Abstract: It is provided a wireless communication system comprising base stations that transmit data to a terminal with cooperation by the base stations. The terminal communicates with the base stations. The terminal periodically transmits, to one of the base stations, information necessary for data transmission from a single base station out of the base stations. Each of the base stations determines whether the terminal needs data transmission through a cooperation among the base stations, and transmits a cooperation information transmission instruction to the terminal, which includes information necessary to execute the data transmission in order to cooperate among the base stations in the case where it is determined that the terminal needs the data transmission through the cooperation among the base stations. The terminal transmits the cooperation information to the base stations in a case of receiving the cooperation information transmission instruction.

Abstract: A mobile ad hoc network may be established between a plurality of devices that have common contacts on their contact lists. The contact lists may be conventional contacts stored in a list of contacts on a scheduling and information management or other software packages in one embodiment. Information about common contacts between a plurality of devices may be progressively shared, using a bucket brigade technique of sharing information between in-range devices. Status information about the devices in the network may be similarly shared in a bucket brigade fashion. Thus, the network is dynamic in the sense that at any given time, it may be determined whether any given device in the network is active. Moreover, the links are established between a manageable number of devices defined by having common contacts with one another.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention describe methods for increasing the amount of information available to a mobile transmit diversity transmitter during soft handoff. According to embodiments of the invention, a transmit diversity transmitter may determine substantially when it is within the range of at least two receivers. In such situations, the transmitter may use the power control signals from more than one receiver, for example, from the two most dominant receivers in order to focus the beamforming accordingly.

Abstract: Provided is a base station capable of performing cell search of all mobile stations having different communicable frequency band widths in a scalable band width communication system to which a multi-carrier communication method such as the OFDM method is applied. The base station includes: a modulation unit (102) for modulating SCH data after being encoded; a sub carrier setting unit (105) for setting one of the sub carriers to a sub carrier (SCH sub carrier) constituting the OFDM symbol for SCH data transmission; and an IFFT unit (106) for mapping the SCH data to the sub carrier set by the sub carrier setting unit (105) among the sub carriers and performing IFFT to generate an OFDM symbol. The sub carrier setting unit (105) sets one of the sub carriers which has a frequency of a common multiple between the sub carrier interval and the cell search interval as an SCH sub carrier.

Abstract: A method for efficiently transmitting and receiving control information through a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) is provided. When a User Equipment (UE) receives control information through a PDCCH, the received control information is set to be decoded in units of search spaces, each having a specific start position in the specific subframe. Here, a modulo operation according to a predetermined first constant value (D) is performed on an input value to calculate a first result value, and a modulo operation according to a predetermined first variable value (C) corresponding to the number of candidate start positions that can be used as the specific start position is performed on the calculated first result value to calculate a second result value and an index position corresponding to the second result value is used as the specific start position. Transmitting control information in this manner enables a plurality of UEs to efficiently receive PDCCHs without collisions.

Abstract: A station associates with an access point in a wireless local area network conforming to, e.g., an IEEE 802.11 standard. The station measures the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for the downlink from each of the access points sending either a beacon or a probe response, and forms a first list of access points in decreasing order of received downlink SNR. The station transmits a link test request to each access point to query the access point for the SNR of the link test request received at the corresponding access point. Access points respond to the link test request with corresponding link test responses containing the corresponding SNR. The station i) forms a second list of access points in decreasing order of received uplink SNR and ii) compares the first and second lists to determine which access point to associate with based on overall quality of the uplink and downlink channels.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide methods for transmitting reference signals (RS) from user equipments (UEs) in wireless communication systems. These RS are used, among other functions, by a serving base station to schedule data transmission from UEs and perform power and timing control of the UE signal transmissions. The RS are constructed based on constant amplitude zero autocorrelation (CAZAC) sequences, including their possible modifications. The invention describes methods to multiplex transmission of RS from multiple UEs by having the serving base station control the CAZAC sequence and the associated cyclic shift, transmission bandwidth, transmission period, and transmission power applied to the RS transmission by each UE.

Abstract: The current multi-base station cooperative communication technology could only provide one type of cooperative communication fixedly, and this results in that either the amount of data exchange between the base stations is huge and the latency is increased, or the optimum gain can not be obtained. To address this problem, the invention proposes a switching technology for collaboration type in multi-sector cooperative communication. The base station equipment dominating the sector determines one or more cooperating sectors of the mobile terminal, determines the type of the multi-sector cooperative communication provided cooperatively with said one or more cooperating sectors, based on information of said one or more cooperating sectors according to predefined rules, and cooperates with said one or more cooperating sectors and provides, for the mobile terminal, the multi-sector cooperative communication of the corresponding determined type.
