Abstract: An air outlet structure for an air conditioner, which can provide a sufficient volume and speed of air conditioning airflow, which has excellent directivity, and which has a thin air outlet directed to the interior of a vehicle. In the air outlet structure (10) for an air conditioner, a movable flow path member (14) provided in a case (12) can be deformed to a triangle and to a pentagon according to operation of a left-right adjustment knob (44), and this changes the shape of a flow path in the case (12). Accordingly, the flow path in the case (12) does not require fins for changing the direction of the left and right. As a result, the flow path in the case (12) can have a sufficient effective cross-sectional area to provide a sufficient volume and speed of air conditioning airflow.

Abstract: An HVAC duct system of a vehicle includes an air duct for providing a passageway for forced conditioned air. The air duct having a first imaginary axis extending substantially parallel with the passageway. An air duct register having plurality of vane-like members for directing the flow of air as it exits the register is coupled to the air duct. An opening of the air duct register defines an imaginary plane. The register has a second imaginary axis extending perpendicular to the imaginary plane of the register. An air flow straightener disposed within the air duct juxtaposed to the register and includes an air guide member. The air guide member receives the forced air flowing through the air duct in a direction substantially parallel with the first imaginary axis and redirects the forced air in a direction substantially parallel with the second imaginary axis for reducing noise as air passes the vanes.

Abstract: A vehicle air vent is provided that includes a plurality of air control vanes, the orientation of which determines the direction of air flow exiting the air vent; a shut-off door that allows air to flow through the air vent when it is in a first position and blocks air flow through the air vent when it is in a second position; a control tab mechanically coupled to the plurality of air control vanes; and a linkage assembly mechanically coupling the control tab to the shut-off door. Adjustment of the control tab within a first range of positions controls the orientation of the air control vanes while maintaining the shut-off door in an open position. Adjustment of the control tab within a second range of positions, however, moves the shut-off door between the first and second positions, thereby controlling air flow through the air vent.

Abstract: An automotive air conditioner includes an air-conditioning case in which air passageways having a cold air path via an evaporator, a warm air path via a heater core, and a plurality of discharge path systems communicating with outlets, respectively, are formed. An air mix door distributes cold air and warm air by an opening degree to each of the discharge path systems via a junction region of the cold air and the warm air, and a rotary door having a cross wall is rotatably disposed in the junction region of the cold air and the warm air and blocks air flow from the junction region to the downstream side by the cross wall in an advanced position. The rotary door and the air mix door include an overlap layout which uses a door space inside the cross wall of the rotary door in the advanced position as an opening and closing operation space of the air mix door.
