  • Patent number: 4753024
Abstract: A cured animal foot for mounting to a plaque includes an animal foot comprised of skin, bone, and flesh, having a lower portion with digits and an upper portion which at an upper end thereof has been cut from a leg of an animal, the upper and lower portions being joined at about a 90.degree. angle at the wrist joint. The cured animal foot further includes a semi-stiff wire inserted longitudinally into the animal foot and extending into both the upper and lower portions of the animal foot. While the animal foot is still fresh, it is bent at the wrist to the desired angle and held thereat by the bent wire while the foot is cured in the bent configuration in a curing bath. The invention is carried out by providing a fresh animal foot and a semi-stiff wire, inserting the semi-stiff wire longitudinally into the foot so that the wire extends into both the upper and lower portions of the foot. The foot is then bent at the wrist to the selected angle.

  • Patent number: 4737129
Abstract: An artificial vine, ornamental in appearance and form, arranged for carrying articles, where the latter, as a doll, for example, is selectively stored and removed from a pod which forms part of the artificial vine. The pods, which are also selectively removable from the stem of the vine, are each slitted so that, when open, a receiving cavity is presented. Opening may be accomplished by the use of a flexible material which resumes a closed position after release of flexing or, on the other hand, material which is readily movable from a closed to an opened condition, and conversely. In any event, whatever material is used should compliment the vine so as to present a total ornamental effect.

  • Patent number: 4720406
Abstract: A canvas for use by an artist for painting includes a flexible substrate material having a surface coating of a refined animal glue which forms a translucent glaze as the painting surface. The substrate is preferably open-weave nylon having a denier value of between 200 and 400 denier, inclusive. A binding intermediate coating of either rabbit skin glue or a whitener may be used to increase the binding of the surface coating to the substrate, and the coated substrate may be mounted on a stretching framework and, if desired, backed by butcher's paper. The production process for this canvas includes the steps of coating a sheet of the substrate with a binding material, drying this first coat, glazing the material with a glazing compound that dries to a translucent layer, and drying the glazed sheet.
