Abstract: Nonwoven fabrics of fibers comprising one or more primary polypropylenes having a molecular weight distribution of less than 3.5 and a melt flow rate within the range from 5 to 500 dg/min, the fibers having an average diameter of less than 20 ?m, or a denier (g/9000 m) of less than 2.0, thus forming propylene-based fabrics. The primary polypropylene is preferably a reactor grade polymer made using a single-site catalyst. In certain embodiments, the propylene-based fabrics disclosed herein have a MD Tensile Strength (WSP 110.4 (05)) of greater than 20 N/5 cm when calendered at a temperature within the range from 110 to 15O° C. Also in certain embodiments, the fabrics have a CD Tensile Strength (WSP 110.4 (05)) of greater than 10 N/5 cm when calendered at a temperature within the range from 110 to 15O° C. The fabrics are preferably meltspun, and in a particular embodiment are spunbond fabrics.

Abstract: A multilayer thermal insulation composite for fire protection applications. The composite includes a fibrous insulation layer, at least one inorganic heat absorbing layer disposed on one side of the fibrous insulation layer, and at least one superinsulation layer disposed on at least one side of the composite adjacent the heat absorbing layer or the fibrous insulation layer. The composite may further include a scrim layer comprising a high temperature resistant, flexible, woven or non-woven scrim or scrim and high temperature resistant material disposed around the multilayer thermal insulation composite partially or substantially totally encapsulating the composite. The composite is lightweight and flexible, exhibits reduced heat transfer to the cold-face, with improved thermal insulation capability.

Abstract: Transparent fluorescent structures comprising a matrix and fluorescent nanoparticles disposed within the matrix. Each fluorescent nanoparticle comprises a substrate nanoparticle having a surface; and one or more fluorescent molecules that fluoresce light. Each fluorescent molecule is bonded to at least one reactive bonding site on the surface of the substrate nanoparticle. The fluorescent molecules are distributed among the substrate nanoparticles such that self-quenching of the fluorescent molecules is eliminated or at least reduced.
