The user scheduling interval includes a plurality transmission request/request response rounds. By utilizing multiple request/request response rounds, a transmission decision corresponding to a connection to yield in an earlier round can be overridden in a subsequent round, resulting in higher overall traffic throughput in the system.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2007Date of Patent: July 19, 2011Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Junyi Li, Rajiv Laroia, Thomas Richardson, Xinzhou Wu, Saurabh Tavildar

Patent number: 7983687Abstract: An uplink signal-to-interference ratio for each of multiple mobile radio terminal connections supported in a cell in a cellular communications system is estimated. A signal-to-interference ratio error is determined for selected ones of the estimated uplink signal-to-interference ratios. One or more signal-to-interference ratio errors are identified that exceed a signal-to-interference ratio error threshold. An instability indicator associated with the cell is determined based on the one or more identified signal-to-interference ratio errors. A load control decision and/or a decision for scheduling one or more uplink mobile radio transmissions in the cell may then be made based on the instability indicator, e.g., to prevent a transmission power rush in the uplink in the cell and/or to efficiently use available resources for uplink transmissions.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2007Date of Patent: July 19, 2011Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Eva Englund, Fredrik Gunnarsson, Gunnar Bark, Patrik Karlsson

Patent number: 7983619Abstract: Intra-cell upstream data forwarding is utilized in a wireless network such as a wireless local area network. A network forwarding path is determined based on the signal strength of an access point signal received at client stations within the network, referred to as the OASS. In particular embodiments, a station that is either originating or forwarding a frame inserts its own OASS into the frame before transmitting it and a client station that receives a frame forwards it only if its own OASS exceeds the frame-enclosed OASS, illustratively by at least a predetermined amount.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2009Date of Patent: July 19, 2011Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventor: Lusheng Ji

Publication number: 20110170515Abstract: Provided is a method that may allocate uplink radio resources to a terminal, and may receive data from the terminal using the radio resources. The uplink radio resources may be allocated as contention-based radio resources in a radio network, such as a cellular system, a radio local access network (LAN), and the like, and thus, a plurality of terminals may effectively transmit data using minimum radio resources.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2011Publication date: July 14, 2011Applicant: Electronics and Telecommunications Research InstituteInventor: Jae Heung KIM

Publication number: 20110171985Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for a User Equipment (UE) to transmit signals in response to the reception of a Downlink Control Information (DCI) format transmitted from a base station of a communication system. The DCI format may provide only the frequency resources for the transmission of signals by the UE, while other parameters associated with the transmission of signals by the UE may be either predetermined or known to the UE through other signaling from the base station. The frequency resources used for the transmission of signals by the UE may be a sub-set of the frequency resources indicated by the DCI format and the determination of this sub-set by the UE may be either deterministic or pseudo-random.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 11, 2011Publication date: July 14, 2011Applicant: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Aris PAPASAKELLARIOU, Gert-Jan Van Lieshout, Soeng-Hun Kim

Patent number: 7979076Abstract: A resource management method in a Cognitive Radio communication system where at least two Base Stations of heterogeneous networks provide a connection service to Mobile Stations within their service areas is provided. In the method, at least one BS having candidate resources broadcasts its candidate resource information on the downlink of a system information channel. At least one BS lacking in resources searches the downlinks of system information channels from neighbor heterogeneous networks, selects an offer BS among the BSs having candidate resources, and rents resources from the selected offer BS by negotiations.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2006Date of Patent: July 12, 2011Assignees: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Inha-Industry Partnership InstituteInventors: Junhong Hui, Duck-Dong Hwang, Jae-Myeong Kim, Sang-Jo Yoo, Kwon-Moon No, Jae-Hak Chung
