  • Patent number: 7141002
Abstract: A weightlifting apparatus consistent with certain embodiments of the present invention has a bar having a first and a second opposing end. A weight having a central aperture is dimensioned so that the bar can be passed through the aperture. The bar has an end cap having an outer dimension larger than that of the bar and the aperture, with the end cap being situated adjacent the first end of the bar. A clamp secures the weight to the bar adjacent the end cap. An aperture through the bar adjacent the second end of the bar is provided for either pivotal or direct attachment of the gripping plate. The gripping plate may be round, elliptical, continuously variable diameter, or irregular or other shapes. The gripping plate may be firm and flexible and have weights built into the plate itself.

  • Patent number: 7137930
Abstract: An improved adjustable weight training apparatus is provided. The weight training apparatus includes a central collar portion, that further includes one or more elongated handles. In addition, each handle includes a gripping portion and a connecting end that attaches to a corresponding end of the central collar. Additionally each handle includes gripping protrusions that attach to a corresponding end of the elongated handles. The weight training apparatus further includes an angled weight support attachment that is received into the central collar and secured by a retaining pin or other similar device. In one preferred embodiment the angled weight support attachment may be pivoted and secured in a substantially upward position or in a substantially downward position. Weights may be retained by a sliding collar or similar means on the angled weight support attachment.

  • Patent number: 7131938
Abstract: Weight head assembly for dumbbells that eliminates a weak point on the handle bar, so as to increase the durability of a handle bar on dumbbells. Under present invention, the ‘stub’ portion, where the handlebar is inserted into the weight heads on the two ends of the bar, need not be machined down in size at the junction point between handle bar and weight head, and can thus withstand more wear and tear for regular usage in fitness training. The cost of manufacturing the handle bar, and as a result of the increase durability, will help the fitness industry greatly when making new dumbbells.

  • Patent number: 7121988
Abstract: An adjustable weight-training apparatus is provided having a plurality of weight plates, each of the weight plates including a protrusion. The weight-training apparatus has longitudinally opposing ends, each of the ends having longitudinally outer and inner groups of weight plates. A rotatable bar is also included in the apparatus and includes an inner control shaft and an outer control shaft. The inner control shaft is configured to rotate within the outer control shaft. The rotatable bar is configured to rotate within central holes of the weight plates. The inner control shaft has a first plurality of longitudinally spaced lobes. The inner control shaft is rotatable to position selected ones of the first plurality of lobes in engagement with the protrusions of selected weight plates of at least one of the outer groups of weight plates. The outer control shaft has a second plurality of longitudinally spaced lobes.

  • Patent number: 7004889
Abstract: The grasping and lifting aid, according to the present invention, comprises a flexible strap having a first and second end portion. Doubling back and fixedly securing the first end portion to a remainder of the flexible strap, a first loop is formed. The first loop has an opening commensurate with a width of the flexible strap, so that the second end portion can freely pass through. Thus, a second loop adaptable for attaching about a user's wrist is formed. The flexible strap includes a wrist securing portion formed by the second loop, followed by a palm grasping portion having a length adaptable to be spirally wrapped around a weight bar or the like by using several coils in close proximity to each other, without overlapping. The flexible strap also has anti-slip proprieties on a side adaptable for confronting a palm, fingers and thumb of a user. A material for providing anti-slip proprieties is used.
