  • Patent number: 9404629
Abstract: A light-output system (1), for forming a controllable pattern (10) of illuminated spots (11a-b) in a distant projection plane (3). The light-output system (1) comprises a plurality of individually controllable light-output devices (6a-c) arranged in an array (5) of light-output devices with a light-output device pitch (PLS), and an optical system (7) arranged between the array (5) of light-output devices and the projection plane (3). The optical system (1) is configured to project light emitted by the array (5) of light-output devices in the projection plane (5) as a projected array of illuminated spots (11a-c) having a projection pitch (Pspot) that is larger than the light-output device pitch (PLS). Using this light-output system, practically all of the luminous power output by the light-output devices is used for projecting the light patterns.

  • Patent number: 9020184
Abstract: A method for selectively applying a reflectance modifying agent (RMA) to an area of skin, the method comprising receiving an image of the area of skin, identifying, using the image, a nominated point within the area of skin, determining an actual reflectance of the nominated point, applying an edge protection technique based on the image to generate one or more outputs, determining a desired reflectance of the nominated point based on the one or more outputs, calculating an amount of RMA to be applied based on the output, and determining whether to apply the RMA to the area of skin based on the amount of RMA.

  • Patent number: 6824387
Abstract: A mirror for checking dyed hair color has a mirror and a colored filter formed on part or the whole of the surface of the mirror. The colored filter is formed such that the color of the reflected image of hair from the colored filter is the same as the dyed hair color for when the hair has been dyed with a particular hair dye. By using this mirror for checking dyed hair color, it is possible to easily predict hair color after dyeing for any given initial hair color, thus making it possible to easily select a hair dye for obtaining a desired dyed hair color.

  • Patent number: 6562468
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of eliminating and a laminate which eliminates an aesthetically unacceptable hue normally visible at an area of overlap between a light-colored substrate that reflects a certain wavelength of light back to and through a light-colored translucent overlay. Specifically, the method includes applying a dark material to at least one of the light-colored substrate and the light-colored translucent overlay upon an area of overlap of the substrate and overlay, and sandwiching the dark material between the overlay and the substrate at the area of overlap so that certain wavelengths of light normally passing through the overlay into the substrate and reflected by the substrate back to and through the overlay are blocked by the dark material. The light-colored overlay in the area of overlap appears in its true light color to the “naked” eye absent the aesthetically unacceptable hue.

  • Patent number: 5538455
Abstract: A multi-colored twirling baton comprising a transparent tube having a transparent helical partition co-axially extending through the tube to form two separate helical fluid chambers. Two light-transmissive fluids of different colors fill respective ones of the chambers. Light transmitted through the baton displays a helical array of the two colors and a third color which is a blend of the other two.

  • Patent number: 5275566
Abstract: A simple color distinguishing card set is composed of certain mixed color cards and a primary color arrangement card. Each of these mixed color cards is provided with a primary color spot, a plurality of mixed color spots, and a plurality of transparent spots groups or holes groups. The primary color card is provided with a plurality of primary color congregation areas. A specific mixed color may be easily found by means of packing together some or all of these mixed color cards. Reversely, specific primary colors may be obtained by means of placing the respective mixed color card over the primary color arrangement card.

  • Patent number: 5180305
Abstract: Color printing is a precise and exacting science. The finished piece should be a perfect meld between type and graphic. To accomplish this, a color chart must be used to match a particular color in the photograph or in a slide, as is more commonly used. The match is then incorporated in the headline or body copy. When using a photograph, it is fairly simple to pick and match a color from the chart because they are both reflective. But working with the reflective chart and the transparency, the slide poses a problem. The designer has to visualize and interpolate. With this invention, the chart and slide is transparent. In this invention, the four colors, magenta, cyan, yellow, and black with screens from ten percent to 90 percent for each are selected to match a particular color or a complement of all the colors in the slide. By overlaying any one or more of the primary colors and/or their screens, the designer can specify those colors for the headline, body copy, or a frame.

  • Patent number: 4761137
Abstract: A color coordination cone which permits a hair colorist to examine color mixtures before actual application. It is comprised of an internally illuminated cone-shaped base apparatus over which one or more transparent color cones comprised of twenty-four longitudinal color bands in eleven shades is placed. The color cones are rotated one over the other to examine the effect of mixing one color with another. In another embodiment of the invention, a colorless, transparent conical sheath with external tracks in radial planes corresponding to the edges of color cone shade levels is slid over the color cone. Elongated strips in various hues are slid between certain sets of adjacent tracks so that a particular hue on a strip will be positioned over a particular hue on the color cone and the results determined.

  • Patent number: 4681546
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus for use in the method, for selecting and coordinating the color of a person's wardrobe and accessories to flatter and complement the person. The method includes a color spectrum analysis of the natural tones of the person's skin, preferably by use of a color filter system. The color spectrum analysis is performed to determine the distribution and concentration of at least one, and preferably, two, primary colors. Wearing apparel and accessory items are categorized into classes based on the concentration of the preselected color in these items and the classes most closely matching the proportions of the selected primary color found in the skin tones of the person are selected for that person's wardrobe and accessories. The method uses a set of color filters with coded indicia that provide a facile manner in determining the distribution and concentration of the selected primary color.

  • Patent number: 4399353
Abstract: A color computer wheel includes a white base member upon which four concentrically arranged discs are rotatably mounted by a central fastener, the discs decreasing in diameter from bottom to top and being made of a transparent sheet material. The top disc carries four concentric annular bands, each evenly divided into radial spaces. The three lower discs are each dedicated to a single primary color, and carry color bands arranged to register with the bands of the topmost disc, the color bands being divided evenly into radial spaces with progressive color shades thereon. The peripheries of the four discs carry legend strips, which identify the percentage of color in the radial spaces in alignment therewith.

  • Patent number: 4241520
Abstract: Color wheel comprising 3 transparent overlaid discs with circumferential arrays of primary color gradation on each such disc, the colors being overlappable when the discs are moved relative to each other to define thousands of combinations and arranged so that in primary positions of the three discs, which are transparent, the color wheel forms perfect complements, triads, quartets, sextets, etc. and in almost all relative positions perfect and equal increments of analogous gradations of different color schemes (at all arcs where colors are changing). In each disc there is a 240-degree sweep of each primary color comprising a central 120 degrees of 100% intensity of the primary color decreasing in each 60-degree band of the side of the central 120-degree bands from 100% to 0 intensity at the outer edges of the 240-degree band.
