Abstract: Geometrically versatile composite lattice support structure having a seamless three-dimensional configuration are disclosed and described. The lattice support structure is created by forming two or more cross supports, such as helical, longitudinal, circumferential and/or lateral cross supports, which intersect to form a plurality of multi-layered nodes. The lattice support structure may be designed without any protrusions extending outward from the overall geometry, thus enabling efficient tooling, and thus enabling ease of mass production. The lattice support structure may comprise a completely circumferentially closed geometry, such as a cylinder, ellipse, airfoil, etc. The method for fabricating the lattice support structure comprises laying up a fiber material, in the presence of resin, within rigid channels of a rigid mold, thus creating a green, uncured three-dimensional geometry of unconsolidated cross supports and multi-layered nodes where these intersect.

The anisotropy of the carbon fibers is created in a carding process using the high orientability of admixed non-carbon textile fibers, at least some of the non-carbon textile fibers being thermoplastic, and the carbon fibers having been isolated from waste or used parts. The flat fibrous web which is produced by a carding process and which has a specific orientation of the carbon fibers in the longitudinal direction is compressed into a sheet material under the effect of heat. This enables the use of carbon fibers, for example from production waste, as reinforcing fibers, whereby a less expensive raw material is provided and the carbon fibers are contained in the waste materials are recycled.

Abstract: A procedure is described for extending the period of time during which a line leg (e.g., a pipeline) made of a material with a coefficient of thermal conductivity ?R, in a fireproofing installation remains below a critical temperature and hence for increasing the T-rating value according to ASTM E814 (UL1479). A line leg is wrapped with a mesh, that includes a non-flammable material with a coefficient of thermal conductivity ?G, directly adjacent to the bulkheading of a feedthrough opening in a component on both sides for wall feedthroughs and/or above the feedthrough opening for ceiling feedthroughs, subject to the condition that the coefficient of thermal conductivity ?G is greater than the coefficient of thermal conductivity ?G. The heat removal from a line leg can be supported easily and, in particular, applied on-site such that even line legs with good thermal conductivity can achieve a high T-rating value in the fire test.

Abstract: A security material includes a base material combined with a security feature that inhibits slash-and-go thefts. The security material may be used to form merchandise containers, security inserts, merchandise shipping configurations, and merchandise shipping containers. The security feature may be one or more of a layer of wire mesh, perforated metal, screen, plastic, and fabric. A wire material such as hexagonal wire mesh commonly referred to as chicken wire or chicken mesh may be used. The chicken wire material may be a galvanized iron wire or PVC coated wire. The security feature may be disposed on an outer or inner surface or embedded within the base material.
