Abstract: A modular brassiere that serves as both a modesty garment and an easily-donned support garment. The modular bra includes an elongated support band that is preferably made of elastic material. Hook-and-loop type of engaging panels are used to secure the band around the user's chest. A separate strap assembly may be added to transfer load to one or more of the user's shoulders. The support band includes a proximal end and a distal end. A pocket is preferably included, proximate the distal end. The user can place one or more fingers into this pocket to assist in donning the device. A grip panel is preferably included as well. The grip panel includes a strap loop which the user can employ to also assist in donning the device.

Abstract: A nursing brassiere comprising an outer fabric layer affixed to a lower fabric layer along edge seams with a single attachment point within the center of the brassiere making it usable for both nursing and hands-free pumping.

Abstract: A bra top that can be worn between a wearer's regular bra and their outer garment. The bra top is designed so that the wearer can choose to appropriately cover their cleavage when wearing a low-cut top. The bra top includes a front portion having a generally convex lower border, and a back portion attached to or integral with the front portion and having a generally concave lower border. The bra top is comprised of a material having 80% or more natural fibers and 20% or less stretchable synthetic fibers. The convex lower border of the front portion extends lower than the concave lower border of the back portion such that additional material is available to comfortably cover a wearer's breasts.

Abstract: The present invention includes a garment, such as a bra or a shaper, having regions of differential elasticity. For example, a bra includes: two cups located at a front side of the bra; and a backwing comprising a plurality of regions having differential elasticity. Optionally, the plurality of regions comprise at least five areas which comprise: a central area having reduced elasticity; a right-side area having increased elasticity; a left side area having increased elasticity; a first intermediary area, located between the central area and the right-side area, wherein the first intermediary area has intermediate elasticity; and a second intermediary area, located between the central area and the left-side area, wherein the second intermediary area has intermediate elasticity.

Abstract: A breast support garment is configured with adjustable straps, cups, and/or other components in order to facilitate modification of the appearance of the bust. Modifying the length of certain straps causes the cups to move upwards/downwards and/or inwards/outwards with respect to the center of the breast support garment. Shoulder straps or other portions of the breast support garment may pass through guide loops and/or couple to the breast cups or garment shell to permit adjustment. The location of each breast cup may be independently adjusted.

Abstract: A bra for compression stabilizing the breast mass against motion relative to the torso includes a closed cell foam layer having a front, back, sides, and shoulder straps in a pattern to approximately match the contours of a female user's torso. A first fabric layer adjacent to the inner surface of the cell foam layer adjacent to the user's skin, substantially matching the pattern of the closed cell foam fabric layer, provides moisture wicking and comfort. A portion of the closed cell foam fabric layer extends below the breast line and encircles the torso to add motion stabilizing support to the breasts.

Abstract: A brassiere that can be worn during a mammogram is devoid of metal and has stretch cups. The brassiere permits a woman to remain at least partially clothed above the waist during a mammogram. In various embodiments, the brassiere includes one or more additional features, in any combination, including a compression band, wide shoulder straps, a bra band, and releasable breast cups. Some of the additional features are expected to reduce the pain experienced by some patients undergoing a mammography.

Abstract: A brassiere having flexibility, durability, and improved comfort for the wearer is provided. The side panel of the brassiere comprises a folded fabric and two elastic bands. The folded fabric has two opposing longitudinal edges, a top edge, and a bottom edge. Each of the two elastic bands is positioned in the interior of the folded fabric along a respective longitudinal edge, which also includes notches for orienting the bands. The folded fabric is sewn together at each of the top and bottom edges such that the two elastic bands are held in place. One of the longitudinal edges may be formed by sewing the folded fabric together to form a seam using a pull-out stitch. Each of the two elastic bands may include either of a woven elastic band or a knitted elastic band. The present invention further relates to a brassiere in which the side panels can flex independently of each other in conformance to the wearer's movements.

Abstract: A body-shaping garment and fabric is provided. The garment includes an inner fabric layer and an outer fabric layer. The inner fabric layer is placed in an angular orientation relative to the outer fabric layer. Further, the inner fabric layer and the outer fabric layer have sufficiently isotropic hysteresis.

Abstract: A brassiere includes two cups for the breasts, a contact strip positioned under the cups that encircles an area below the bust, two shoulder straps connected to, and extending upwardly from, the cups, and connected to a rear panel, a middle panel positioned between the two cups, and side panels extending from the cups to the rear panel. Inner layers of the cups having a vertical elasticity of at least 60% with respect to a total vertical height of the cups, and at least 15% of the total area of the inner layers configured to contact the skin. The middle panel has a horizontal elasticity of at least 20%. The adherence capacity of the inner layers of the cups can be increased by a silicone material that has a high friction coefficient.

Abstract: A bra and a system have bays and a truss for supporting breasts of a user wearing the bra. The bra has a first bay and/or a second bay for receiving the breasts of the user wearing the bra. The bra has a first cup, a second cup and/or the truss for supporting and/or for enclosing the breasts of the user. The truss connects a rear end of the first portion to a rear end of the second portion. Liners are connected to an interior surface of the first portion and/or an interior surface of the second portion. The truss reduces stress of, strain of and/or pain in shoulders, a neck and/or a back of the user from the weight of the breasts of the user. The bays, the truss and/or the cups of the bra minimize unwanted movements of the breast of the user.

Abstract: A thermally-insulative, breast-supportive undergarment comprising an anterior fabric portion, a posterior fabric portion, and an elastic band member is disclosed. The anterior fabric portion and the posterior fabric portion each essentially comprise thermally-insulative material having latitudinally-oriented fabric elasticity. The anterior fabric portion and the posterior fabric portion are attached to one anther at seam sections to cooperatively form a neck-covering sleeve, a midriff-receiving aperture, and laterally opposed arm-receiving apertures. The elastic band member is cooperatively associated with the midriff-receiving aperture and inherently has bidirectional band elasticity. The bidirectional band elasticity is also latitudinally-oriented.

The scallop portion and the ornamental lace portion are provided as one continuous lace fabric, and this lace fabric is formed into a three-dimensional shape by means of molding with the scallop portion being placed at an end of the three-dimensional shape.

Abstract: A brassiere includes a support portion (straps, sides, back, etc.) for supporting the brassiere on the human body, and two cups joined to the support portion. At least one of the two cups includes an additional elastic portion that is adapted to exercise an elastic retention effect on an oedema of the breast held in the cup. This additional elastic cup portion, which is preferably placed on the exterior of the cup, is adapted to have, in a slacked or unstretched state, a surface area smaller than the cup and a depth smaller than the cup. The additional elastic cup portion is attached solely along its periphery to the periphery of the cup.

Abstract: The present invention provides an active-wear garment which comfortably provides support to the chest and back areas of the physically-active wearer, while wicking away moisture from the skin of the wearer. The active-wear garment of the present invention provides support such that the breasts of the wearer are comfortably supported and effectively immobilized when worn during physical activity of the wearer.

Abstract: A post-operative brassiere for use by female patients following cardio-thoracic surgery is disclosed. The post-operative brassiere includes a first breast support cup and a second breast support cup being interconnected by a support strap which is worn about the neck and shoulders of the wearer so as to form an open gap between the first and second breast support cups over the area of the wearer's sternum whereon a surgical incision is located. The conventional torso encircling straps which overlie the sternum in brassieres of the prior art are eliminated. The post-operative brassiere allows access to the incision for routine examination and nursing care while providing adequate support to the wearer's breasts. In one embodiment the breast support cups include elastic panels disposed about the peripheral edges thereof to secure the same in position.

Abstract: A nursing brassiere that provides added support and yet can be easily manipulated to provide nursing access is disclosed The brassiere has overlapping frontal portions each with a cup-like configuration for covering the wearer's breasts. The frontal portions are attached to a lower elastic or elastic type cut and sewn portion below the breasts which includes a wrap-around band. Along a lower outer border of each cup-like frontal portion is a relatively short arcuate wire member that provides breast support under normal wear conditions. When nursing takes place, a frontal portion is easily pulled aside to displace the supporting wire and expose the breast for the necessary nursing access.

Abstract: An exercise brassiere having an outer layer adapted to fit over the wearer's upper torso and shoulders and a coextensive inner layer adapted to fit over the front portion of the wearer's upper torso and shoulders. The inner layer and the outer layer are constructed of a lightweight, flexible two-way stretch fabric having a stretchability significantly greater in the horizontal direction than in the vertical direction to provide adequate and comfortable support to the wearer's breasts. The inner layer has cut into it a pair of apertures sized and positioned to receive the breasts of the wearer the apertures being covered by the outer layer. The apertures also provide support to the wearer's breasts and further provide for a natural, contoured appearance to the wearer's breasts.

Abstract: A brassiere cup molding method using moldable and non-moldable fabric blanks in which a mold with a cup shape is used to project into a cup shape a fabric blank that is stretchable but absent of plastic moldable content, i.e. non-moldable, while it is in spanning relation across an opening of a fabric blank having a plastic content, i.e. moldable, wherein the moldable blank assumes a molded frusto conical shape about the opening therein which holds the stretch fabric, although not molded, in the cup shape that was imparted to it by the mold by not allowing the stretch fabric to return to its pre-stretched flat condition.

Abstract: An inner bust control portion of a swimsuit includes an elasticized fabric band that completely encircles the chest. A stretchy elastic horizontal strip is attached at its upper margin, and another at its lower margin, so that the band is pulled up against the chest. Two vertical elastic strips, one at the side of each breast extends from upper to lower horizontal elastic strips. At least one midline vertical elastic strip separates the breasts so that pockets are formed within the fabric band bounded by the elastic strips. The upper margin of the inner bust control portion is attached to the upper margin of the outer fabric of the swimsuit. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the midline vertical elastic strip or strips are replaced by a drawstring.

Abstract: A woman's brassiere individual sizes of which can accommodate a substantial range of rib cage and cup sizes. A pair of cups, with an elastic web is joined to an encircling band A shoulder loop is attached to each cup and to the encircling band. Elastic risers bind the sides of each cup and extend from the band to respective shoulder straps. An elastic cradle has a lower edge anchored to the band, and an upper free edge entirely unattached to the web of the cup so it can move in relative shear-like movement relative to the web. The cradle reinforces the web when the web is substantially deflected by a breast, and supports the lower portion of the breast independently of the web.

Abstract: An improved brassiere (1) in which the part (2) which supports the breasts is made of a fabric, preferably cotton/Lycra*, which is initially flat but which, without the use of seams, darts, mouldings or shaping, stretches around and generally conforms to the shape of the wearer's breasts to hold them against her body. A feature of the preferred bra is that it is devoid of all hardware such as clips or buckles and it includes a wide midrif portion at the front, sides and back (15,16) for improved support.

Abstract: The sports bra comprises two front panel sections with each front panel section being a mirror image of the other and including a main body portion and an upwardly extending wide strap forming portion and a rear panel section including a body portion and two upwardly extending wide strap forming portions. The body portion of the rear panel section is attached on each side edge thereof to one of the main body portions of one of the front panel sections and the upper ends of each strap forming portion are attached to the upper end of one of the strap forming portions of one of the front panel sections. The rear panel section includes two elastic strap reinforcing bands which extend from the upper end of one of the strap forming portions angularly downwardly to the opposite side edge of the rear panel section to form cross strap members. The sports bra has arm holes and a neck hole which are defined between the areas of joining of the front and rear panel sections.
