  • Patent number: 5396713
Abstract: A set of thin, flat stencil plates are stacked together face-to-face to form a three-dimensional article shaped as a decorative article. The stencil plates are held together in the three-dimensional form by a connecting member or by frictionally interlocking them to one another. The stencil plates each contain one or more apertures of unique shapes, so the plates can be disassembled from the three-dimensional form and used individually as separate stencils. The stencil plates have peripheral outer surfaces which cooperate to form the three-dimensional shape of a selected design figure when the plates are assembled in a particular sequence, and the article, in its assembled form, conceals the stencils contained inside the finished three-dimensional article. The invention has use as a puzzle in stacking together the stencil plates in the proper sequence, and the finished article can be an art object or a toy, for example.

  • Patent number: 4883692
Abstract: An aromatic decorative figure or other object formed of foam plastic material having dispersed throughout its cellular structure a relatively large amount of a volatile liquid fragrance. When the figure is exposed to the atmosphere, it continuously exudes the fragrance for a prolonged period, in the course of which the figure proceeds to shrink as a result of liquid loss, thereby indicating the approaching exhaustion of the fragrance. In one embodiment, the figure is created in situ by injecting a charge of a foam-forming mixture having the liquid fragrance dispersed therein into the cavity of a blister pack whose transparent blister is configured to assume the contours of the desired figure. The injected mixture expands within the cavity to form a figure which conforms to the contours of the blister and is cured therein. The resultant foam-plastic figure is effectively sealed within the pack to prevent the escape of fragrance, the pack also serving to display and protect the figure.

  • Patent number: 4781597
Abstract: This invention relates to an article of manufacture and a method for making same, such as an artificial bird body used in taxidermy and essentially made to represent a plucked bird body using a polyurethane foam casting of the plucked carcass. The final foam casting is made in a two (2) step process. The first step consists of plucking the feathers from a bird so that the skin, muscles, connecting tissue and bones are intact in the bird body. Next, a casting is made using a specific procedure so that the bird is cast in the final pose desired. Special slots are made to insert the tibia and the tail portions of the bird. An additional provision is made for the insertion of a heavy wire for giving structural strength to the bird body and for mounting the neck and/or head of the bird. A second casting is then made of the reconfigured first casting and the second casting used for the final product.
