abstract: An epitaxy processing system and its processing method for enhancing operation efficiency is provided. The system includes a stacked cassette, a transportation device, a reaction chamber, and a cooling device. The cooling device can rapidly cool down susceptor and processed wafers without damaging the epitaxy layer. The cluster system design minimizes the footprint of system, reduces the operation cost, and increases throughput and thereby enhances the productivity of the system.
Abstract: Systems and methods for enhanced moisture vapor barrier performance for concrete-containing materials and surfaces are disclosed. Treatment modalities that include addition of the disclosed materials, compositions and systems to pre- and post-construction concrete-containing materials and surfaces are provided. Moisture vapor barrier properties are effected over an extended period of time as compared to control systems. The disclosed compositions and systems also yield reductions in the rate and/or impact of corrosion are achieved for concrete-containing structures and surfaces and, despite the water soluble properties of the compositions and systems, the treatments are effective in delivering an advantageous level of liquid moisture resistance to the treated concrete-containing structure and/or surface. The composition is synthesized from a feedstock that includes C9 to C16 branched hydrocarbons of varying structures.
