  • Patent number: 9549312
Abstract: Methods and systems for dynamic switching between service providers are described. The method includes receiving a service provider switch (SPS) request from a User Equipment (UE) having a subscriber identity module (SIM) associated with a primary service provider where the request is indicative of switching the SIM from the primary service provider to a secondary service provider. The method further includes authenticating the SPS request based at least on the user subscription and triggering an update of a service control point (SCP) address in a home location register (HLR) of the primary service provider based on response to the authentication. The method may further include receiving another SPS request from the UE to switch the SIM from the secondary service provider to one of a former service provider and triggering an update of SCP details in the HLR of the primary service provider.

  • Patent number: 9532312
Abstract: A misplaced user device deactivates processors and other resources so as to conserve residual battery power, while a radio frequency (RF) circuit remains active. The RF circuit transmits a beacon signal at time intervals to aid a user in locating and recovery of the misplaced user device by way of another user device operating in search mode. Information regarding the identity or other characteristics of the misplaced user device may be encoded in the beacon signal to assist in the search. The misplaced user device may modify the beacon signaling RF power, time intervals, information, or other parameters in response to an acknowledgement signal received from the searching user device.

  • Patent number: 9521643
Abstract: Access terminals are adapted to communicate with registration servers to enable a registration server to perform timer-based registrations on behalf of an access terminal. The access terminal can cease performing such timer-based registrations as long as the registration server performs the registrations, and may power down until event data is available for transmission or reception. When a registration server performs timer-based registrations on behalf of an access terminal, the registration server can periodically communicate with a network entity to conduct the timer-based registrations for the access terminal. The network entity can receive a timer-based registration message from a registrations server for registering an access terminal. In response to such a message, the network entity can register the access terminal. Sensors and controllers may be used with some embodiments to collect and analyze data and for potentially taking action.

  • Patent number: 9509547
Abstract: The invention includes methods of using IMS Centralized Services, ICS, in the selection of a service domain relating to a call involving a User Equipment, UE, being served by a CS access network. In one aspect a method includes receiving a request from a routing node, such as a Mobile Switching Center, MSC, or a Gateway Mobile Switching Center, GMSC, for a service domain selection at a Service Control Point, SCPin the UE's IMS network (801). The SCP has a Service Domain Selection, SDS, function, which retrieves data relating to the UE from a Domain Selection function (802). Based on the retrieved data, the SDS selects either the IMS service domain or the CS service domain as the service domain for routing the call (803), and sends an indication of the selected service domain to the routing node (805). Other aspects include methods for domain selection at the originating and terminating sides of the call, and network entities configured to carry out the methods.

A wireless communication device may be connected to a first network that uses a first radio access technology (RAT). When a failure occurs (e.g., lost connection), the device may attempt to acquire a cell or channel of another network that uses a second RAT. The time consumed for acquiring the channel of the second RAT may be reduced by providing a suitably prioritized list of channels. In some examples, the device may identify a channel for initial access or following a call failure based on prior successful access on that channel, or based on information provided by a server, or both.

  • Patent number: 9351270
Abstract: In a network comprising a cluster of small cells 100-111 underlying a macrocell 112, each small cell served by its own Home Node B 100, 101 is assigned a unique “on the air” Location Area Code so that as a User Equipment 113 moves from the coverage area of one Home Node B to another it will initiate a Location Update. Each time a Location Update is initiated, this triggers a location presence notification message to a presence server 206. The Core Network 203 is unaware of the “on the air” Location Area Codes and so does not need to be informed of User Equipment movement between Home Node B's. The Home Node B network is arranged to handle the registration procedure locally, as from the Core Network perspective, the Location Area Code has not changed. Instead, the Core Network sees a Iu LAC that is shared amongst the several Home Node B's operating through a single Home Node B Gateway. Hence the arrangement offers fine granularity of location presence detection with no additional Core Network load.

Abstract: Methods and systems for automatically signing a user on to an integration application when a user signs on to another application and signing a user off when the user signs off of the other application. The integration application automatically non-programmatically collects data from a mapped location of a mapped source reference of the other application. The collected data includes a user identifier value. The integration continuously monitors the collected user identifier value for a difference in the collected user identifier value. If the collected user identifier value is recognized by the integration application, the user is signed into the integration application using the collected user identifier value, and if a difference in the collected user identifier value is detected, the user is signed off of the integration application.

Abstract: The present solution relates to providing a call service in a communication system, where in response to recognizing a predetermined event related to a user terminal (UEA), it is checked (203, 204) whether the user terminal (UEA) is a roaming user terminal (UEA) roaming in a visited packet switched network. It is also checked (203, 204) whether the user terminal (UEA) is defined to use a home network routing function in the visited packet switched network. If the user terminal (UEA) is a roaming user terminal (UEA) roaming in the visited packet switched network and defined to use the home network routing function in the visited packet switched network, the home network routing function is over overridden by performing (209) a forced setup of the call service to a local circuit switched network.
