With Movably Attached User Manipulated Means Or Having User Grippable Means For Manually Distorting Resilient Part Patents (Class 439/835)
  • Patent number: 5993270
Abstract: Such a clamp has a clamping spring (5) and a busbar (4) on which the pretensioned clamping spring (5) can be placed. One end leg (8) of the clamping spring (5) has a window (9) penetrated by the tongue of the busbar (4), and a spring-tensioned electrical conductor can be fixed between a front edge (12) and the busbar (4). The other end section (14) of the clamping spring (5) abuts a brace of the busbar (4), and the spring forms a flexible joint (6) between its end leg (8) and the end section (14). To make the design and installation simpler, the clamping spring (5) is bent essentially in the form of a circular arc section at its flexible joint (6). Its end leg (8) and end section (14) are bent away from the open side (7) of the arc-shaped flexible joint (6), and the tongue (10) and brace (15) are in a respectively adapted position on the busbar (4).

  • Patent number: 5816867
Abstract: A curved wire spring clamp which distributes bending stresses linearly based on the distance from the point of load application while maintaining torsional integrity. Bending stresses are distributed by providing apertures which change the effective width of the spring along its length. In the preferred embodiment the apertures approximate a triangular cantilever and are centrally placed along each leg portion near a constrained curved portion of the spring to change the spring's bending characteristics and distribute the bending stress more evenly throughout the length of the spring thereby reducing the peak bending stress level as compared with an equivalent spring design without apertures.

  • Patent number: 5679021
Abstract: An actuator for opening and closing a spring clamp terminal mounted within a connector housing is receivable within a cavity of the housing. The actuator comprises a tapered first camming surface for progressively biasing the spring clamp open, and a second rest surface for maintaining the spring clamp open for reception of a wire without requiring use of the tool. Once the wire has been placed in a wire receiving hole of the spring clamp, the actuator can be released by tilting thereof about a pivot line such that the spring arm of the spring clamp engages the first camming surface hence pushing the actuating means outwardly of the cavity, thereby enabling clamping of the wire.

  • Patent number: 4938702
Abstract: A connector clamp for attaching conductive surface pads on a flexible sheet to a printed wiring board having complementary conductive surface pads is bent from an elongated precut pattern. The resulting clamp member includes a series of transverse fingers along one leg of a U-shaped cross-sectional configuration. The fingers are opposed by a continuous leg joined to them by a continuous central base that completes the U-shaped cross-sectional configuration. The internal width across the central base exceeds the combined thickness of the sheet and board secured by the clamp.
